Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington, D.C. is set along a quiet South Street in the Georgetown area of Washington, D.C., and is one of the most recognizable luxury hotels in Georgetown. We sit inside of a converted industrial building rooted in history. Our hotel is one of the few boutique hotels in the world to feature a soaring brick smokestack, which is truly unique, and the experience that guests have here is clearly captivating. Explore the nation’s capital from its heart and soul - Georgetown and our Georgetown hotel.

I wasn’t sure what to expect based on pictures alone, but our stay at this hotel was exceptional. Beautiful hotel lobby, beautifully appointed, comfortable and quiet rooms. Yet you can walk right out of the hotel and be on the bustling streets of Georgetown.
The staff was equally exceptional- bellmen, wait staff and attendants. It was my daughter’s birthday and we were traveling alone. They had placed us in a first floor room but upon learning we were traveling alone they moved us to the 5th floor with a beautiful view. They also treated my daughter to birthday dessert after returning from an evening of shopping.
Thoughtful staff, beautiful hotel and rooms in a quiet location within walking distance of everything in Georgetown. We will stay again!

Room Tip:The residence building is a bit of a walk from the lobby, but very quiet and nice.

My husband, two young children and I stayed at the ritz in Georgetown for their school vacation last month. We were trepidatious traveling with a 5 and 6 year old but from the moment we checked in, the staff made every effort to make it an enjoyable experience. They greeted my husband and I with champagne and offered our children a stuffed animal from their red wagon, this was just the first 10 minutes. When we got home to Massachusetts we realized my son left a pair of pajamas (no big deal) and almost all of his stuffed animals (very big deal), still not sure how this happened. When I called I was transferred to Jose who said he would look for them and call me back. About 30 seconds later he called me back, told me he found everything, and that he would ship everything to me and PAY FOR IT HIMSELF because he has children and understands what a heartbreak it was. Of course you except a certain level of service from the Ritz but this is so much more. Cannot wait to return.

Finally got a chance to visit, after being to the other three Ritz properties in the greater DC area. It's a limited review due to COVID times, but still they were open. The property itself is incredibly well-located and within walking distance of much of Georgetown. Very quiet property, far more than the one on 22nd street. It remains a business hotel (kinda like Tysons Corner or Pentagon City), so do not expect too much in terms of fanciness. The gentleman checking us in was kind, but yet again Ritz puts ZERO value in Marriott brand loyalty. Meaningless to them when assigning rooms. Definitely did not get offered a glass of champagne (lol). Suite was spacious and the bathroom was similarly amazing. The gym is tiny. Spa was closed. Breakfast for two (simple eggs, potatoes, meat) in room was over $75 which is egregious. So, if you're a Ritz fan and have most activities in Georgetown, this is a fine place to stay. I'd consider closer hotels if you're time is more towards the capital.

The Ritz Carlton experience starts at the Valet, and ends in the lobby. Our room was in the West building, and our room was dark, old and not well maintained.
The Bathroom: The shower is small, the bathtub was dirty, the toilet is super low to the ground, the sink did not drain properly and the wallpaper was stained and peeling off the walls. The towels were small, and super rough.
The Bed Area: the bedside tables, and the desk had folded paper lining the drawers and underneath the wood was stained and nasty looking. The bed was ok. The mini fridge wasn’t even working. Everything inside was warm.
The Real Bad: We called and had our checkout moved from 11 to 12, and I had just come out of the bathroom and I heard the keycard activate the lock on our door and someone from housekeeping just walked into the room while my wife was sitting on our bed. We had the privacy sign on the door - and it had been there since we checked in. I yelled what are you doing and the person didn’t even apologize and started backing out of the room and left.
Upon checkout we mentioned that this was a super disappointing experience for any hotel, let alone a Ritz Carlton. We mentioned that housekeeping just came into our room without even knocking and told them about our room and they didn’t even apologize.
Needless to say this ruined our experience with the Ritz as a whole. I’ll be reaching out to the hotel manager as well to ensure others don’t have a similar experience.

This hotel is straight out of the ‘90s. The rooms and lobby seemingly don’t appear to have been updated at all. They are old, dark and overlook a “courtyard” which is just a small patch of overgrown grass that lies between your room and the building on the other side. This means you have to keep your curtains shut for privacy. The lighting is poor, the furnishings are minimal and appear to be very cheap; and the service was… During peak hours guest services took 5-10 minutes to answer the phone, then left us on hold for another 10 minutes. The only good thing about this hotel were the pillows.

I came here for a deep tissue massage and got an okay massage that was not a deep tissue. I had specifically asked for a therapist who could provide a high level of pressure, so not getting that was disappointing. Another bizarre thing was that the spa attendant had laced all the water with flavor packs which was absolutely disgusting. Our therapists kept giving us water, and we had to keep pouring it out. I complained about this, but the attendant insisted because she was adding a naturally derived sweetener, it was okay. It was not okay. Don't do this.

Wonderfull experience, king suite room excellent king bed, big bathroom, huge shower, dual thermostats, two televisions, high speed internet. Great desk for working, two bathrooms. The only problem we had was the pullout couch. Two adults traveling with a teenager. We booked the room for 3 and there was no bedding for pullout in the room provided when we arrived late, there is also no housekeeping late so getting bedding was a huge struggle. The mattress on the bed was possibly 2 inches thick and embarrassing for this level of a hotel. I felt terrible asking my teenager to sleep on it. We regularly use a pullout and my teenager has never complained, this time she did. If you have three people DO NOT rely on the pullout for a comfortable sleep, even for children. It is too bad that this is what we will remember.

Turned away upon arrival, due to a verification procedure regarding corporate discounts. I am a consultant, and rely on the client’s business to reimburse my travel. Upon check-in, I was told that my corporate discount verification was not sufficient, and that I would be required to pay more than double for my stay, with myself responsable for the difference (over 50% of the cost). I was checking in after business hours, and my contact with the client corporation was not available to verify. Corporate travelers, beware.

The Ritz Carlton Georgetown, is a gem of property in a fantastic location. Close to the river, I was able to get out daily for a quick walk on the well lit path and safe walking path at night, and of course being in the heart of Georgetown was a real treat. There were any number of great dining options close by although I chose to eat at the hotel.
I stayed in one of the Wellness Rooms, located at the Spa level. It of course had all the luxurious amenities you expect at a Ritz Carlton, but also included a white noise machines and aromatherapy diffusers, soaking tub etc. The bed was heavenly, with amazing pillows and linens. The room was large enough to accomodate a yoga mat and my morning stretching routine. It was quite a treat.
From the moment I arrived, all of the staff was amazing. The check in and check out experience were seamless, and I was personally escorted to my room and shown all of the special features. The service at the Spa, Restaurant and throughout the entire hotel were top notch.
Although I didn't have time for a spa service this trip, I was able to relax a bit and enjoy the relaxation area and the very clean sauna and steam rooms.
The hotel is a boutique style property with an open lobby and I chose to have dinner in front of the fireplace. It was perfect on a cold evening! There is a complimentary and unique candy 'bar' serving hot chocolate, coffee and tea and even hot apple cider. Really a treat!
I highly recommend this property and will stay here again!

Hotel is very run down. Sine ply toilet paper. Torn lamp in our room. Front entry way had empty glasses and paper cups (trash) and no one picked them up!. Very Disappointing! I have always liked Ritz Carltons. They have definitely lowered their standards. Will Not be back here!

Greeting KCon55,
Guest rooms underwent a full refresh in 2014 with additional recent enhancements including a re-imagined Spa in 2017 and new carpeting in 2019.
The hotel is in the heart of Georgetown which is a very lovely walk-able area with shops, restaurants and nightlife. To get to the Mall/museum area metros the easiest but years ago when the Metro was first proposed the residents of Georgetown wanted none of it so the closest stop is Foggy Bottom. You can walk to it but it is a healthy walk maybe 15 minutes but it is a fun walk through historic Georgetown and across rock Creek Park to Foggy Bottom. The problem would be coming home from a day of walking museums the wlak from the metro to your hotel would be extra tiring.
If you want easy access to Metro a better bet for a hotel of that caliber would be the Mayflower, where I have also stayed and really enjoyed (actually better than the Georgetown Ritz) or the downtown Ritz which I have not been to so I would suggest reading the reviews. I know for a while a few years back that Ritz was really sliding downhill but I believe it has had a renovation. Both of these hotels are also Marriott properties if you have a preference.
If you stay closer to the metro definitely take the short cab ride to Georgetown, it should be part of any trip to DC. Aslo, if you have Uber it works very well in DC, much cheaper, cleaner and better than DC cabs.
Enjoy your visit!
