Leconfield house is a beautiful heritage home, and our hosts Richard and Mark are lovely and so accommodating. We had a vegetarian breakfast menu catered to us as my husband is vegetarian and the room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. A relaxing and beautiful location for a weekend stay!

Richard and Mark go the extra mile to ensure that their guests feel welcomed and looked after. All the little things count, like locally sourced handmade soap; eggs from their own chooks; local wine and cheese in the parlour; honey from hives on their property; port and chocolates in the evening; turn down of bedding and delicious breakfasts to name but a few!
Also available for an additional fee is a drop off and pick up service for concerts, restaurants etc. in a very comfortable late model vehicle. We also had the opportunity to pre-book an Afternoon High Tea with bubbles and a light two course dinner with wine and we were blown away with the excellent food and wine served to us. Most of the salad came straight from their garden!
Next time we visit with friends we’ll pre-book a custom winery tour in their transfer vehicle.
Add in the historic ambiance, comfortable rooms, outstanding views including sunrises and sunsets, lovely gardens, nearby vineyards and golf courses, wild kangaroos each evening and the chilled out music wafting along the verandah and you’ve got the perfect recipe for an amazing getaway!
We’re so glad we discovered Leconfield House and sincerely thank Richard and Mark for their hospitality.

We spent the weekend at this special place with my 4 best friends & their husbands. As soon as we arrived at different times we were all welcomed so warmly by Richard & Mark. Our accommodation included a tasty continental & cooked breakfast the orange juice was fresh from their trees & the honey from their beehives. We opted for the additional cost of a meal each night which included delicious homemade bread , desert & a majority of foods from their garden as well as wine & port to follow incredible value! We also opted for the wine tour & lunch stops so we could go away & have basically everything done for us without the worry of a designated driver. The accommodation was so incredibly comfortable & spacious & the surrounding views of this place was truly breathtaking. We can not wait to come back to this beautiful country escape again such a lucky find Leconfield House.

What started out to be a last minute decision to escape Sydney for a few days just after Christmas , turned out to be one of the highlights of our year!
We were treated like royalty from the beginning to the end of our stay at Leconfield House . The wonderful owners and hosts Richard and Mark catered to our every need . We were warmly welcomed on arrival by Mark with drinks in the parlour from various Hunter Valley wineries . We chatted about the wonderful character of the house which is steeped in Victorian history . Everywhere you turned there were magnificent antique cabinets containing crystal glassware or silverware , as well as sparkling chandeliers in every room. Breakfast was served in the enclosed upstairs dining area which included loose leaf tea served in a different beautiful teapot each day , freshly squeezed juices and beautiful honey made from the beehives kept in the gardens. Richard is a wonderful chef and cooked a delicious hot breakfast using fresh eggs from the chooks kept on their property . He also cooked a wonderful three cheese quiche for dinner served with a crispy fresh salad with ingredients from their vegetable garden and warm home made bread rolls . Then followed by a delectably creamy tiramisu for dessert ! As if that wasn’t enough , we were treated to port or muscat each night served in a crystal decanter and glasses along with chocolates or Christmas cake. The house was kept meticulously clean and and we appreciated the thoughtful extras such bath robes , slippers , handmade local soaps and fresh bath towels which were provided each day . The manicured lawns and garden were a delight to explore as well as the stunning views of the valley.
Richard and Mark were so helpful with suggestions of various wineries to visit and fresh local produce which were only a 15-20 minute drive away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Leconfield House and we will definitely be recommending it to family and friends.
Thank you Richard and Mark for your wonderful warm hospitality which was above and beyond our expectations and sharing your fabulous Victorian home with us. We wish you a very happy New Year and will be sure to visit again in the near future!

We stayed at Leconfield House when we went to see Elton John at Hope Estate. It's the perfect place to base yourself for concerts in the Hunter. Quiet, clean, super-comfy rooms and a massive verandah with sweeping views over the countryside. Mark and Richard are excellent hosts and for an extra fee, they can transfer you to and from concerts, wineries and other venues in the Hunter. Would definitely stay here again.

It's difficult to put into words how wonderful Leconfield House is. This is a only a short drive from the hustle and bustle of the Hunter Valley, but feels a world away. As Richard and Mark describe it....the real Hunter, overlooking the Hunter River and original Dalwood Estate.
Mark and Richard welcomed us like friends and took a real interest in us and what we wanted to achieve from our visit.
They have preserved the history of the house and decorated in keeping with the period. The gardens are delightful, to just stroll around and take in the country air.
On Saturday night, we enjoyed a delicious home cooked 3 course Victorian Dinner (proceeded by drinks in The Palour, of course) matched with local wines, finishing with chocolates and port.
Our ensuited room was beautifully decorated, warm and inviting, and serviced with little touches like handmade soap, bottled water, and port and chocolates when they turned out beds down for the evening.
When we returned from exploring the region on Sunday, we were greeted home and Mark made us tea and coffee and provided us with cutlery etc to set ourselves up with a tasting plate of all our goodies. Nothing was too much.
Leconfield House is the perfect property to relax and enjoy some quiet time, a base to explore the region, and a sanctuary to return to. Richard and Mark are happy to organise tours, transfers to concerts etc, assist you with local knowledge, or leave you completely to your own devices if that is what you prefer.
I recommend this property as a base for your Hunter Valley visit, and we will certainly be returning ourselves.

What a hidden gem!!!
Thank you Richard and Mark for having us in your gorgeous home and making our stay so perfect. We had a fantastic weekend away. From the moment we arrived until we left this morning we were looked after so well, it was like staying with old friends.
Our room was so beautifully put together and such a nice big room with its own well appointed ensuite... we loved every little detail. The bed turned down and a nice decanter of port and chocolates every night was a lovely touch and the bed was super comfortable and cosy, just what you need after a hard long day of wine tasting!!
Breakfast was delicious each morning and so beautifully prepared and presented. Such a great spread of fresh juices and fruit and beautifully prepared eggs from their chooks on the property along with delicious fresh produce. All so well put together and served on the upstairs balcony that has gorgeous views over the valley and surrounding dairy farms.
Thanks again Richard and Mark for your incredible hospitality and for having us. It was great to meet you both.... We will be back!!

We loved staying at Leconfield House! Richard and Mark went above and beyond to ensure our first night away from baby was amazing. They transported us to and from the concert we were going to - and knew the ins and outs of the venue which made everything so much easier. They organised a wine tour for guests where we were able to taste wines not usually accessed by the public due to their connections. The house was beautifully kept, rooms inviting, grounds stunning, breakfast delicious and there were lovely personal touches like a personalised written itinerary on arrival, and a night cap of port and chocolates when we got home from our night out. On top of this, Richard and Mark were friendly, warm, knowledgeable and all round great company. We could not recommend Leconfield House more! We’ll be back.

Hi Nikkie, Thankyou for your kind words. We appreciate your positive feedback in your review and during your stay. Having guests interested in Leconfield House, the gardens, it's history, the antique furniture and curios and the services we offer guests makes our efforts worthwhile. You and Jordan were the perfect guests unfortunately only staying overnight. Even though it was a short stay you took full advantage of some of the services we offer to guests: the transfer services we offer to and from locations in the Hunter Valley - a concert in your case, and a private wine tour to a few of our preferred wineries including the Ivanhoe, Audrey Wilkinson and Ernest Hill wineries. Next time you visit you may be interested in the dining options available to guests such as dinner in our dining room or a candle lit dinner for two on the Grand Veranda overlooking the Hunter Valley, We hope to see you both again soon, thanks Mark and Richard

The house and gardens are beautiful. Our weekend stay was very comfortable with all our needs well catered for. Breakfast on the enclosed grand verandah was fabulous along with pre-dinner and after-dinner drinks in the gorgeous and thoughtfully furnished parlour. Our hosts Richard and Mark were gracious and attentive. A fabulous and memorable weekend.

Had a wonderful experience here.
Stayed two nights with a group of friends and the house is really much nicer than the website shows... set on a gorgeous hill overlooking farmlands with interiors really beautifully furnished with Victorian era pieces and interesting antiques. Very comfortable space with a few hang out spots inside and outside the house to enjoy.
The two hosts were a really lovely presence, providing really personal service without being too intrusive. They're quite perfectionist with how everything is presented. Food and beverages were absolutely delicious and enjoyable. Glassware, tableware and quirky teapots. Really felt like a nice home.
Great location within a few minutes' drive of wineries and pubs. The grounds surrounding the house are really worth a nice walk around with chickens, ducks, gorgeous landscaping and a wonderful produce garden.
