A nice little room on top of a pub. I only stayed here 1 night but it was real convenient. 5 minutes walk from the station. Room looked over the beautiful waterfall. Pub downstairs where I had a great thai curry and a few beers. Even a little club open until 2.30 on weekend. (I was there Friday night). In the room I slept good. Didn't even feel like I was on top of a pub. I went up Jungfraujoch the next day so upon checking out at 9am then catching the train to Kleine schneidegg, seeing freshly made baguettes sealed up ready to buy to take with me was a god send. Only a few quid each. Buy a few if going up Jungfraujoch as the cost for food up there is just crazy. But I was told this already by a friend so was prepared to buy at a shop but was handy buying straight from here. All in all, no frills but super convenient in a perfect location. I know prices change but the price I paid was less than 2 McDonald's meals in Switzerland. So no complaints at all here. …
We arrived in Lauterbrunnen late at night, exhausted first from our long flight, then our drive from Geneva. We were starving!! We saw the lights on in this corner pub, with conversation and laughter coming from inside, so we ventured in. The hostess greeted us warmly and fried up excellent burgers and fries, and wrapped them in foil so we could take them on our train ride up to Wengen. Love that lady!!
We were thrilled to have a waterfall-view room! The waterfall was even lit up at night for the first hours. We loved hearing cow bells and church bells from our open window. We didn't have problems with noise as it was a weeknight. I don't enjoy sharing a toilet with strangers but knew that was the sacrifice in getting this location for such a great price. The bunks were comfortable enough but a bit squeaky when you turn over. The rooms with bunks feel like staying in a cabin but we liked it. The sink in the room was helpful. It was cold outside at night (for our Floridian selves) but the room and bedding was warm.
As I'm writing the review it is 23:38 and it's soooo noisy people talk loud and laugh and claps and all the noise come right through the window! Who can possibly fall asleep when it's like an open market underneath your window? I just realised our room is right above the entrance of the pub and people all standing there and chat! The pub opens till 12! Will NEVER stay here again!
This is not a fancy hotel but it is clean and great value. The room was small but clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is popular with base jumpers in the area. The bathroom was across the hall and there is a separate women's and men's bathroom. It would not be a good choice if you can't climb stairs as there is a small and tight stairwell. We didn't notice any noise from the pub downstairs.
