The Eaton DC stands out for its vibrant and creative atmosphere, complete with unique decor and in-room record players that guests have called out as particularly engaging. While travelers commend the hotel's cleanliness and the attentive service provided by the staff, opinions on the room sizes and value for money vary, with some finding the rooms cozy yet lacking in certain amenities like coffee makers, and others questioning the pricing.
Nonetheless, its prime location and unique amenities, including diverse bars and pet-friendly services, make it a popular choice among visitors.

I'm giving this a "5" rating, but it's based on my own subjective judgment, so read on in case your view is different.
Eaton DC is relatively conveniently located. I was here to see friends and a play at the Shakespeare Theatre Company, so the location was great. You are a 5-minute or so walk from the Metro Center station, with easy access to most of DC. Within a similar raius there are lots of great sites and restaurants, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum and some high-end shopping.
Let me put in a word for . . . Planet Word . . . . which is more or less across the street. It's an innovative museum for lovers of language or other spoken word. If you love crosswords, wordplay, or excellent writing, this is an off-beat yet engaging attraction.
The hotel itself is in what appears to have been a fairly blah mid-century hotel, but they have heavily upgraded it to a kind of retro funky chic. My room was on the small side, but not so much for a hotel in a major city. The room had an LP record player along with vinyl recordings from the 1970s (including one from Pat Benatar, although there were others). I liked it, and particularly appreciated the sense of style.
The lobby area (or actually behind it) is an artistic lobby. They have a range of books, but I found it a nice place to return emails. They don't have coffee makers in the room, but there is coffee downstairs next to the lobby with the apparent goal of encouraging interaction among the guests. If you want a more substantive breakfast, there is an adjacent cafe.
If you want some personality in a hotel with convenient connections to just about everything in DC, come here.

Room was clean and serviced daily. The room included a record player with instructions and several vinyl records, which included albums from Aretha Franklin and Joni Mitchell. The bathroom had high water pressure, and the shower had a fixed shower head with various spray modes. I was on a lower floor, so didn't have a particularly great view. I also had trouble with one of the overhead fixtures because I'm a little tall. I did like the records though, and learned they can be traded for other records at the front desk.
The 2nd floor conference area has several all-gender bathrooms, including single occupant bathrooms and ones with stalls and a shared hand washing area. It also has a gym with a bike, elliptical, treadmills, a bench, dumbbells (5lbs to 50lbs), and water dispenser w/ cups. I was able to use the dumbbells several times during my visit.
Location is across the street from Planet Word and within scooter distance to other museums. The hotel has themed historical art throughout, from the lobby to the hallway and rooms.
The staff were very polite and friendly, including Simone who encouraged me to check my luggage while waiting for my flight after checkout and recommended a place to eat nearby.

My husband and I went to the Eaton with our 4 month old daughter for our friends’ wedding. We live in London, and this came at the end of a four week trip visiting family and friends all over the US. Having never stayed in a hotel with a baby, I had multiple requests! We got a suite and a crib, that they provided complimentary. I was traveling with both fresh and frozen milk for my daughter, and they were so accommodating to take the frozen milk and store it in the housekeeping freezer, as well as ensure our room had a fridge for the fresh milk. In the day of our departure, our flight didn’t leave Dulles until 10pm. They accommodated a 4pm checkout, which was so helpful in getting my daughter some much needed day sleep before her first red eye flight! They then happily stored our bags while we left to go kill a bit more time before leaving, and was so helpful storing my milk and making sure we had everything once it was time to go. My husband and I travel a lot and are well aware that oftentimes, hospitality seems like a lost art. But not here, the staff at Eaton DC were so wonderful throughout the duration of our stay, and joyfully helped us through every request!

The Eaton is a whole vibe! central location, easy access feom DCA, across from a beautiful park and the planet word museum. There's a incredible programming all throughout the hotel, concerts on the rooftop, soundbaths in wellness center, a film festival in the cinema and a record listening series outside the speakeasy. The rooms are spacious, comfy beds (but no doubledouble rooms, fyi), with delicious smelling toiletries. I loved the diverse (in all senses) clientele and staff members. And the front desk team, shout out to Simone especially, are knowledgeable, helpful, efficient and welcoming. Only downside is no room service and the restaurant closes early, but the food is really good and decently priced for a hotel.

My stay at the Eaton DC in Washington DC was a lovely experience from start to finish.
First off, my room was beautiful, with a lot of fun and quirky design elements that added a lot of personality and warmth to the stay. One of my favorite features was the working turntable in the room—such a cool touch. The bathroom was another highlight, with gorgeous black & white tiling on the floor and rich green on the walls, with stunning copper finishes. The hotel products provided were fantastic, and they all smelled amazing, adding a touch of luxury to the experience.
The hotel staff were wonderful—everyone I encountered was incredibly accommodating and caring. A special mention goes to Ibrahim, who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable. Finally, the hotel's location was ideal as it was near to several good restaurants and attractions. I’m already looking forward to my next stay with them in the future!

We have an annual kickoff for our agency, and this year we basically planned our whole trip around the Eaton DC. We loved their mission and offerings within the hotel and how it aligned with our priorities. So yes, I really hyped it up in my mind after planning the event and stay for 6 months, and it EXCEEDED my expectations. Our entire group felt welcomed by the amazing staff and their experiences with them, which created a safe space and fostered an environment where creativity thrived during our brainstorming sessions. It's such a beautiful space, and it's only topped by their amazing team. I have to shout out: Justin, Terry, Simone, Bella, and the wonderful Bellmen, and the entire F&B + Banquet team—the space is inspiring, and their amazing team makes you feel like you belong. The rooms are so comfortable and spacious. The onsite restaurants were a great place to hang out after our sessions, and the location is close to everything we wanted to visit. We can't wait to return, and a lot of our team even extended their stay to hang out longer.

Eaton is very unique hotel, I don't think you have a lot of so called activist hotels around the world. Actually feeling is that you are in community centre that that also has a hotel inside, not another way around.
As such, and especially in Washington, this is very appealing proposition however I have to say for 400+ USD per night I expected a bit more hotel wise, everything else was superb.
Check in and staff were fantastic, one of the best I encountered around the world. Funny, kind, educated, accommodating, just perfect.
Saying that, I will never understand why I needed to show my ID to enter the bar as a hotel guest but again I presume it must be local law since I am well over 41 not to say 21.
Hotel is very quirky, with radio station at the entrance, cool lobby, really great speakeasy bar with cocktails that tell you a story (highly recommended). Rooftop bar didn't impress me, maybe we were at wrong time but it look deserted and dirty.
And now a hotel room itself, room (study king) was spacious enough with comfy bed but for 400+ USD I would expect at least some sort of coffee in the room. You don't get even a bottle of the water. You do however have 24 drip coffee available across reception if you are willing to go down. There is record player in the room so you can play one of four records available, that was nice touch but more amenities for the price would be even more appreciated. I do get activist feel around it but then again maybe activist room price would be nice as well.
If you have breakfast included in your room you will get vouchers for Bakers Daughter bakery which is located in the hotel but is not part of the hotel. You can choose coffee (for European fellows, it is drip coffee, for espresso you have to pay extra) or tea plus one of four meal options. We went for breakfast muffin, it was very tasty but hotel itself doesn't offer breakfast in their own premises.
Overall very unique experience but for this price I will go somewhere else next time.

We had a staycation at the Eaton with our two golden retrievers over Memorial Day weekend. We had looked into pet friendly hotels, and this one did not disappoint. We got a free room upgrade upon arrival, as they saw we had two larger dogs. There is no pet fee, regardless of weight or number so that saved us a lot of money. We ended up finding street parking so we avoided paying $60+ for the valet. The hotel is within walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and bars. We wanted to check out the rooftop bar but it was closed for a special event. Special shout out to Maggie at the front desk who made sure our pups each had goodie bags and always had a treat for each of them every time we saw her.

Hi Rachel - this is Marianne from Eaton. We have four F&B options at the hotel. We have an all-day cafe and a restaurant (both offer takeaway), but I'm afraid we don't offer in-room dining. Our two bars, Allegory and Wild Days, are now open, and both offer food. Thanks for your inquiry!
