A beautiful building, spotlessly clean with very fast elevators. The cleaning staff were friendly, always asking if there was anything we needed when we saw them in the corridor. Our room was enormous, we'd obviously been upgraded from the size of room our travel agent had booked us into. Negatives...using paper cups in the rooms rather than china/pottery ones seems rather wasteful and not very eco-friendly. The final negative that made me seethe tbh, was not offering free WiFi unless you are a Marriott member. They wanted 12.95/day for WiFi, which, I'm sorry, in this day and age is absolutely shocking!!! This is the fourth and admittedly the poshest of all our stops during our trip and the only one NOT to offer free wifi. Get with the 21st century Marriott!!

Experienced the mayflower hotel during a business trip after numerous coworkers and reviews recommended it. The king deluxe room turned out to be quite congested and had an issue as I read from others with the bedframe, sticking out and bumping into it often. The room I was assigned could’ve used a more detailed cleaning as there was numerous dark colored hair, left all over the bed floor and bathroom I found the lighting in the bathroom to be more dim then I prefer, the tub slowly drained and prices in the Edgar restaurant and bar did appear to be a little more on the high side. To my surprise, though if you asked for specials, that is when the staff would hand you an envelope with top-secret on it and enclosed would be a listing of daily/nightly specials for drinks and food. The front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful. I assume most stay at this hotel due to the convenience of having a Metro stop right within the building however, if that is not of interest, in my opinion, the hotel does not offer much more than the nostalgia and the fact that you can say you’ve stayed at the Mayflower Hotel. Neither which I cared for while on a business trip.

This hotel is anything but luxury and has terrible service. It also has dishonest early checkout practices. The first problem was on check-in. They put me in a room that was already occupied. I went up to the 4th floor room that I was assigned (supposedly an upgrade) and found a do not disturb sign on the door. When I went back down for a new room, the front desk said housekeeping probably left it there. What? Housekeeping ins’t supposed to go into a room with that sign on the door, so the room, if empty, probably hadn’t been cleaned. Or, if housekeeping was in there, they put the sign on the door and didn’t take it off. Either way, very poorly trained staff. The second problem was the room they finally assigned me. If it wasn’t the worst room in the hotel (#805) then this place is a dump. The air conditioner rattles constantly. It sounds like a jet engine. I couldn’t sleep at all the first night. I tried to book a room at 3:00 a.m. at the Meridien in Arlington or the Residence Inn nearby but wasn’t able to book one online for that night and nobody at those hotels answered the phone. So I was stuck there and couldn’t get to sleep until 5:00 a.m. The room furniture is run down and poorly arranged. There is no sitting area and no chair or couch. The desk chair sagged and was way too low (is everybody who uses this room 10 feet tall?). And there was no place to work. The “desk” was simply a part of the TV credenza, but the TV covered nearly all of the work area. The remaining area was covered by the coffee pot and its accoutrements. The final nail in this place’s coffin is its dishonest early checkout practices. I told the front desk on check-in on a Wednesday that I may check out a day early. They said no problem. When I checked out on Saturday, they said they were charging for my entire stay. The front desk staff played dumb. They kept saying you can check out early, as though I was saying I was in physical captivity and wanted out early. I know I can literally walk out of the hotel anytime. Their contrived “misunderstanding” was a way of dodging the fact that they were charging me for the entire stay despite saying it was no problem to check out a day early.

My wife and I were guests of the Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C. from Sunday night (January 22nd)and we departed Thursday morning (January 26th). I tried to write a review of the hotel but I was unable to do so, as the hotel website's "REVIEW" page just showed up blank and would not accept any typed in word, ie. the page is disabled, keeping visitors from writing a comment.
Below are our complaints of the hotel facilities: 1). We booked a suite on the 6th floor with a sitting room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. There are two room heaters, one in the bedroom and another in the sitting room. The heating system in both rooms blows a bit of warm hair all day and night. The fan noise is so loud, even though we set it in "low" for the fan, we still ended up with broken sleep. By morning, our mouths became totally dry and our nostrils had caked with dry blood.
2). Bathroom supply was minimal. Two small pieces of soap were provided, one for the bathtub, and one for the sink. They were to last throughout our stay of four nights. High above the tub were hung in a row, three bottles of liquid: body soap, hair shampoo, and body cream; they were all unreachable while sitting in the tub. There were no small convenience items typically placed on the counter in a 4 star hotel, e.g. tooth paste, small glass for rinsing our mouths after brushing our teeth. We brought a drinking glass from the coffee maker counter.
3). Food ordered from the hotel kitchen were no different from food delivered from outside restaurants. The food did not come in ceramic food plates and silver ware, instead food came in paper boxes with plastic eating utensils. It was delivered in a brown bag by the hotel staff who handed the bag over to us at the door and left. There was no table for eating, just small side tables next to the chairs. We ate out of the box while sitting in the chairs.
4). We heard from some attendees of the meeting being trapped in a malfunctioning elevator. They had to wait for the repair man to fix the elevator.
Positive review: The House Cleaner was very helpful. My wife was still cold at night as the windows are not properly sealed that leaked outside cold air into the room. The House Cleaner arranged to have extra blanket added to our bed.

I’ve stayed at the Mayflower frequently 30 years ago when it was still a recognized gem of a hotel. Sadly, fast forward, it seems to be playing off its name without providing the services worthy of its brand. Check in was fine, lunch at the bar was ok and service for lunch was friendly. But that’s where it stalled.
I’ve always expected rooms in these old hotels to be small but usually having enough amenities to make up for it. The AC was old and noisy and it’s hard to avoid that in a tiny room (not even enough space to do sit ups). The bathroom was in need of an upgrade and you could see where they removed the containers of bath gels in the shower to be replaced by tiny bars of soap. But the real disappointment was towels. Threadbare at best.
I had a lot of work to do so wanted to eat dinner in the hotel and learned there was just one restaurant (at the bar at Edgar’s). It was mobbed with a meeting group there. I inquired with the hostess what options I had and she mumbled something to me. As I tried to ask her again if there was anything else I could consider she just walked away mid sentence. So I grabbed my coat and spent my money elsewhere.
The I’m glad I had to get up early as housekeeping was holding a shouting match in the hallway outside my door. I felt bad for anyone who wanted to sleep in.
Finally, I checked out on December 15. The stay is still not showing in my BonVoy account so I can’t get a copy of my bill for expense purposes. My assistant called to have them email it and they send they would email instructions on how to get it. It’s now the 17th and I’ve heard nothing. Ironically, I just checked out of a Hyatt Centric in Chicago. Within one minute my invoice was in my inbox AND in my Hyatt account.
I hear the pandemic related excuses many properties give for service issues. If that’s the case, don’t charge me pre-pandemic rates for pitiful post-pandemic service. It wouldn’t take a lot to bring this hotel back to its old self but it seems Marriott chooses not to make that investment.

The Mayflower has a marvellous history which is visible throughout the public areas of the hotel. Edgar's bar serves good food and drinks in a unique setting. Scarlett and the front desk team were always willing to help with a smile, even when the lobby was busy. Rooms are spacious and feel luxurious. Excellent tourist location, though most guests seemed to be there for Business.
Bonvoy Gold Elite was recognised with additional $5 credit daily (Hilton offer a lot more!) , and late checkout. No room upgrade available.
Uber credit took 3 requests at reception to receive, and no clarity on how to redeem trolley tickets. Capital Hilton round the corner is much more on the ball with destination fee amenities. Had to request coffee creamer as housekeeping forgot this. Only one type of coffee in room, no tea.

We chose this hotel because we felt it was a good location for the places we planned on visiting during our stay. It is not the type of hotel we usually like to stay in but it worked out. Our room was a standard size with nothing special about it. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom was sufficient, We had a few issues with our room: connecting to the TV to streaming needed to be fixed by staff, the tub/shower did not drain well and there was a broken window shade. We made requests for the repairs and the maintenance man tried to fix the tub but it still did not drain well. They never fixed the window shade. The room had fairly worn out furniture and the bath towels were not very soft. The staff were very nice to deal with.

Due to a knee injury that hampered my mobility, I had called weeks ahead of trip to request a room with easy accessible step-up shower. The room we got, located in the middle of long hallway on the MVC Pulse 7th floor, came with an abundance of bathroom grab bars. However, taking a shower still required stepping into a shallow bath tub. And it’s a twenty-plus feet walk from bed to bathroom. Otherwise, it’s a lovely, spacious, comfortable room replete with ample closet space, a large TV, a desk, large sofas, and a king size bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room just down the hall from ours was where President Roosevelt made a famous speech decades ago! Another things we liked about this historical landmark hotel was its proximity to the Farragut North Metro station with easy access to Union Station and Reagan National, and short distance from many DC attractions.

My stay at The Mayflower fit the bill for what I needed for this visit to Washington. I came to DC to pay my respects to President Carter at his lying in state, so I wanted a comfortable hotel that was well located with a more business like atmosphere rather than a hotel that would attract tourists and families. The Mayflower fulfilled all of these requirements. The staff I encountered were all polished and professional and it was a nice surprise to be upgraded to a larger, king size room. The room itself was fine and probably on the edge of needing some updating but it was roomy and the bed was very comfortable. I think the hotel would be smart to refurbish the elevator interiors (sand down and restain that wood) and maybe redo the brass doors in the lobby. I felt like these contributed to the hotel feeling dated. A lot in the lobby seemed to be exactly the same as when I stayed here with my parents in 1984! Hallways upstairs looked nice & renovated. I felt like nighttime security was lax however and there was no barrier to anyone walking in & taking an elevator upstairs. Security should be tighter at night. The attached restaurant was very average (especially breakfast) but the staff was nice. Overall good stay!

Hello and apologies for the delayed response. If you are arriving after November 15th, you will be able to take the metro as their Silver line will begin service from IAD on the 15th. If you would like to avoid the metro, there is the 5A bus that will take you to Rosslyn, VA and you can change busses from there or use a rideshare (Uber, Lyft, Taxi). Rosslyn is about 3 miles from the hotel. You can also just use a rideshare from IAD to the hotel (rates vary).
