We stayed over Thanksgiving weekend. The staff greeted us every time we entered with a quick hello/hi and were extremely helpful when we had questions. The lobby/breakfast area was very clean as was our room. The breakfast was a pretty standard hotel breakfast - a few hot items, pastries/yogurt/cereal, etc. We did like that they had bottled water set out as well as juice/coffee, etc. Our only complaint was the shower in our room had terrible water pressure and we had to space out our showers as the hot water seemed to run out quicker than most places. Also be prepared to pay for parking - you can use the hotels parking which is $45 (I think, maybe $48) or there is a garage for $16 next door. We also were able to park on the street Saturday evening until Sunday morning (Monday - Saturday evening there is a 2 hr limit to street parking).

We went for a night when we were on spring break. Let me say, this hotel was above average!

They allowed us to leave our bags for when we went and did stuff. The staff was super nice and the Valet people were very attentive. It was $50 per stay/per car, which wasn't really a problem.

We had to check in a bit early because a family member was not feeling too well and needed to lie down. They let us without hesitation.

There was a pool, which was a bit cold. It was nice to relax in a cold pool because of how hot it was.

The room was really nice and big. There was a desk, a dresser, and a closet. They did a great job designing the bathroom because it felt like we were in a luxurious hotel.

In the evening, I asked for some earplugs because we found out another family member with a baby was going to be coming. The ladies at the front desk gave me some to take back to the room and we had a nice chat about DC.

In the morning, we went down to get breakfast. The breakfast was unlike other hotel breakfasts we have been to. There was a waffle maker, different types of cereals, eggs, yogurts, bagels, and a lot more.

Overall, our stay was really nice and the staff contributed to that.

The Hampton Inn White House was the perfect place to stay downtown. It was just a few blocks easy walking from many DC attractions and a block from the Farragut West metro station putting all of DC within reach. The room was spacious and had large bottles of toiletry items. I had plenty of towels and extra blankets. Two things to note: they do not enter your room unless you request cleanup. Overall this is a feature I like but the trash cans fill up fast if you bring food back to your room.
And second note: the pillows are the worst! They look fluffy sitting there but as soon as you lay down they flatten to nothing. Definitely bring your pillow along if you want support.

I would have given a higher rating if not for something that occurred after our departure. Our stay was pleasant. The room was comfortable, the complimentary breakfast, free water bottles and 24/7 coffee/tea in the lobby very much appreciated. We didn't mind that it was a bit of a walk to some of the Smithsonian museums.

After returning home, we discovered the hotel belatedly charged us an additional $50 with no explanation. After several attempts to contact Anthony, the manager, we were told a housekeeper had heard barking coming from our room. They came to the conclusion we'd sneaked a dog in during our stay without paying the pet fee. We do not own a pet. Even if we did, how could or why would housekeeping know if we had or hadn't been charged the pet fee at check-in? Why was this additional charge not mentioned while we were still guests or at check-out? And to incur a pet fee with no proof other than housekeeping heard a dog bark isn't convincing, considering there are other rooms close by.

We are in the process of disputing the charge in other ways, since we could not reach a resolution with the hotel directly. Having previously stayed at other Hampton Inns, this incident has made us reluctant to book with them again, no matter how good the rates may be.

Dear 639kathyc, We are a pet-friendly hotel, but there is a fee associated with dogs staying at our property. While we cannot comment on specific guest matters due to our privacy practices, we can confirm that we work to ensure all our valued guests are aware of our policies, including the pet fee. We do not assign fees like this one without proof that it is warranted. We have refunded the charge. I'm at your service should you require additional assistance. Everything about this hotel is great, except for the water pressure in the shower. I ask for the issue to be looked at and they came within 5 minutes. They changed the shower head and unfortunately it still was not much of a shower. The staff was outstanding from the front desk people, to the staff that worked in the breakfast area, as well as the personal that cleaned the room. They tell you right up front that rooms are only serviced every other day, unless you ask for service each day. We were there over Thanksgiving and even though it was not our day for service, our room was cleaned on Thanksgiving day(AWESOME). The location is perfect for just about any thing you want to do in DC. There are two metro stops within a 5 minute walk. It is also an easy walk down to the White House and the National Mall. You have lots of options for food and drink within easy walking distance. If you are looking for a place to stay in DC, The Hampton Inn/White House checks all the boxes.

I stayed here as a solo female traveler on my first trip to D.C. Safety was my number one priority and concern, and I did not feel unsafe at any time during my stay. The front desk and valet staff were very friendly and happy to provide local recommendations. The surrounding area was clean and well-trafficked, and I felt safe walking around alone at night. Close to lots of great restaurants and cafes. ~30 minute walk to the monuments and the national mall which is very doable on a nice day. If walking isn't for you, Farragut West Station with direct lines to the Smithsonian station is just steps away. I would stay here again based on the location alone. It is certainly a no-frills hotel, but the rooms were clean and well kept. The complimentary breakfast was a nice addition to save some money but not a 5 star meal. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience for the low price of the hotel.

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Hampton Inn Washington / White House. The hotel is housed in the historic Kimplinger's Editor building. The hotel has a boutique feel with all the amenities you expect from a Hampton Inn with a downtown DC feel. This property is literally steps from the White House and all of the DC sites and so convenient to two Metro stops (Farragut West and Farragut North).

The staff at this Hampton Inn was TOP NOTCH! They couldn't have been more friendly!

The lobby is great with lots of comfortable seating that doubles as seating for breakfast. Their breakfast is classic Hampton Inn (without waffles and dishes with hot food due to COVID). The do have yummy breakfast sandwiches that can be heated along with all the other food you'd normally find at Hampton Inn.

The rooms are decently sized for a downtown hotel. We booked a King premium which looked to have a bit more square footage along with a fridge stocked with drinks and snacks that they will replenish daily upon request. (They don't offer daily housekeeping, however they did replenish our towels and emptied trash upon request.) Rooms are VERY clean as are the bathrooms. Please note the AC system in the room has a motion sensor. When you re-enter the room it takes about 5 minutes for the system to turn back on. We originally thought there was something wrong with the AC. It would be nice if the hotel offered a small table tent sign to educate guests to this quirk with the system.

The hotel was quiet even though it seemed to have lots of families.

This hotel offers an indoor pool and exercise room in the basement.

You can't go wrong with this property!

The hotel is in a brilliant spot- we were able to walk to many of the awesome attractions Washington DC had to offer, and had easy access to the subway to the sights that were not in walking distance.
The included breakfast was amazing- my boys especially loved the waffles! As we were travelling a bit, having a laundry room was really convenient.
We stayed at 15 different places during our 2 month trip, and Hampton Inn Washington DC/Whitehouse helped make Washington DC our favourite place of all.

This Hampton is in a great location for sight seeing, and it is right around the corner from a few Metro stops to get you where you need to go. I did appreciate that they provided us water bottles upon arrival, and there is a little sundries shop off the lobby with a limited selection of food and drinks. There was a hot breakfast every morning, and I felt like there was a fairly good variety of breakfast items to choose from.

Housekeeping is provided upon request only, so you’ll need to be asking for TP and soap refills if you’re there a few days. The front desk staff were not super warm, but they help when asked.

Our room did not have a fridge nor a microwave, so you’ll be eating out or snacking on non-refrigerated foods. The shop in the lobby does have a microwave, but that is not super convenient when you’re staying on the 11th floor.

Overall, I don’t think I’ll be returning to this location if I can find something similar in the area, but it’s definitely not the worse you can do in this area.

My recent stay at Hampton Inn Washington, DC/White House was disappointing. Multiple billing issues arose when the location canceled my reservation without approval, rebooked it three times at a much higher rate, and charged my credit card over $1,200. Resolving these problems with Hilton was a challenging and frustrating process. As a premier loyalty member, this was the worst experience I've had at a Hilton Resort. Stay away from this location if you can. Opt for a different Hilton property in the area to avoid the issues I encountered during my stay.

They do not have gluten free listed items but they have scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal (may not be gluten free oatmeal), potatoes, yogurts that could work. The yogurts however are not sugar free. Basic fruits. There is a Safeway two blocks away to help supplement if need be.
