Detailed Reviews
A good place to stay for a night or two if you have a car, as it’s not really walking distance to the centre of Fremantle. While had a great view of the river and the staff were really nice, the apartments are tired. There were numerous small issues that could be easily resolved; more hooks to hang towels (4 people need 4 hooks); 4 chairs for 4 people; more than one suitcase stand so guests don’t have to ferret around in suitcases on the floor; bathroom door that closes properly when unlocked; more shelving or drawers in the bedrooms and bathroom.
Overall, because breakfast was included in the tariff, I’d say we were satisfied with our stay but it could have been better.

Hi there Thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us. Be rest assured that every day we are improving our property both physically and even better guest service. I have taken your feedback to the maintenance team to look at a good resolution for the hooks and chairs as you have mentioned. We hope to see you back again soon!

My partner and I stayed at Pier 21 for 4 months over summer and would highly recommend to everyone.
Rooms have the absolute best view over the Swan River (we commonly saw dolphins swimming about from our balcony).
Rooms are very spacious, clean and tidy.
Fantastic pool and bbq area overlooking the river.
All staff were amazing! Super friendly and happy and fixed any little thing straight away. Shout out to Garry, the hotel manager, who goes out of his way to ensure every guest has an amazing time.
Pier 21 is situated in a superb location in North Fremantle. Bars, restaurants and cafes are within walking distance. It is a 30 minute walk or $6 Uber into Fremantle city or the beach. There is a walking track along the river out front and a large grassed oval next door.

We had an enjoyable stay at Pier 21. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment booked through Booking.com which was clean and neat with lovely toiletries provided. There were 2 TVs with some free movies provided (and some available to purchase). The apartment was small but fully functional with a pleasant shower and kitchenette (with full fridge/freezer) plus table and chairs. The only negatives about the room were the loud bathroom fan and that we had no view at all (a brick wall), however we hadn’t paid for a lovely view like you see on the internet, so no complaints. Beds were comfortable, pillows a little big.
The staff we met were all lovely - reception lady, breakfast room lady and chef all very friendly and pleasant. We enjoyed using the facilities. We were offered tennis racquets on arrival and we made good use of their lovely tennis court. The outdoor pool was a little cool, but had beautiful views and nice seating areas. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are in a darker room, but the water was a fantastic temperature. There was also gym equipment available and a table tennis table.
We had breakfast included in our booking and the breakfast meals we had (Eggs Benedict, poached eggs, omelet and pancakes) were of a nice quality.
The surrounding area is beautiful for a morning walk or photos, with the river, jetty and boats as a beautiful backdrop. The car park is tight, but our 16 yr old learner driver coped well with the parking. Having a car at this hotel would be handy to get out for dinner, to a supermarket or into central Freo.
All up, a nice stay.

My last review in 2014 was glowing ... now, not so much. I've stayed here many times since and I'm sad to say, even with it's beautiful location, the hotel is failing structurally and with service. The rooms are definitely showing their age with jagged carpet, door knobs that don't work, curtains and broken blinds, and fixtures broken off that have not been fixed. My last stay was frustrating in regards to parking. Parking is precious at this hotel. After being out for the day, I came back at 3pm to find the carpark absolutely full. Knowing this was strange, I asked the clerk if their was a party or wedding happening for the car park to be full. She said there was a wedding happening and wedding guests had filled the parking area. I told her, as far as hotel policy, only one car per hotel guest was allowed. She offered for me, a paying hotel guest, to park on the road until a space was vacant. Street parking was nonexistent since there was a cricket game going on next to the hotel, so parking was being used by players and spectators. I have been to other hotels where parking is cherished and they give guests cards to place on the dash of their car. Any car without a card gets towed from the property. When you pay good money to stay at a hotel, the last thing you want to do is park in the street or fight for a spot. The parking issue was the last straw for this customer, who once frequented Pier 21 a lot. Refurb the place and re-think your parking policy, and I might be back.

Good afternoon It sounds like you did not have the best stay with us and I am sorry for that. as you rightly pointed out, for our in-house guests. We had a wedding party that day that took over the car park and we could not find them to have their vehicles moved. We also have maintenance resuming its regular checks on rooms prior to guests arrivals to ensure that everything is working great and effectively. Thanks again for your feedback.

We were two couples sharing a two queen bedroomed apartment. Direct booking was easy and reception staff very efficient.
Our river view was great and apartment amenities were fine. The second bedroom was smaller and lacked reading lamps. Our towels were replaced daily, however bathroom cleaning, bed making and replacing teabags etc was hit and miss. This is something that could easily be remedied with a bit of helpful direction from management.
The location in North Fremantle is convenient to downtown Fremantle and other surrounding areas if you have a car. On-site parking was fine.
The cafes and restaurants on nearby Queen Victoria St are a 15 minute walk and well worth it. A great area especially at night.
A good sized balcony and pleasant riverfront walking. Overall a good place to stay for us and a good location if you have your own transport.

Compact but quality 2 bed apartment with water views and a great buffet breakfast included in the price. They told us it was fully booked but it still felt quiet and relaxed. The ONLY issue and it’s minor compared to the overall experience is that they still have guests paying for wifi access but that’s it. Other than that minor gripe it was a 10/10 experience

I write this as I sit in the lounge at Perth airport. My partner and I have just had one of the best accomodation experiences. We stayed at pier21 in Fremantle Western Australia.

Thank you for staying with us David and for taking the time to submit your feedback. We are happy to hear that you found your room to be comfortable and clean. I have passed along your feedback to our Chef and she will look into the reasoning why breakfast was not up to our standard cooking. To ensure the safety and security of all our guests, we are unable to open the gate to any visitors or for food deliveries. During our reception hours, our team endeavors to be diligent in calling up to the hotel phones when food orders arrive at the gate. We hope that we can welcome you back to Pier 21 in the future. Kind regards - Pier 21 Team

The living room was really large and we loved the tropical style outlook from both there and our separate bedroom. We could see the boats in the marina directly below on the Swan River bounded by green lawns and palm trees. We had a couple of lovely walks along the river track there.
It was handy to have a walk in wardrobe but the bathroom leading off was small with a lack of any shelf space. I commented on this when we were checking out and was advised that more shelving had been installed in other bathrooms and the matter would be taken up with the manager to ensure the bathroom in that particular room was improved. I thought this was great service!
We chose the cooked breakfast from the a la carte menu one morning and we enjoyed delicious buttermilk pancakes for me and bacon and eggs for my husband. The continental breakfast the next morning was also excellent. I would not recommend staying here without a car as there were no options for lunch/ dinner dining within walking distance.

Booked for 2 nights and left after 1! We had a 2 bedrooms apartment with neither bedroom safe or secure and the balcony wasn't private as anyone could walk round. 1 bedroom looked out on to concrete 'motel' walkway and 1 was off the sitting area with a sliding door. Both tiny with a windowless bathroom between. With arguments and crashing doors all night we didn't feel safe and opted to leave. On explaining to management there was no apology, explanation or follow up subsequently. Would definitely not recommend and certainly not worth the $. Would be best compared to a cheap motel chain out of the centre of town.

Thanks for your feedback. I sincerely apologise for the issues you had during your stay with us. We care about our guests and what you tell us. Some of this is beyond our control with other guests who choose not to follow rules and ignore our no party policy. I believe you have stayed over the festive season and guests are in the party mode. I have not spoken with you being the manager of this lovely property. Please feel free to make contact with me should you wish to discuss this further. Many thanks Garry

There are a number of restaurants in walking distance on Queen Victoria Street and speak with the staff at check in. They were very helpful and on their recommendations we walked to Habitue and the next night we walked to Propeller which is just around the corner from Habitue. Amazing food at both restaurants- we would recommend both.
Good Afternoon, we offer a drop off service into Fremantle Monday - Friday at 8:15am. This service will be able to drop you at the markets, but collection would be based on availability of a driver at the time you are ready to return. One of the market stalls should be able to assist you in ordering a taxi if we are not available.
I don’t know if the airport shuttle stops there, you could call the hotel and ask them.
