Awesome place to stay! Everything was clean and easy to use. Kitchen well stocked with crockery, cutlery etc and lounge had loads of chairs and sofa's in which to lie back on and snooze. It's centrally located-right by the ferry point, easy to find and within easy walking distance of town. There are the laundry facilities, video library and a...

I've been hostel hopping for a good few months now throughout New Zealand and the quality varies quite a bit. This one, though in a small town with not too much sizeable competition, does well. The rooms are big- verging on massive for this genre. I was in an eight bed female dorm and we could still have had a...

This hostel is good but needs some money spent on it to bring it in line with the standard across New Zealand. The showers have hooks inside the cubicles which are mostly broken and the rooms don't have lockers but the beds are comfortable!! If I do stay in Picton again I would return here but I'd try to get...

Just wanted to say thanks for a great nights rest. It is literally a minute drive from ferry terminal. Me and hubby had double bed opposite reception. Music stopped at 10.30pm as stated and reasonably quiet through the night. Only downside was we got woken up a few times in the morning as ppl were leaving as we were very...

Free bread and jam for breakfast and free soup at dinner. No lockers in the rooms and 7 minutes showers only. It's a really small backpacker, fells more like a guesthouse. Fireplace is nice. The kitchen is big enough. It's well-situated. I would recommend it if you're okay with comfort but basic.

The place is quite small but in a good location of Picton. My three friends and I stayed here so we got a room for just four which was a bunk bed and a double bed. It is slightly dated, and the kitchen gets really busy. We were in a room that backed on to a track of some sort...

I liked this backpackers, the staff were friendly and accommodating. The facilities are great including a pool table and a great lounge space. The room I stayed in was spacious even though it had 8 beds in. It is also very close to the ferry and town.

The location is very near from InterIslander Ferry to The Fat Cod Backpacker around 7 minutes to walk. This backpacker is so nice it's like a house, all the place is very warm. The toilet is separated to the shower. The shower if you want to use the hot water you must press the red bottom (working only 8 minutes),...

Love the fat Cod to bits. We have made an annual trip to a Waka Ama event on the sounds and always stay here. Great details include watching the trains from the kitchen, easy going friendly nature of the place and unbeatable value. All round good service.
