We had lots of good luck with this hotel and really enjoyed our 3 night stay. I reserved a room with a king room with a freestanding soaking tub, which I specified again in the notes during the reservation process. It seemed clear that having this in writing helped get the room we wanted. I took a long hot bath all three nights.
We were upgraded to a corner suite. (We are IGH members). What an awesome view! I really want to thank the staff for the upgrade. Our stay would have been good regardless, but the upgrade made everything so special. All-in-all a great experience. I would 100% book this hotel again. It’s a really good value for the area and amenities.
We arrived too early to check in, but were offered a chance to “pre-check” so all we had to do was give our names (and a reminder request for the TUB) when we returned after dinner. They held our luggage.
This hotel is in a great location if you’re visiting the museums at the Mall. There’s a free shuttle that runs in a loop stopping right by the hotel and dropping off in front of the Hirshhorn, but it’s also walkable at about 15 min. Lots of descent restaurants and a CVS for basics nearby too. The hotel restaurant was ok, but I gotta say I loved the convenience and the staff was very pleasant. Breakfast is expensive, easily $30-40 a person (we’re from NYC so we are used to high prices, but still). Book the breakfast option with your room. There’s a Nespresso machine in the room too so you can ease into your day.
The affiliated 12 stories bar , which I had hoped to visit for the views, didn’t seem to be open while we were there. Fortunately our room’s views did not disappoint.

I came here to celebrate my birthday(early). Staff was very friendly and eager to help. Room super comfy and clean as a whistle:) Lots of towels and great water pressure. No complaints, just wish I could've stay an entire week. Looked over a few reviews and noticed the General Manager responded with an email and phone number. I've stayed plenty of places, and this GM goes above and beyond to make sure guests are taken care of. I'll gladly stay here again in the future. The is no other choice for me at the Wharf:) Kudos to entire staff for making my stay one to remember:)

I regularly stay at the InterContinental Wharf, and each visit reaffirms why it feels like a true home away from home. The rooms are consistently spotless and well-kept, with housekeeping staff maintaining exceptional standards. The entire hotel team is warm, personable, and always makes me feel genuinely welcome.
Special recognition goes to Hakan, the Food and Beverage Manager, who goes above and beyond to ensure I have everything I need, from delicious meals to fresh water in my room. Kitana at the front desk is equally impressive, with her charm and proactive approach making each stay even more enjoyable.
I look forward to my next visit!

My stay at InterContinental The Wharf was overall enjoyable, with a comfortable atmosphere and good hospitality. However, there are a few areas that could be enhanced to improve the guest experience.
Management of Services : While the hotel staff was generally attentive, there is room for improvement in overall service management. Enhancing efficiency and consistency could further elevate the guest experience.
I would like to commend several outstanding staff members who went above and beyond to provide excellent service. Mr. Sipan and Ms. Jackie at the Breakfast Restaurant were particularly attentive and ensured a pleasant dining experience. Additionally, the doormen, porters, and receptionists were courteous and professional, making guests feel welcome. Their dedication truly added value to my stay.
One area that could be refined is the billing system integration between the restaurant and the front desk. During checkout, verifying the breakfast bill took longer than expected. A more seamless system would enhance convenience for guests.
It would be beneficial for the hotel to have its own in-house laundry facilities and equipment to enhance efficiency and service quality. This could offer greater convenience for guests who require laundry services.
Regards,

This was the PERFECT stay I have experienced in recent times. From the moment of checkin until checkout, it was such a memorable experience. We got an amazing room with the water view, immediately after checkin they delivered a cake for my husband’s birthday. We ordered breakfast in room which was delivered so well. The room was spotless, the doorman, concierge, valet person - each and every staff member we encountered were simply outstanding. I highly recommend this for its awesome location, staff and service.

My experience at the hotel was well below my expectations and the expected IHG experience. The quality and maintenance of the rooms was lacking and more importantly customer service was lacking throughout my stay from check in to check out, part of which I attribute to racism. It seemed that staff were not properly trained to offer the IHG customer service that the brand is known for. For example, the front desk staff were unhelpful, the restaurant staff were impolite and not providing timely service, parts of the IHG experience (pool and spa) were shut down, room service was unavailable when needed, rooms were not made in a timely manner. There were a host of other issues. I walked away extremely disappointed and even when I complained of my experience my concerns were not addressed. I do not recommend given the $ for the value and have certainly had better experiences at other IHG locations and with comparable hotels. One Disappointed customer this time around.

I live in Washington and don't often stay at local hotels, but I chose to stay at the Intercontinental Hotel Wharf in connection with a meeting of a nonprofit on whose board I serve. Staying there avoided having to face rush hour to and from the venue. I stayed in a water-facing suite, which was terrific. The view was amazing. The bath was luxurious with a large egg shaped tub and big shower room. The bed was very comfortable. And the suite was soundproof -- despite military helicopters flying by, there was no noise from outside and no noise from the hallway. Room service was efficient and the food tasty. The gym was adequate, with Peloton bikes and great views from the machines. The meeting venues had lovely views and the catering was delicious. All in all, a first class place.

A well manicured hotel, right on the waterfront in The Wharf district. Great restaurants are close by, as well as being adjacent to a free shuttle stop that goes to the National Mall. The best part of the stay was the staff, though. The doormen were were always smiling and helpful; the floor staff who serviced our room were pleasant and helpful. But the real MVP was Safa, the front office manager. She arranged an early check-in for us, stepped in to help when the restaurant service was poor, and a smile always appeared on her face when we walked in the door. The in-house restaurant was pricey, but the restaurant staff were just as pleasant as the hotel staff. There were plenty of other options to eat close by, so while the restaurant was our least favorite part of the stay, it was still a fantastic weekend.

We played "tourista" with our grandchildren in early October, booking two rooms with river views. The hotel is in a very convenient location with numerous restaurants in the area, from fast food to expensive. Included in price (I believe it was an additional cost when we made the reservations) was daily breakfast which was very good but inattentive staff and slow service. We had drinks at the bar one evening, great service. The front desk and all the support staff were great, kudos all of them and special shoutout to "Ridi". The rooms had a great view with a small outdoor seating area, the rooms though somewhat small were fine and clean. Internet service was good. I would stay at this Intercontinental Hotel again.

Stayed 5 nights and was very happy with our choice. The Wharf was a great location with convenient dining options as well as a CVS which was very handy. The public transit is a little limited but there is a free SW Neighborhood shuttle which takes you to the L'Enfant Plaza metro station as well as the National Mall. The hotel itself was very clean, comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was easy, the pool was small but nice with a gorgeous view over the river, and housekeeping did a great job. Our room was great - had a gorgeous view down the river, a king sized bed, and a nice bathroom. The pillows were a little soft for our taste but fine. The tv in the room had Chromecast which we loved. I think the only things we didn't enjoy as much was that the fridge was a fully stocked mini bar and we would have just preferred an empty fridge we could use for water, leftovers, etc. We also thought the bathroom towels, toilet paper, and shampoo/conditioner/etc. were a little cheap for the price and luxury of the hotel. However, none of those would deter us from staying here again and we would highly recommend this hotel.
