The Royal Sonesta Washington, DC Capitol Hill garners praise for its modern amenities, clean environment, and an on-site French restaurant that delights guests. Many appreciate the spacious, well-appointed rooms and the hotel's prime location near Union Station, easing exploration of DC's landmarks. While the service is generally acknowledged as welcoming, a few guests have encountered slow valet service and billing discrepancies. The hotel's atmosphere is often described as stylish and inviting, though opinions on value are mixed due to additional fees and varied perceptions of room rates.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The room was beautifully decorated with huge floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a great view on a beautiful snow day. They even had little personal toiletries and a reusable water bottle which I feel is a wonderful touch. The staff were so professional, friendly, and personable including Jaylen, Tibeso, and especially Beryl at the front desk. Beryl was a breath of fresh air and made me feel so cared for and welcomed as I checked in. Her personality is infectious as she explains all the amenities and dives into the history and beauty of the hotel including its mascot. This is my first experience at a Royal Sonesta and I hope all their other hotels live up to this one. I look forward to visiting this hotel on my next visit to D.C.!

The hotel is brand new. Very clean. It is very close to the Union station so that helps with taking the train. The amenities were good. They gave me a complimentary reusable water bottle—also $10 off on meals per day. My room, however, didn't have any natural light coming in. The window was facing inside the hotel atrium, this didn't help with the jet lag. The restaurant downstairs was good but didn't have a buffet. They had limited breakfast options. Staff in general was friendly and helpful. They did get my final bill wrong though. They added some coffee charges from the restaurant which were not mine.
Overall I was very happy with my stay.

We stayed here during the holiday break in December with our kids and had a fabulous stay. The hotel is brand new and the rooms were beautiful, clean and modern with floor to ceiling windows and wood floors. Our bathroom was spacious and modern with a stand up shower and the beds were one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in, and we travel a lot. The staff was very accommodating and the hotel had convenient valet on premise. They had a wonderful French cafe at the hotel with delicious food and drinks. It’s centrally located by Capitol Hill so was so easy for us to walk to all the major locations to see either our young kids. We’ve stayed in DC before and this hotel is by far better than any of the Marriotts and other brands we’ve stayed.

Beware-There is an additional $34.79 charged for the gym, coffee in the room, bottle water and the water bottle in the room. This is usually included in the room rate. This information should be disclosed to guest upon check-in. Nice hotel but very pricey!

New (2023) hotel central to Union Station (rail and subway) and DC Circulator stops for 3 routes. Room spacious, very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Appreciated two comfy chairs and two small benches in room, plus desk, bar fridge and Nespresso type coffee maker and bottled water. Bathroom spacious with walk in rain shower; also closet containing iron & ironing board plus robe and slippers. Please note there is a daily resort fee additional to the room rate that covers the water and coffee and also a $10 credit per room for meals in the Du Jour restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice hotel and location.

They automatically tack on $30 per night charge that I am still not aware of the reason. Supposedly for water bottles - that were never touched in the room for the entirety of the stay. No pool or amenities to charge this "CM Room Upsell" for. Also booked a King room months out, arrived to a double bed room. Manager says they have no King beds available. Then why was my reservation for one confirmed? Poor experience at this location - due to that and the HIDDEN COSTS per night that management refuses to remove - avoid this hotel.

Wow - what a nice hotel! We feel very lucky to be some of the first to stay. Beryl's entire front desk team was phenomenal! They welcomed us back each and every time we returned. All of our questions or requests were very easily and seamlessly handled. Being responsible for a number of rooms during a business event, it's such a relief knowing our guests can rely on the hotel staff. Special shoutout to Jaylen for managing all our accommodations from the moment we stepped into the property. We can't wait to bring our group back next year!

Staff: professional and friendly. As we walk through the doors on our way back from sightseeing, we are always greeted.

Hotel: very contemporary, upscale environment without the pretentiousness. Our double queen room was expansive with a sofa, office / chair area, coffee bar with fridge. Ottomans at foot of each queen bed. We asked for a microwave. Bathroom had extra closet and iron/iron board. Big shower stall with rain shower head(pressure a bit low). Large size shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Only negative is lack of drawer space for families.

Area: mins walk from Union Station that has Walgreens, Shake Shack and many other eateries. Also across from Union Station is the DC Circulator/NMS. This convenient bus is $1 and takes you around the National Mall to the museums and monuments.

If you’re planning a trip to DC then look no further than the wonderful Royal Sonesta.

Elegant and stylish surroundings with a wonderfully warm welcome. We had the good fortune to be checked in by, Lucila.

A delightful young lady who is as classy as the beautiful hotel she was making us feel right at home in.

Lucila explained everything we needed to know and was always on hand to answer any questions or fulfil our numerous requests for complimentary bottled water, thank you again, Lucila.

The room space was very generous, stylish and modern. Ultra comfortable in our opinions. And if you’ve never slept on a cloud, you’ll come close to that level of relaxation on your first night. The bed is huge and so soft. You’ll love it! Also, apart from the occasional sounds of city hubbub (sirens and car horns which are inescapable wherever you stay,) you could easily be forgiven for thinking you’re the only person in Washington. That’s how quiet the room was.

A L’or coffee machine is at your beck and call, too, with pods refreshed daily by the lovely housekeepers. Plus a mini/medium fridge for all your chilling needs.

Patrons will also appreciate the luxurious showering that awaits them. The bathroom being chic and airy and amply stocked with premium toiletries. (Shampoo/conditioner/ body wash, etc.)

For us, overall, the Royal Sonesta was perfect. Easily a 10 out of 10.

And with Union station literally a few minutes away you’re never far from great transport links.

Look forward to visiting again in the future.

New, beautiful and clean luxury hotel in the center of DC. This location is within walking distant and the service from the front desk (LIZA) to the front and especially the restaurant was impeccable. Don’t forget the food at the hotel was Delicious. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hopefully return during cherry blossoming season.
