Despite the Melrose Georgetown Hotel's prime location and commendable cleanliness, some travelers have voiced concerns over unexpected fees that they feel diminish the hotel's value. The rooms are generally appreciated for their cleanliness and comfort, yet a few guests have encountered maintenance and noise issues. While instances of disorganization have marred the service for some, many guests commend the staff's friendliness and professionalism. The hotel's atmosphere and amenities receive mixed reviews, with praises for room cleanliness and essential amenities but criticisms of outdated decor and underwhelming additional offerings.

Business Trip. I had to share a room with a colleague from work. The bathroom sink area doesn't have a door. Therefore, when the roommate was sleeping, I used a phone flashlight so the bathroom light didn't shine on her bed. It's not a good design when sharing the room. Besides that, the room was clean and had a fridge, which is great because they will charge you over $10 for a bottle of water! Go to Trader Joe's around the corner or the 7-ll or Wholesale Foods and stock up the fridge with reasonably priced water/drinks.

The hotel is very central. The metro station (where the Silverline Express also stops from the airport) is only a few minutes walk away (out of the station and then go left). This gives the hotel easy access to all the attractions. The hotel is decorated in George Washington style, pictures of him everywhere or things from history.
Everything looks very cozy and has charm without being old-fashioned. It has a very nice lobby and has an elevator.
Our room was relatively dark but very large, quiet and cozy. We had air conditioning. A TV, fridge, coffee machine, iron, bathrobe, hairdryer and toiletries in the bathroom.
Check in and checkout were quick and easy. The staff were very nice. In the lobby there was free water for a donor. The water in the room costs 10 dollars plus taxes;-)
Near the hotel there are several options for breakfast, but all relatively expensive. A supermarket can be found about 200m out of town. Subway and Starbucks are available at the hospital at the metro station (through the main entrance to the hospital, then left).
In the area there are many buildings of the university, it was safe and we felt comfortable and safe even in the dark.
The place is definitely recommended and we will book it again if we return to D.C. Trips.

Nice hotel, spacious room. In the morning you can get coffee/tea in the lobby. Asked Lelise if we could check out a little later. Wasn't a problem. Because a suitcase was not taken on the plane, Lelise offered toothbrushes and toothpaste and was very helpful. 20 meters from the hotel is a sandwich shop where you can get breakfast.

My partner and I were extremely excited and looking forward to this DC trip. The icing on the cake was supposed to be staying in this luxurious and might I add expensive hotel. However, what we received during this stay fell drastically below our expectations. The room that we were placed in was not indicative of the online photos for the room type we chose. We were refused the complimentary breakfast and the reason given to us by Eno with the head female desk clerk cosigning was that because we paid in advance for our hotel stay we weren't entitled to partake in the complimentary breakfast and that we would have to pay out of pocket. What neither my partner nor I could understand was how could we be refused access to something that is labeled complimentary which means FREE OF CHARGE. Shortly after 8PM on the first night a housekeeper entered our room while we were in bed. Literally just let herself in without knocking or announcing herself in any way. The television package is very much antiquated. It only consisted of 44 channels most of which are duplicates and lacked the ability to use methods such as SmartView. On the third night the heat went out. I contacted the front desk to notify them and request assistance as it was very cold at the time. The clerk stated that the maintenance engineer would be right up... Needless to say the maintenance engineer never showed up. We checked out of the hotel the next day and he/she still had not made a visit to the room to check! Last but not least the housekeepers were very unorganized. They never could get the time correct on when to come clean the room even though it was the same time all 3 days. Not to mention the room was haphazardly cleaned to begin with. Upon check in, the bathroom had blood on the side of the toilet, gum attached to the wall of the shower and the bedside table were filthy and sticky. It was not what we envisioned for paying $1200 for a 3 night stay.

This hotel is a 10 minute walk from Foggy Bottom subway station, and an excellent base to visit Washington.
A delightful receptionist said we had paid in full in advance and that we therefore only needed to pay a $400 deposit for our 4 night stay, which would be refunded in due course. I enquired if I could pay this in cash to be refunded upon departure but this is not an option credit card only.
Tea and coffee are freely available in the mornings just above reception from 0700.
The room is huge with an incredibly large and comfortable bed. The bathroom has a bath. The room comes with a coffee maker. The door to enter the room has a 1 inch gap at the bottom, so anybody closing doors chatting in the corridor is a problem. It must also be said that some people take immense pleasure in slamming the doors. We were very surprised that in an old building how much conversation we could overhear from the room next door, but maybe the 1 inch gap in the door is the explanation.
Immediately to the right if the hotel is a cafe/shop where you can obtain breakfast, wine, beers, fruit, muffins and sandwiches wonderful place. You can sit inside or out.
We collected travel cards from a machine at airport which you can top up to enable you to use the subway. As an example Foggy Bottom to Dulles Airport 1 hr away is $6.

The location is good. Not exactly in the heart of Georgetown, it’s about 15 minutes walk. Same goes for the main attractions such as Lincoln memorial, that was about 25 minutes walk. Front desk is very friendly. The lobby is nice and large with lots of seats. The room is very spacious , we had a king bed room on the second floor. But the room is very dated. The carpet had lots of stains. The shower head drips and looks like it should be replaced. Molding around the room could be clean a little better. Overall, have lots of potential to be great but need a refresh. With fees, it’s over $300 a night on a Wednesday night, with that price, not even complimentary water in the room. A bottle of water was $10!

We had a pleasant stay with my friend in this hotel. We liked the ambiance both of our room (Deluxe King Room) and of the hotel lobby. The location is very good with a bus stop just at the corner, which serves 2-3 bus lines. Also the Foggy Bottom tube station is about 5 minutes walk. We have enjoyed our stay, had no problem at all, the room was nice and spotless, check in and check out went quickly and an airport transfer was organized for us also perfectly, that we requested one day before our departure. Only disappointment was that they charged this historic building maintenance fee per night, however the hotel did not look like a historic, old house to me! Anyway, we would return here on the occasion of a next visit, hopefully sometime in the not too distant future.

The room was very comfortable and the staff were all welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The bed, pillows and linen were an excellent quality and the hotel is both quiet and handy for walking into central Washington (approx 1 mile). The room rate was also very fair for the quality of the accommodation - thank you all.

Great location and walking distance from Georgetown district bubbly with restaurants shops and stores. This hotel is on one of important avenues of DC, so the circulator bus (just a dollar for great sighteeing) stops almost at the door.. In house parking costs around fifty bucks a night. You can take out and use your as amny tiems needed with the same charge per night. Breakfast is delicious and fancy. For two, we paid sixty dollars. There is courtesy coffee in the lobby in the mornings. We were in a room on the second floor that faced a rooftoop with a transformer tha made an annoying buzz. We asked for a different room and were moved to the seventh floor. This room was much smaller (the first one had 2 couches) and an on and off tip tap from the 8th floor was quite annoying. Rooms have no celing lights therefore the table lights provide a rather intimite atmosphere. Don´t plan on reading much in the room. the people at the main desk are out of this world. They go way beyond their duties to assist and guide you. They gave a tip on a private tour company that was very gratifying. If you get a room with the bed next to the toilet wall, ask for a different one. After 9 pm, the bar shuts down and there is no room service. I will explore other options next time I visit DC.
