Canopy By Hilton Washington Dc The Wharf is often celebrated for its comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, complete with stunning views and a serene setting, although outdoor concerts might occasionally disrupt the peace. The hotel's prime location on the Wharf is a hit among guests for its easy access to local dining and attractions. While the rooms are generally praised for their cleanliness and modern touches, some guests have pointed out issues with noise and amenities.
The service receives commendations for its professionalism, yet some visitors have encountered inconsistencies. Amenities are well-received, but remarks about water temperature and elevator functionality suggest room for improvement. Travelers are divided on the hotel's value, with some questioning the pricing relative to the service provided.

It's a great Canopy hotel in a touristy, safe area. Rooms are not large but are modern and clean, very well equipped, outstanding views from the large windows, blackout shades, magnifying mirror in the bathroom. Comfortable beds and my room has a lovely chaise for reading. The hotel restaurant is quite good and has wonderful views of the waterfront. I really enjoyed my stay here, and hope to stay again after the tourist season - business rates are typically not available in summer. The rooms are mostly quiet but be forewarned there are outdoor concerts nearby in warmer months.
The elevators are quirky but fine once you figure them out. The lobby is 2nd floor, there are elevators from street level. There are plenty of restaurants in walking distance, both expensive and moderately priced. You can catch the Wharf Shuttle or walk to metro and National Mall. If you want an early morning taxi to DCA for a 6 am flight, good luck, better plan on Uber as Metro doesn't open till 5 am - many taxi drivers aren't familiar with the area and don't hang out nearby, it's not like downtown.

My wife made reservations for my birthday-from the very beginning the hotel staff made us feel extremely welcomed. Abbey and Antonio made sure we got a great room with a view. Can’t say enough about their competence and professionalism. After we checked into the hotel, we got something to eat, and then went to a play at Arena Stage, which is in walking distance of the hotel. After the play went back to the hotel and had a beverage at Whiskey Charlie’s. It was a great day that was kicked off by the refreshing treatment we received from Abbey and Antonio.

Canopy @ The Wharf We stayed at the Wharf location with a group of 8 people. One couple chose to stay at the Hyatt next door. This was my 2nd trip to DC so I was excited to be staying closer to the core this time around. Here is my list of positives and negatives: Positives- > Location is very close to the airport and many attractions. Some are very walkable but we mostly used ride share and split the cost. They had bikes available at the hotel ( I didn’t use ) and there are tons of bike lanes throughout the area. > The area is very clean and beautiful. Lots of things to see and do with many photo ops. There are tons of restaurants nearby but the ones we tried average at best and on the expensive side. Everything is at a premium because of the location. > The hotel room was very clean but was never adequately stocked with towels. We constantly had to request extras. Our room view was pretty nice even though are request for a Hilton status upgrade was rudely turned down. > The room A/C unit disturbed our sleep with its frequent and quite loud on and off cycling. On for 5 minutes, off for 1 min. We had to take a sleep aid our last night. Our friend also reported the same thing happening in their rooms as well. > The hallways could use a little more daily maintenance ( vacuuming / mopping). > The lobby is on the 2nd floor which tends to be the trend these days, but to me it is a big hassle. I know that it probably adds a layer of security but the need to change elevators to get to your room and use the key card can be a little annoying. > The evening social hour can be a nice perk but it is not like the ones done by Embassy Suites, so don’t get your hopes up. They set up a cart near the 2nd floor seating area and serve what is considered the drink of the day. One day it may be wine, the next day it could be a bourbon mixed drink. I enjoyed that day but they never seemed to have enough prepared ahead of time for the guest. There was a lot of standing around waiting. > The Canopy Cafe - it is conveniently located on the lobby floor and was used by our group for breakfast each day and a late pizza dinner one evening after a boat cruise. The food for both was excellent! The service team for breakfast were great, but the team at night seemed distracted and very slow. It took an hour to get 3 pizzas! There must be a difference in leadership between the 2 shifts?? > Overall value- we paid with points so there was no direct hit to my pockets, but when my wife told me the actual nightly price, I thought it was a little excessive. The parking prices are also expensive. Would I stay here again? Maybe…as long as it is with points.

I received great customer service upon my arrival my first night. While they did not have any upgrades, the woman at the front desk was very professional and pleasant and the room I got was pretty big with a partial view of the river. The location is right on the Wharf so you have a nice view and access to many restaurants close by. However, the shuttle that takes you to downtown DC is not well marked and the stops are unclear. Next, the lay out of the hotel is very weird. The elevators require that you go from the entrance level to the lobby, and then switch elevators in order to get to your room. There is no way to bypass the lobby even with a room key. Very inconvenient. With that, you expect the front desk workers to greet you upon your return to the hotel, since you have to go through the lobby to get to the room. Nope, not one time. While there is a happy hour, the hotel is super skimpy on the free cocktail, and don't even give you a full drink with ice. The food at the hotel restaurant is fine, but nothing to write home about. I had two issues on the last day. The hotel restaurant hours online were different then when the restaurant actually closed for breakfast, so that I couldn't even get a coffee. In addition, when I asked the front desk if I could get a late check out, the answer was flat out no in a rude manner. Cannot accommodate you. No apology. Finally, as a Diamond Member, I get a resort credit at every Hilton that goes toward food and drink. Here I stayed for three days and only used it once. Did I receive the credit at check-out? No. I had to call back to the front desk and even though she knew I was a Diamond member, for some unknown reason it took her 10 minutes for her to figure out that I was indeed entitled to the resort credit I was told about my first night. When I got my CC bill, she credited me less some weird amount that was less than the resort credit, which required me to call back again. Then the woman at the front desk tried to tell me I was entitled to less than I was credited, and I said, no as a Diamond member, it's this amount. She said she didn't have the credentials to fix the problem, and that she would have to have her manager do it. These Canopy Hotels are supposed to be modern upscale Hilton brand hotels. However, I'd prefer better customer service to the 'modern upscale' feel of this hotel, which is all surface, and provides terrible customer service. I gave it two stars because of the woman that worked the front desk the first night. Based on my experience, I would not stay here again.

I was in the area for a conference and working for a hotelier I felt it necessary to comment on this property based on my experience and what I noticed when staying at this property. First, let me say the location is great and the staff is also wonderful but based on the price I was paying ($500 per night with taxes) I was hoping for a lot more out of a Canopy Hilton property.
The first design and layout issue I found was that there is no TV in the main bar on the lobby level. There are TVs upstairs in the Whiskey Roof Top Lounge but you will be subject to loud blaring music all night being hardly able to talk to the people you are there with. The roof top lounge is a nice party atmosphere but I just wanted to watch a Monday night football game. So, to my surprise there was no TV to watch a football game in the lobby bar but there are TVs to watch just outside the restaurant in these cute little nooks. The only issue is that some smart designer thought it would be great to put a pendant light in front of the TV so you can't watch the TV. Why would anyone design that? And not to mention the wood bench that was very uncomfortable and had little functional use from what I could see. Just very poor design and space planning.
The rooms where also laid out terrible. Never should you be looking over your couch to watch TV. The rooms are just poorly laid out and there could have been other options to make the room more functional. And some of the finishes in the bathroom were showing water damage. It just showed lack of care for the property that seemed to be pretty new.
A few other annoyances. The keycard reader for the elevators is not convenient and it seemed the employees constantly were reminding people how to swipe the cards and get up to their rooms. And the ground floor seemed a lot of wasted space that could have housed a front desk/check in or some sort of greeting for guests rather than putting it on the next floor making guests walk up or take an elevator to check in. It just seemed unnecessary.
I do want to say that the staff was great. They allowed us to eat the lunch we purchased from the seafood stand Jesse Taylor's out on the porch, although we did get a few beers. And the property, including the rooms, were very clean.
Overall, my POOR rating is mostly due to the very bad design and space planning of the hotel. And the bad design choices to stick lighting in front of a TV in the lobby lounge area. I know it may seem like a small thing but these small finishes and touches make a big difference in the experience the guest has at your hotel. And for $500 with taxes per night I would expect a different level of experience from a Canopy Hilton on the DC Wharf.

We stayed for the forth time for a long weekend. Antonio kicked off our stay with his awesome attitude and helpful spirit at the front desk. Our room was perfect! Corner room more like a small apartment with lots of room! The bed was comfy, the halls were quiet. They also had a filtered water dispenser in the hallway for refilling water bottles etc. our next awesome encounters were at the bar with Mickey and Leneyu. Both are excellent mixologists who are personable and interact great with the guests. Speaking of the bar, the drinks and Poke Nachos are fire (good)! The Wharf location offers so much to do and is conveniently located to the water taxi and the Big Bus Stop. We will definitely stay here again and not because of the 6:00 alcohol tasting every day!! That’s just a bonus.

10/10 would recommend to my clients and friends! As a travel agent, not all hotels end up being nice enough to promote to my clients, but this one exceeded our expectations! The front desk staff was great. I especially want to give a shout out to Gulchin, Antonio, and Mariela for being so kind and helpful. I had emailed a request a few weeks ago and Gulchin had a note on her desk waiting for me and was so generous and friendly to check in with us often. It was very special to feel like someone had been waiting on your arrival. Antonio made sure everything was great with our room and I love that you can text message them if you need anything. Mariela was so kind to notice my two boys and offered them a special treat. She went out of her way to greet all of my family. We loved our river view rooms and looking out at the boats! The hotel breakfast exceeded our expectations was one of our best meals of the trip. Get the Belgian waffle or 2 egg special! Everything was clean, location perfect, and shuttle was a huge plus! Thank you Canopy by Hilton the Wharf and I look forward to sending clients your way! :)

Although the hotel is pretty our room was not clean and had many maintenance issues. The AC cycled off and on constantly and was incredibly loud. It bothered us at night while we were trying to sleep. We all felt the mattresses were uncomfortable and offered no support for your back.
For a 4 star hotel that charges 4 star prices they could do much better with their maintenance. The carpet was coming away from the edge and fraying. The room has a mini fridge, which is nice, But the shelf that was converted to accommodate the fridge smelled strongly of mildew and had visible damage where they had removed parts of it to fit the fridge.
The room was a decent size for our family of 4, and we had a nice view of the Potomac. We enjoyed the wharf area and the free shuttle (in front of CVS) to the National Mall was convenient.

Very wonderful boutique type property and the was immaculate.
Had an available Hilton Honors Diamond upgrade to harbor side view with amazing vistas looking over the Potomac. A large suite that made our time in the room very comfortable and pleasant.
Front desk staff assisted us with directions to Smithsonian museums and zoo by advising us that a free complimentary shuttle ran a route that would allow access to Metro trains and national mall.
Later, i mentioned it would be my birthday during my stay and received a complimentary bottle of wine for my wife and I to celebrate.
Thanks to the front desk staff especially Don, Ahmed , Adel and Alex for making our vacation and time in DC as memorable as possible!!

I booked 2 nights at Canopy by Hilton hotel while looking for hotel at the Wharf close to La Vie or within walking distance. I travelled from England to attend a surprise 70th birthday party.
I’ve stayed in other Hilton chains (e.g Doubletree) before but this is my first at Canopy. At checkin, I was recognised as Hilton Honors Gold member. I requested a room on high floor with nice view… I got the best of both views - city and river views. My first impression of Canopy is basic compared to Doubletree. Abby at the front desk was very professional and pleasant. I had dinner at the restaurant taken back to my room. The ladies at the restaurant were very good and happy to pack my food up for me. I had breakfast at the restaurant on my last day - “Hangover Special” … I really enjoyed it. The room and bathroom were clean, however there were stains on the carpet … these are little details that should not be overlooked. Housekeeping came daily to clean the room. Shower pressure in the bathroom was great, however, I experienced water was lukewarm or getting cold one morning and one night while showering, the water was extremely hot even when turned down close to cold. All in all, I enjoyed my stay at Canopy and the staff were very pleasant.
