We've travelled 17 years to various places in Cuba (Mexico, Costa Rica etc.) and this is a good hotel. We first stayed at Hotel Ancon in 1999 and 5 times since, travelling with friends. Obviously we like it: there are many aspects of this resort worth returning to. The Beach and Coral reef off the coast are amazing as is...

Cuba is different than other countries, so, the hotels are also not the same category than other hotels in the world :) Money exchange at reception couldn't change money, because they didn't know the rate for euro that day. WIFI - 2 euro prepaid card for 1 hour. Only 1 elevator working. Better climb the stairs. Low chances to catch...

Pros: beautiful beach. Cons: pretty much everything else. The Ancon is a decaying Soviet era hotel. The rooms are passable and the maid was very nice. The food is plentiful but not very good. The pool has been closed for a long time(the website doesn't say this). With some exceptions, the staff are not very helpful. For a fraction of...

Just returned from a weeks holiday from staying at Club Amigo Ancon Hotel. We were two couples plus a mother/daughter = 6 people. We were "returned guests". We returned because our previous times were excellent. We especially liked the beach! As returned guests we hoped that things had not changed too much but like everywhere in the world, things change...

The food was fine. Service was ok. Clean and everything looks fresh. The food was always good. They do their best with what they can get in Cuba 95% of Cubans will never see this kind of food ...Unless they worked at a hotel. Think about it...So don't act spoiled and you will have a better holiday.

I stayed at this hotel as my first trip to Cuba and my husbands first time leaving Canada. The hotel is about an hour and half bus ride from the airport in Cienfuegos, provided by the resort. The busses are new, clean, air conditioned and very comfortable. the hotel is old, however, it was very clean and well-kept. We had...

I guess this is an example of "you gets what you pay for" ha ha. The price was unbelievable from Toronto with a direct flight to Cienfuegos (not always available off season). The weather was great, the beach and ocean, superb. The downside was a closed pool, meager and repetitive food offerings and a "racket" on the beach. By 6:30am,...

Looked forward to returning. Last there in 1994. what a disappointment. The property is tired, needs refurbishing. many of the pervious attributes were either gone or not open. No pool, however the beach is good. Cannot take beach sun all day. no one advises the pool closed and you find out when you arrive. Majority of Cuban staff are always...

As the title says, my first experiencxe of all-inclusive. Pros:- Decent beach, OK food, comfortable bed with a sea view, bus service into Trinidad City. Cons:- All the main bars close at 10.00 pm, plastic containers for drinks, music everywhere including the dining room. Hard to find a quiet spot if you just want to read. Internet hit and miss.
