Be prepared for a great experience. We went in blind without much research.
It was a 20min boat ride from the jetty to Jungle Rafts Resort. Upon arrival, we were given our room keys and briefed on meal times, jump into the river activity SOP, house rules etc
No electricity at all, so don’t forget your power bank(s) and headlamps / torchlights. Each room came with a battery operated lamp and candle but it might not be sufficient for some.
Each room has a double bed + single bed complete with mosquito netting, comes with an attached bedroom, has a back balcony as well as a front area complete with lazy chairs and hammock. Weak mobile coverage.
If you really need to charge your devices, a short walk to the “charging tower” is possible. WiFi coverage available at lobby area only.
Quite a number of activities can be done - day trips to nearby attractions, walk to the nearby Mon Village or just laze around.
We purchased a package which comes with breakfast + dinner + 1 complimentary activity per day. Lunch is separate.
Had a great time and would return if had the chance.

Wow what a place. I haven’t been so relaxed since I can’t remember when. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing and beautiful people. There is an interesting story about the people who run and work here. They are the Mon people and their story is inspirational. Easier to Google their story than me taking up this with it. The rooms and the whole place is very clean. Breakfast and dinner are included in the room rate making it a very affordable stay. There are loads of fun activities to do on the famous river Kwai. In the morning an elephant turns up to be fed but the guests. A truly wonderful experience. There is no electricity in the rooms but they have a hut with lots of power points to charge you stuff. There is WiFi so not totally cut off from the world. It’s it’s a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of this crazy world. It’s like stepping back in time a bit really. The sound of the river current under the huts is so soothing. My girlfriend and I will be back for sure. Oh the Mon people speak English, some better than others but easy to communicate.

We had a lot of expectations of the hotel. You arrive and have to sail 15 min by boat to your hotel.
The general feeling I have is: a nice place but a degoutant, unfriendly staff.
We had our backpack with us to spend two nights in this hotel for Trips later.
When entering the boat, which is lower than the pontoon, there was no help loading with our luggage. There is also no system at all whether you have to be on the first part of the hotel or the second part of the hotel.
Arriving at the first part we were welcomed by two gentlemen in traditional dress who were responsible for our luggage. They gave us very warm welcome. At the reception there was a young lady with the necessary arrogance checking us in. The warm welcome, which we were used to in all other hotels, was very far to be found here.
We had to wait a while. We were seated at the table of a fatter gentleman, the boss of this part. He was very unfriendly to all guests, was counting his money in plastic bags and could only snub the staff and customers.
The river was high and had to arrange a taxi. We didn't have a power bank and there was no electricity as we knew. I went to reception and asked if I could just charge my phone to arrange a taxi and sleeping place for the next day. The unfriendly, young receptionist wouldn't help me because it's an "environmentally friendly hotel."
However, her own mobile phone, where she kept checking her facebook, was in a power bank. When I pointed out to her that she did use this for private matters, her reaction was therefore very inappropriate.
The food itself was very tasty. The bedroom was very humid, bed and blankets were very humid and very basic.
The weather was very bad so we could not do any activities on the water.
conclusion: nice experience to do once, but bin there done that.

This hotel is very special, in the middle of the river in the jungle, without electricity and internet, but with oil lamps and battery-powered lamps. With a well-charged power bank you can easily use your smartphone for filming. The food was good, including breakfast, and the beds were wonderfully soft. There was a mosquito net above the beds to prevent mosquitoes. I completely relaxed and experienced this stay as a fairytale. I thought it was great!

It is a different concept of hotel...but unnecessary.
This is an unlit hotel. Even if you have a quinque in the room and another that you agency for the bathroom is an unedifying experience. Having to do your necessities in a bathroom without light, at night, can be an exercise in aiming, making it even more fun to think that tomorrow you will have to shower with the water falling on the bathroom floor and step on what you have not been right.
Since there is no light, you can’t put a bug killer in a river either – and you can’t do any of the things you can do in a regular hotel about your personal hygiene: from putting on contact lenses to repacking your suitcase – because there is no room beyond a shelf... where you have the quinque.
By the way, remember to make sure that the quinqué has enough fuel to spend the night on at a minimum, because if you have to get up in the middle of the night and you have to turn it on you will spend fees.
In short, if you are one of those who would have liked to do the military, but you got away, here is a possibility to spend deprivation and pay for it.

Family stay of three days really exotic and enchanting. It starts with a river access by long tail boat that allows you to admire the wild setting of the place. Once there the magic happens, feeling far from everything and you must forget the classic comfort of the usual hotels. No electricity, oil lamps, thin walls of the rooms do not isolate from outside noise (jungle, but also neighbors). The staff welcome was fantastic, always ready to help with a smile. Swimming in the river is really nice but watch out for the current that is high during rainy periods. In short a stay we will not forget, we recommend but for a short stay, three days was a well adapted format.

During a group trip from Sawadee we spent two nights here. Unfortunately we were unlucky and it rained a lot during our stay. So much so that the river was very wild, and the pier from where the boats transported us to the enclosure was flooded. Partly because of this, the village behind the Jungle Rafts was not accessible and we could not swim. The rooms were very basic and especially pitch black. So bring a good headlamp. The bed and toilet paper was also wet due to the heavy rain. Not pleasant to sleep. We felt quite dirty and clammy and craved a hot shower, but we only had a cold... Nevertheless, we had a very nice time together. The atmosphere, the oil lights and the cheap cocktails made up for a lot. It was a special experience!

Woooow what a lovely place this is....Ideal to unwind. No electricity in the room but atmospheric lighting with oil lamps. And yes there is WiFi only at the reception annex restaurant. Dinner is served on the table with several small dishes . Breakfast is basic but that is part of it here.....Every morning an elephant comes to join us at the table😃😃😃Me and the children really liked it and regret that we had to leave. Highly recommended.

Had one night at the rafts whilst visiting Kanchanburi and loved our stay. We had two double rooms for our family of 4 and found them to be as described. Mosquito nets and reasonably comfortable beds with a little bathroom at the back. Loved the hammocks and seating outside. It was quite dark in the rooms even during the day though but they had everything we needed. It was obviously quite hot at night without aircon/fans but we knew that was part of the experience.
The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed watching the Mon dance in the evening as well as exploring the Mon village and meeting their elephant, Mondi (?), who joined us all at breakfast time. Lovely feeding him the left over fruits.
The evening meal was tasty and lovely to sit right by the river. However, during breakfast, we were absolutely plagued by wasps who were literally everywhere. It was very unpleasant and in the end, we just grabbed some breads and went back to our room as it was impossible to eat with so many wasps. Not sure if this was a one off or a regular occurrence so be prepared!
However, all in all, a fabulous stay and we loved the remoteness and the stars at night. The journey by boat each way was also super exciting so definitely recommend here for a slightly different experience.

Dear PNWer,
We are glad you ask about this.
We install septic tanks under the raft. You can imagine something like over-the-water hotels in Maldives. It works the same way. We worked one of the Thailand's top manufacturer of septic tanks. They helped us designed the tank that can fit under the rafts. Our 2 floating hotels, River Kwai Jungle Rafts and The FloatHouse River Kwai are the only hotel with such septic tank installed as per our knowledge.
Thank you for asking and wish to welcome you to our floating resort in the near future.
Regards,
River Kwai Jungle Rafts
