The Lyle DC Hotel garners praise for its prime location nestled in a lively, verdant neighborhood and its harmonious atmosphere that combines elegance with comfort. Guests enjoy well-appointed amenities including spotless rooms with comfortable beds and handy kitchenettes. While opinions on value differ, with some travelers finding reasonable rates and others pointing out extra fees, the cleanliness and stylish decor consistently impress.
Though the rooms are celebrated for their modern touches, a few guests mention size and noise concerns. The staff's welcoming and professional service often receives commendations, despite occasional hiccups in room servicing.

I loved my stay here. The hotel's decor is great, and the bar has a wonderful ambience. I had breakfast in the hotel a couple of mornings and would recommend purchasing it a la carte rather than as a fee with the room; there's more selection when buying a la carte. The fitness center is small but well-appointed with two treadmills, an elliptical, a rower, kettlebells, medicine balls, dumbbells, foam rollers, mats, and a barre. The one Peloton Bike was in good condition and had Look Delta pedals with cages on the other side. My only quibbles are small ones: My room was on the dim side, especially near the entryway, and the bathroom sink didn't have a counter, only a narrow rim around the sink (not really wide enough to set down a curling iron). I loved the location; there are tons of places to eat within walking distance, and there was usually a rental scooter available nearby out front for farther adventures.

Spent six nights at Lyle DC as base camp to explore Washington DC, it’s certainly a charming Art Deco style hotel. Really, really great location in a leafy green suburb with everything you need within walking distance including grocery stores, restaurants, bars, fast food and public transport. DuPont Circle is a vibrant, bustling neighbourhood, feels safe and is just far enough away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. We were really impressed with the local area and huge number of eating/drinking options.
Our deluxe king room (with kitchenette) was perfect for our needs and equipped with basic kitchenware, Nespresso machine (pods refilled daily), sink and mini bar fridge stocked with alcohol and soft drinks. These rooms are bright and stylish with modern touches, very, very comfortable beds. Unfortunately no view from our 2nd floor rear facing room but imagine high floors at the front have decent views. Our room was serviced each day to a high standard and always immaculately presented ready for us to chill, relax and recharge ready for the next day.
We only ate in the restaurant on our 1st morning, only because we wanted to experience other options but we ordered room service on our last night which was very efficient, everything we ordered was well prepared and tasted great.
DuPont Circle Metro is approx. 10 min walk and bus stops are only a couple of blocks away.
We took the Metro back to IAD which is pretty straightforward: 1. 10 min Walk to DuPont Circle. 2. Red line to Metro Centre. 3. Switch to Silver line, straight to Dulles International.
…and only $6pp. I downloaded and set up the SmartTrip app linked to my travel credit card (Apple wallet) to make public transport easier. Need a valid USA mobile number to register and I used our travel E travel SIM for that.

I recently stayed at the Lyle for 5 nights. The location in a leafy, residential neighborhood conveniently located near Dupont Circle is the best part of this hotel. There were several other "pros": my Premier King room with Kitchenette had upscale-looking/minimalist furnishings and was a good size for me as a solo traveler; the Nespresso machine was very convenient; my room was on the 6th floor in the back of the building and I didn't hear much ambient noise. But the multiple cons make me wonder why this hotel ranks within the Top 10 hotels in DC. As several others have mentioned, there is no true lobby where you can sit down while you wait for a rideshare or plan your day. The front entrance leads directly to a few stairs and the elevators. In the room itself, yes it has a kitchenette with plates, cups, and silverware and a sink but there are no dishtowels, paper towels, dish soap, napkins, etc. So it's not really functional beyond using the Nespresso machine and putting food on a plate instead of eating from a takeout container. There are great restaurants in the area and it wasn't my intent to cook meals in the kitchenette but a few more supplies would have been helpful. They offer wheeling in a microwave and mini fridge upon request (I didn't). The existing fridge only holds minibar beverages and there isn't a lot of room to squeeze in your own drinks or leftovers. The bathroom was lovely but the luxury DS & Durga handsoap and shampoo are placed in big heavy glass pump containers attached to the tile wall. It was difficult to get enough soap/shampoo/conditioner out and the handsoap pump near the sink was leaky so by the end of the day, a pool of handsoap wound up on the floor. I also didn't think my room was cleaned to a spotless level everyday--there was some hair left in the shower and crumbs left in the kitchenette. I ordered room service twice: my dinner was fabulous while the breakfast was atrocious (the hotel was quick to remove it from my bill when checking out). Lastly, the hotel unfortunately had a boiler problem twice during my stay. There was no hot water for a full day and again on the morning when I was checking out. Mechanical things break down of course, but it wasn't a great experience. The hotel was at least gracious enough to remove the $35(!) per night "hotel fee" from my bill. The fee itself is problematic. They only disclose it in the Terms & Conditions section of their website and is supposed to cover things like the gym facility and the bottled water and Nespresso pods in your room. But at this price point, it feels so tacky to charge extra and it's not like we're at a beach resort.

Lovely location and staff. Bar was good (overpriced for region but convenient). Parking is a rip off at $64 a night when there are garages nearby for $25. Rooms are clean and fresh as you would expect and bathrooms have lovely upgrades though finishings are a bit sad (paint that drilled onto tiles, soap dispenser had broken off from wall and so holes were still there and new mount was not that stable from use. Not great views or quiet, which is to be expected with this location, but don’t expect a fridge to store your snacks or left overs (only minibar). Worth the stay and money based on location, room size, and staff (very patient, kind, and friendly).
Probably best for families with older kids though….or business and romantic couples.

We recently stayed here for a week. Upon arrival reception staff were not particularly friendly except one lady whose name I sadly didn’t get but she was working on the afternoon of 22ndApril on the right to me standing in reception. The few occasions I spoke to them for advice they really didn’t want to know. The door men were always happy and friendly. Our room was close to the lift and we could hear it ping and also on several occasions were woken by people returning/ arriving late at night. The lights in the room were difficult to control. Either too bright or went down to low. I wasn’t tall enough to activate the wardrobe light. My husband had to come and wave his arm. We had one robe which was well worn. The carpet in the bedroom had stains. It was impossible to shower without the water going on to the ledge and eventually the floor. The tote bag was grubby and full of leaves. Coffee mate was never replenished or the cotton wool pads. We hung our towels up every day and every day they were unnecessarily changed. In reception there was nowhere to sit and wait for a taxi. Not all negative. The location was good. The bed was very comfortable. Good quality clean bedding. Wifi worked well and the room was a good temperature The price of a room for the night before tax and ‘hotel fee’ varied from $174 to $281 dollars over the seven nights. Big variation

Quiet location in the diplomatic district with many restaurants nearby. At the reception we were greeted very friendly. A “Doorman” is available to help unload the luggage.
We stayed in a very nice Premier Corner Room No. 820 on 8. Floor. The room is equipped with a king-size bed, table with two chairs, carpeting, a 55 inch TV and refrigerator and safe. A Nespresso machine with capsules and free water was provided. Bedside lamps as well as a floor lamp on the “Daybed” provide a very good light for reading. The window fronts had beautiful curtains and curtains. Through the numerous windows we had a bright room. The duvets / sheets were fresh and of good quality. The room was very clean and in very good condition. Enough storage space is available. The hotel was very quiet at night. The bathroom is a good size with a floor-to-ceiling shower and pleasant towels. The air conditioning in the form of a mural! we could run at night, without drafts. Great idea.
We had breakfast in the restaurant of the hotel. Egg dishes with bacon, hashbrowns, toast, jam and coffee for $20 per person could be ordered.
We parked our rental car in the parking garage 8 minutes' walk away at 1325 18th St. NW via Spot Hero for $20 a night with advance booking. A recommended parking garage.
From Dupont Circle, you can reach the Capitol and Museum Mile in 20 minutes by subway. The White House is a 40-minute walk away. By taxi, you are 35 minutes from Potomac River-The Wharf.
We really enjoyed the stay.
I have a lactose and fructose intolerance and would have been very happy about lactose-free milk because oat and soy milk are also sugared. Furthermore, it was not possible to order an omelet without preparation with milk.

The location is unbeatable, the staff is helpful, friendly and eager to make you feel good there.
The rooms, although not very large (there is no place to put suitcases), are bright and comfortable, and do not lack detail, with water bottles (plural) that are renewed when used.
The bathroom is large, comfortable, with shampoo, body wash, conditioner, body milk, hand cream, hand-hand dryer, not the orthopedics attached to the wall, and towels until enough is enough.
Breakfast is a la carte, freshly made, not very varied, but complete and with options.
The only but, and to put it another way, is that the bar, in the afternoon, is noisy and dark. To say the least, I repeat, because the hotel is very, very good.

We loved everything about the Lyle, starting with its location, amid beautiful 19th-century residences and close to museums and great restaurants. We were warmly welcomed by staff at our first appearance and on every return to the hotel over our three-day stay. The lobby's sleek beauty carried over to our room, with its pristine white bedding and upholstery and generous accents of polished wood (including the stunning headboard). Luxurious amenities abounded, including a Matouk bathrobe, intoxicatingly fragrant toiletries, thick towels, and a clothing steamer. Though we ate only breakfast in the restaurant, we found the choices appealing (pistachio granola with orange-blossom yogurt!) and the dishes well executed. We'd love to return and will look for the Lyle's affiliate hotels elsewhere.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days on a room and breakfast basis. The location in a quiet neighborhood full of greenery is great, not far from a central metro or bus. The welcome was great and the hotel was clean and attractive. The rooms were cozy, equipped with every comfort and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is 'a la carte' with a limited menu when included in the stay. The whole thing is quite laborious and not practical. The arrangement is simply unclear. The quality of the products and the friendly customer service are top notch. We also had dinner several times. Also great here, a good range (including vegan, etc.) for a good price and very friendly staff. What we will remember most was the outspoken interest and customer friendliness of their staff. The hotel is generally slightly more expensive, but it is certainly worth the money and a successful stay is assured
