Front Desk agent Theresa Thomas was professional, helpful, and had exemplary customer service! The room is clean and nice. From the moment I arrived, when the bellhop helped me with my bags to the front desk, the excellent front desk, agent, and other employees who helped direct me to the elevators, were all wonderful. Great place to stay.

The hotel is situated in a great location and in walking distance to a lot of activities and restaurants. When I checked in I was upgraded to a corner room with a sofa bed and I was a happy customer until I got into the shower/tub that night. The water would not drain and I figured that the maid will figure it out when she cleaned the next day. I did not want to call the desk just to see if the maid would take the initiative and get this taken care of...Day 4 and the bathroom tub is still clogged. As a test, I dropped a piece of paper on the floor to see if the room is vacuumed on a daily basis. NOT!!! The piece of paper was still there when I checked out. As a Diamond Elite, I eat my breakfast and pick up my nightly water bottles at the Executive Lounge. This hotel did not have one and they refused to provide me with water bottles stating that only two bottles would be provided at checkin and that's it. At $185/night I thought a couple of bottles a night shouldn't hurt their bottom line that much. The hallways carpets look worn out and so are the elevators. If you are not careful you will be sticking your finger in a hole where the elevator button should be. I don't care much for this property, but not all Hiltons are this bad. So from an overall perspective I give this a 3 star only because of its location. Will I stay here again? Only if every other Hilton in DC is sold out!

Dear 681kaisera, Thank you for your review. Thank you for the accolades of our location. Indeed, our hotel has an enviable location with a celebrated history and a coveted service offering. We are a couple blocks from the White House - there are the monuments, museums, and historic sites. Presidents have settled in with us and dignitaries have delighted in our service and yet our most important treasure is our staff. Among this distinct group of professionals, is our world-renowned Concierge, Shujaat Khan, who creates unforgettable experiences on behalf of our guests. Your added feedback regarding your housekeeping service is also received with our greatest appreciation. It is regretful and is certainly not typical of the services that we provide. We do strive to offer high levels of customer care to our discerning guests. It is through these qualities that we continue to enjoy repeat customer loyalty and so in keeping with our service philosophy, the staffer should have used their discretion and offered the extra bottles of water. Your observations have been discussed and we are monitoring those areas where you have highlighted a tweak and adjustment needs to be made. Thank you for sharing and we appreciate such feedback from a loyal member of the Hilton brand. Your reticence to return is respected, however, we do still hope that we will have the opportunity to offer you the flawless experience that you should have experienced the first time round. Sincerely, Stefan M., General Manager

My husband and I stayed at The Capital Hilton for a conference that I attended that we turned into an early anniversary trip. We had an amazing and The Capital Hilton helped us to have a memorable trip. The staff was friendly and willing to help. The housekeeping staff provided us with an outstanding room on a daily basis and was very personable in our interactions with them. The bellmen helped us get around DC with ease and recommended several excellent restaurants. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and we would definitely consider staying there again in the future!!

If you are a Diamond member and going to stay at Capital Hilton then think again. You basically get nothing. No upgrade because they don’t upgrade Diamond members unless you pay for it , they give you 2 bottles of water at the check in for your entire stay, hotel doesn’t have an executive lounge , no drink vouchers, and at the breakfast if you want to eat hot food you need to pay an extra 8 dollars person . So the waiters are looking in your plate what you are eating , woow thats customer service at its best.
Rooms are normal size with old furniture however I like old furniture but the AC was really really bad.

So why being a Diamond member and always being loyal?? What for??

All my colleagues and friends left Hilton for Marriot. They actually make a difference between their most loyal members and other guests.

Now its time for me to leave Hilton too.

Dear Alwaysonthemove1995, Thank you for taking the time to share your impressions following your visit to our Capital Hilton. It is with great disappointment that I read your feedback as our teams work tirelessly to create a welcoming atmosphere for our guests and so I am deeply saddened to hear that you felt let down by several aspects of your experience. I noticed you found a few things lacking in the brand in general which is quite disheartening. It would please us to know if there is anything we can do to improve your image of the brand. I recently had occasion to travel to Washington, D.C., on business and, once again, chose the Capital Hilton as my place to stay. The Capital Hilton is in a perfect location for anyone going to D.C. for business or pleasure. In addition, the facility itself is very well kept, modern, "well groomed," and most pleasing to the eye as one approaches it. Once inside, the lobby area is very nice, spacious, and welcoming. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. It is, however, the staff that really sets the Capital Hilton apart from other D.C. hotels. The minute you arrive at the front door, the staff are there to greet you, help with your luggage, and direct you to the reservation area. If you need further assistance with your luggage, the doorman and the Bell Staff will make sure you are well taken care of. Even if the check-in line is long, the reservation/check-in process is smooth, quick, and easy. That applies to all of the front desk personnel, but is especially true if Theresa is working and handling the check-in process. Theresa always greets you with a smile, a "welcome back," greeting for return guests, and makes sure that any special needs or requests are taken care of. If any problems or issues arise during your stay, Theresa (and the other front desk personnel) are available to help.....The entire staff (from the doorman, the bell captain, the housekeepers, the maintenance staff, and the restaurant personnel) want to be sure your stay meets or exceeds your expectations.

My son and I took a road trip to a few states up in the north eastern area and on the way back decided to stop and stay at the hotel where we had stayed before when we were in the DC area. Folk's, This has always been a good place to stay as it is located close by to several restaraunts that are walking distance. However, due to the pandemic, the hotel and several businesses locally are not at full capacity. however, you can still go to a local bar and have a drink or eat. Folk's the streets were quiet, clean and no issues with protesters in the area and we felt god about our visit, so go by and stay and visit the are and you will be happy you did.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the Capital Hilton. Even before checking in, I had an issue with the Hilton online check in and I called in to the front desk. Teresa was very helpful w my concern and addressed it to my complete satisfaction. When arriving at the hotel, I picked up my water and went up to the room. The elevators were very fast (throughout our stay) and reached our room. The room was nicely decorated, but what impressed us most was the impeccable cleanliness of the room. Even in these days of corona, I occasionally check in to a room that’s less than perfect. I was delighted that the room was just spotless and so was the bathroom.
Overnight was quiet and it was a very peaceful night. The following morning we went down for the grab and go breakfast. This was a letdown. Signage to the location were lacking and myself and other guests had to wonder around to find the location. We had to wait through a long and slow line, only to discover a very limited, small and not very appetizing bagged breakfast. Coffee was dispensed one at a time by the single attendant. This was by far the low-light of our stay. We used the app check out.
All in all, the hotel was a pleasure except for the breakfast which I would skip next time.

I was greeted by Theresa at both check in and check out, and she was very friendly and helpful! I stayed in a basic room (no fridge/microwave) and most hotel amenities were not available due to COVID. My chief complaint: bottled water was not easily accessible. Specifically, the vending machine on the 8th floor was sold out and complimentary water was not available in my room. With both the restaurant and gift shop closed, the vending machines should be well stocked at all times. But to be fair, I didn’t bring this to the attention of hotel staff because I was preoccupied during my stay. That said, I don’t think you should have to leave the hotel to purchase snacks or water at a decent price (COVID or not). Thankfully, I brought a water bottle with me so I was able to fill it at the water station located in the gym. The hotel is nice and in a great location; within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and the metro.

My husband and I stayed there for a mixed business and pleasure trip for 5 nights February 4-9th. Our room was on the 5th floor. The hotel is very nice and staff was friendly with a great location, however there was no hot water in our room at the sink or to shower when we came back from a cold day out. They sent someone to try to correct the problem with the lack of hot water but there was nothing they could do. Old pipes, older hotel, boiler not hot enough, blah, blah, blah. Not sure if the problem is only with the 5th floor. I did see other guest reviews mention same issue so the hotel must be aware of this at this point. In short Five days of showering with no hot water totally unacceptable for any guest. Asked to change rooms but were told water might be the same in another room and hotel was fully booked. They did give us 1 complimentary breakfast in the hotel, which was nice and appreciated, but didn’t come close to making up for lack of a hot shower at the end of our day. We’ve never had this problem in any of our other travels. Unfortunately we will book somewhere else on our next visit.

The hotel was located near all the major Smithsonian museums and the White House.
The hotel was a little outdated no usb charging stations in the room, no refrigerator in the room, had to go downstairs to heat up food, and the rooms had rug which is out dated. The hotel staff was pleasant and the room was clean however the personal mirror in the bathroom was rusted.
The hotel restaurant and parking was very expensive and the quality of food wasn’t that great.
