The AC Hotel Washington DC garners appreciation for its clean, modern rooms, though some guests point out the rooms can be on the smaller side with less impressive views. The high cleanliness standards resonate with visitors, contributing to the overall welcoming and stylish ambiance. Despite the charm, the added costs for breakfast and valet parking somewhat diminish the perceived value. The location is a hit for its accessibility to attractions and public transport, even if dining options are a mixed bag. The hotel's service stands out, with staff members earning accolades for their warmth and efficiency.

We had a double king corner room on the 11th floor. Views of the city which was nice. Beds were firm but had a decent mattress topper so good nights sleep. Linens clean and still felt new. The pillows were huge like body pillows so bring your own of your need something smaller. TV was large and viewable by both beds. The style of the hotel and rooms are minimalist so no pictures or wood door for bathroom. Everything is glass, mirrored and modern. This probably is why you can here the neighbor bathroom door and shower more than on other hotels when there are pictures to absorb sound. Staff was friendly and quick to help when needed. Almost all had a mask and when I mentioned the one staff who didn’t they were very receptive. Only concern was that windows in our room opened near the floor with no screens enough that a small dog or even a crawling baby could fit through and fall out. Maybe not their head but definitely their little legs. We would stay again. They offer fresh lavender sachets and water at the desk to take to the room. There is a small “cooler” in the room along with a safe.

I enjoyed my 5 nights stay at the hotel. I got a good deal through the Hopper App and I paid for my Standard King Room $85 per night ($476 total with all taxes), I found this deal reasonable. The hotel in general is modern and updated. I liked how the lobby is designed, also I liked the restaurant next to the lobby. Unfortunately, because of coronavirus it would open only after 4 p.m. every day. But every single night it was packed by people, food in the restaurant was very good. Front desk workers were always friendly and helpful. Every single time, when I called to the front desk and asked for something they satisfied my requests. My room (#1021) was kind of small, but I felt totally comfortable there. If you travel by yourself, the size is right. The room had a standard AC room design. Everything looked modern and nice. The room was perfectly clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small, but meanwhile the shower stall was huge taking like 1/3 of the bathroom space. I really liked the bathroom amenities, they were of high quality. Wi-Fi in my room was working very fast. The hotel has a very good location in the heart of Downtown DC. There are a lot of shops and restaurants around, there is a supermarket called WAWA right across the street from the hotel and it is open 24 h if you want to get some food or drinks. The distance to DC attractions is walkable. For example, The White House is approximately 12 min walking distance. I do not really have anything negative to mention about the hotel, and I would totally stay here again next time when I come to DC. But from the minuses I would like to point out that there is no toilet brush in the bathroom. And another thing that kind of freaked me out was guest access when you want to have a guest in your room. So what they do is set up a key for my guest that works exactly like the original key. That means, it can open my room door and expires the day of my check-out. Moreover, once a front desk lady added my friend to my reservation as a second guest and gave him this key after that. I was truly shocked when I found out what was going on! And after asking them if they give just the guest key as a way to access just the elevators, I got the bad news. The only key that they can make for your guest is exactly the same room key you have! Be aware!

Dear Albert, Thank you very much for staying with us at the AC DC, we appreciate you taking the time to also write a review. I was delighted to see that you found the amenities, restaurant, and room to all be to your standard. We are very proud of the hotel. In terms of the key, I believe there was a miscommunication, we absolutely have the functionality to make keys that have access to the elevators and not to the guests room, I am sorry that it was not communicated to you. Best regards, Ben Deane General Manager

Stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. Front desk was always friendly and extremely helpful with any questions or requests I had. The rooms are new and spacious, and I especially enjoyed the hardwood floors and the simple modern wood-colored look of the entire room. Bathroom shower had great water pressure too. The hotel is also near the Metro station (about 5 mins walk) and near some great small restaurants. Only small complaint were that the pillows were too soft, but that's super minor, and I would definitely stay here again.

For a new hotel, it sure lacked a lot of little things in my opinion.

I'll start with the good though. Staff was friendly, especially those at check-in. Room was very nice and modern, furniture was in good shape, though some fixtures like the reading light & bathroom door "handle" needed to be tightened. Location can't be beat for the price I paid. Yes it's not all that close to the major tourist attractions, but there are a TON of restaurants within walking distance, as well as 2 subway stations.

After that, things drop off a lot. Cleanliness of the room was lacking-guess during COVID since they only clean before/after a stay, they have gotten lazy? I found plenty of debris in the carpet, hairs on the floor, and some sort of green stain on the curtain (baby puke, mucus?). Not sure why that wasn't changed or noticed. Bed was clean, pillows & comfort of the mattress were ok, but could've been better.

This is not really something the staff can control, but I don't understand why the smoke alarms at every Marriott property I've stayed at lately are such a nuisance. This one had bright lights flash every other second, and you might as well bring in a strobe light. It was very bothersome & I didn't sleep well because of it. The fixtures, as I mentioned above, were very clunky. I have to turn on a "master light" in order to flip another light switch on so that the entryway light turns on? Makes no sense, as does the toilet design where you can't lift up both lids at the same time. Walls were paper thin, and I could hear plenty of my neighbors. Seemed like they consolidated everyone on the same floor to make it easy for them? There weren't many people staying at the hotel but I had neighbors on all sides of me. I will say that the HVAC system was a plus, when it ran it didn't startle you and wake you up, but gradually kicked in. Wifi was absolutely atrocious, it cut out after no more than 2 minutes of use at a time. Again, brand new hotel, but can't even get wifi right in 2020.

Food was average, I dined at the restaurant several times. Churros were really good, breakfast burrito had way too much onion in it, anything else I had wasn't worth writing about. One of the staff members who was at breakfast every day gave me my burrito in a bag even though I was dining in, and managed to set it right on top of the drink I had sitting in pretty much the middle of the table, spilling it on me. She didn't seem too concerned, though maybe staff is trained not to freak out about it?

Overall good location & price, so I would recommend it if you don't mind the noise & lighting issues.

Upon arrival, imagine my surprise when a hotel that I paid a mere $67 a night for on Priceline required a $250 deposit! When I questioned this to the front desk guy I was told “It’s our owners” and “We can wave the cancellation fee. We do it for guests all the time, a couple of guests earlier in fact” It amazes me that the front desk was so quick to go ahead with the cancelation, instead of trying to make the hotel money especially in our current economic climate. After some money maneuvering, I was able to come up with it. As a Bonvoy member I asked if I could have my room key as my phone, it’s just easier. Initially the front desk clerk was all for it, then something didn’t work and he asked who I assume is a manger or supervisor said it wasn’t possible because I booked through a 3rd party sight. This is completely ridiculous because I just booked a Marriott property, through a 3rd party app and they had no problem having the room key on my phone. The room itself was average. Nothing exciting. The shower was nice though and the staff was accommodating for a late check out due to a travel delay.

One thing that really really bothered me was that on Saturday night, there were at least 10 to 20 people milling around the lobby. Not a single one of them was wearing a mask and the front desk clerk said nothing. I for sure won’t stay here again when I visit DC. I probably could have gotten a nicer hotel and only paid $100 or $50 deposit where masks were worn by all guests and staff.

Will charge you $250 smoking fee even though no smoking inside occurred. Smoked out front of hoteland it was raining so the smell went on my clothes. Talked with Phillip the assistant general manager and he stated people smoke in the rooms then claim they didn't all the time while stating that the smoke fees are not to be refunded once charged. 100 percent nothing was sparked and smoked in room. Stay Away from this hotel very unprofessional how they determine smoke smell.

Hello Nameant, Thank you again for sharing your concern with the hotel team. Unfortunately, as we have already discussed in detail earlier today over the phone, our hotel takes our smoking and noise liability seriously. Our housekeeping staff discovered cigarette butts and a strong, lingering smell of tobacco smoke upon your departure which are telling signs of smoking in the guestrooms. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Be well and be safe! ¡Salud! All my best, Phillip Min Assistant General Manager phillip.min@marriott.com

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for her spring break so that we could see the sights and she could evaluate if she'd ever like to live and work in DC after she graduates college this May.

The things I appreciated about this property were the convenience to all things monument related, most museums, the White House, etc. I also liked that there was a WaWa across the street and we went there every day for something. The breakfast at the hotel was lovely and includes specialty coffee drinks. The happy hour at the bar is TERRIFIC. Great music, people, energy, a variety of drinks and apps and great friendly service. The decor is sleek and modern and the beds were really comfortable and they have Netflix.

What I LOVED about this property was the staff. They were friendly but not intrusive - always smiled and made great conversation. The front desk staff was especially nice and they remembered us every time we came or went.

The Corona Virus really heated up unfortunately, and we had to check out and leave two days early. Unlike another hotel on the west coast where I had reservation the following week - they DID NOT CHARGE US for early check out.

Stayed two nights at the AC Downtown. It is 5 blocks to Dupont Circle, about 3-4 blocks to the Blue/Orange/Silver Line of Metro, and 8 blocks to the White House, so it is fairly conveniently located and provides easy access to Metro and the airport. Check-in was quick and easy. The rooms face 19th Street (which is busy), the alley (which has some construction and homeless sleeping in it), or an interior room that face other rooms. None are ideal, but in DC the choices for views from the rooms are often the lesser of evils. The room was a bit tight with a small bathroom with just a shower and single sink. The shower was what looked like a prefab shower, and the floors vinyl made to look like wood. Overall it had a bit of an institutional feel that didn't feel very inviting to me. The bed was comfortable. The floors above the lobby can only be accessed using one's room key, and there is typically someone at the front door (presumably because of the homeless population in the area).
Across the street is a WaWa (a small supermarket/convenience store) and next door is a Dunkin' Donuts, which are also convenient.
I didn't have a chance to enjoy the lobby and restaurant area but walking through it the lobby/bar/restaurant were large, open and seem pretty inviting.

Our stay at AC Hotel was fantastic. We were here for 3 nights. The location of the hotel is unbeatable, very close to the Farragut North Metro station (~5-6 minute walk), as well as to the White House, National Mall etc. This hotel is also located in a rather office-heavy area so it was very quiet on the weekend when we visited, which was a plus after being in crowded touristy areas. The lobby is small, but has everything you need, ample seating to wait for your Uber pickup, lots of seating the cafe area, and clean restrooms downstairs.

We asked for housekeeping on all the days we were there and the cleaning was immaculate.

Last but not least, Cortez was a great help. He was friendly and funny and recommended that our family visit the International Spy Museum which ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. This was a great stay and we'll be back again the next time we are in the city.

Had great one night stay here. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a few requests related to coordinating cars and checkout time and they assisted us without hesitation. The location worked perfectly for us giving us easy walkable access to restaurants and sights. The rooms were clean and a nice size for a city location. We were a bit disappointed that the rooftop area was completely reserved for a private party since one of the reasons we chose the hotel was because they had a rooftop bar. In the future, perhaps they could save a small rooftop space for all guests. The only negative was the cost of the overnight car valet service. I understand city parking is expensive but after tax we paid over $60 for less than 24 hours and that does not include the tip to the valet. Would definitely choose this location again for a trip to DC.

Please don’t quote me exactly on this because there may be some extra steps, but there is a metro station very close to the hotel (Dupont Circle Station). The subway should be able to take you from Dulles to downtown DC with no fewer than a few transfers or so. Dulles is a fine airport to fly into, a bit further than Washington National Airport but not too far. Was the subway what you were thinking of utilizing? Hopefully that helps! Others will chime in with more detail I’m sure!
