Never stayed in a hostel so don't know how this compares but great atmosphere! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They gave me a tour of the house and a map of the neighborhood with points of interest like local eateries and bookstores. Convenient location right next to the transit line. Sheets & towel provided, lockers available. Single pane...

This hostel is one of the best values for accommodation in the DC area. I did quite a bit of research and no other hotel came close to the price. The hostel is kitchen, bathrooms, common areas and bedrooms are all kept clean and clutter free. The kitchen is adequately well stocked to cook simple meals. One of the best...

The hostel is right next to a subway station which is a short ride into down town DC. The neighbourhood Takoma Park has some lovely shops and bars. These are the only advantages of this place however! The service is terrible! No reception and you can only get in through calling a number - which doesnt work if you are...

CLEAN!, well-worn, all amenities youth hostel. Good systems in place for kitchen, internet, front door lock. Bathrooms honestly cleaned every day. Single room had locking door with key, air conditioner, tv, shared bath. Extremely convenient, nice and helpful staff. The right thing for this conference trip.

Although a bit run down, this hostel had a very homely feel to it, however, finding someone who worked there to check in posed difficulties. As a lot of other backpackers, we were coming from another country, meaning that we do not have cell phone access in the states. The only way to get into the hostel is to call...

A little on the outskirts but right next to the metro so wasn't really an issue. Staff are lovely genuine people people. The house is beautiful on the outside and quirky on the inside. Our private double room had plenty of storage space. The bed wasn't the most comfortable. The bathroom was clean. Kitchen had everything you need. Although I...

The toxic staff made my experience intolerable. I have stayed at over 20 hostels, many of them so run down they had bed bugs and rats. However, out of all them, this was the worst. After a long day, I didn't even want to come home. Stay out of here.

I stayed at Hilltop Hostel for a few nights while I was travelling the states and exploring the capital. The hostel had an ideal location just a minute's walk from the Takoma metro stop - around 15 minutes direct to Union Station. It was easy to get there from Reagan Airport via the yellow and red metro lines, which were...

I like this hostel . very well furnished .the owner is very nice person .The staff are all really knowledgeable and friendly and are happy to sit and chat with you and give you advice about the local and surrounding areas. The place itself is a little out the way but the metro station is literally just outside which takes...

Rooms have bunkbeds that are verry unstable, anybody in the room moving or turning around will mean that the bed will shake, a lot. Beds are coverd in plastic sheets (in accordance...

Our hostel is conveniently located across the street from the Red Line Takoma Station of the Metro system, which also happens to be 1 of the major bus hubs in DC. There is no where you can't get to from here, including Maryland and Virginia. Downtown just a short 10 minute ride on metro, with quick access to numerous tourist spots. Across the street is a lovely park great for a picnic or just laying on blanket and reading a book on a nice day with a 7-11 store next to it for 24 hr convenience that also happens to be a sub police station for a very safe suburban setting. The neighborhood has lots of unique shops, with a CVS and Post Office just blocks away for your shopping convenience. There are also many eateries from different cultures and several neighborhood pubs that serve food also for your enjoyment and relaxation. If you prefer to cook your own food in our kitchen, a grocery store is located just a short walk from the hostel. Need to do some research?
