Detailed Reviews
Unique, bespoke, eclectic much like The Porter House over the road but better! Close to Central and World Square, short walk to Darling Harbour, reception is the bar which is quirky and fun checking in at peak times, staff are extremely polite and welcoming, drinks at the bar are a must, breakfast/dinner is in the bar area, the lifts are quick, hallways are narrow but beautifully decorated, better than a Sofitel, book the biggest room possible as you get a lounge area in addition to bed area, beds are like sleeping on a cloud, it's not a great view but I observed parts of Sydney I'd never seen before, no in room mini bar (you can order in) but plenty of tea, coffee maker etc., the bathroom has Soigne shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand cream which are devine plus a hair straighter and a massive showerhead. The only negative is the "$100 bond" which is debited to your credit card on check-in, I was not expecting a "$100 bond" I knew nothing about that, as I've said before, if I can afford to stay there, why insult me and make me pay a bond, the five star Sofitel doesn't and yes it takes allegedly "3-5 days" to disappear from your credit card and checking-out : your invoice isn't itemised which was a bit strange.

I found the Hotel Morris Sydney Handwritten Collection when looking for a hotel to stay in for a trip to Sydney.
The hotel was based in the heart of the city in Pitt Street in walking distance to both China Town/ World Square and also the city centre.
It is also really close to public transport to get to wherever you need to go within Sydney.
When finding the hotel I was a little confused initially as the entrance is also the entrance to the downstairs bar and restaurant.
The staff were very helpful and got me to walk in via a side entrance so I could also bring my bags in.
The hotel is adorable and really beautifully appointed. I loved the decor and warm feeling it had. When going up to the room I was expecting to walk into a much bigger room but I will admit the room was small.
Though being it was small it was decorated to create more space than I have ever had in this size room before. Both myself and my husband never felt squashed in, even with both our suitcases. The room was very comfortable, the bed felt nice and the bathroom and shower were again small but really well designed. We didn't have a great view but who's staying in Sydney to sit in your room looking out the window right?
The bar/restaurant downstairs was such a great addition with a gorgeous little continental breakfast which was added to our room each morning to start our day. The bar throughout the day and night definitely added a vibe to the place.
The staff were really welcoming and wonderful, they really went out of their way to ensure you had all you needed and were being looked after.
The hotel itself is somewhere I would definitely visit again as it was exactly what you need and at a good price. The location was definitely a really good bonus. The staff are definitely a great asset.

I have to thank the hotel for the flexibility of allowing me to check in early morning, instead of a 5 hr wait for normal check-in time. In so doing I lost my 2 stage special room upgrade though. My experience therefore relates to, I guess, to be their smallest room.
Firstly, I found the entrance hard to find as there is no signage under the verandah, ( but a huge sign can be seen from the other side of the road hanging down the facade.) One then enters via some steps, and then it mistakenly looks like a cafe, with a long bar on the right side. But half way down is the check in computer, that I guess also serves as a register for dining room /cafe operation.
Following a friendly check in I was allocated room 301 facing the street. I had some initial concern for possible street noise, but found it generally acceptable.
The room and bathroom decor was very nice, with the bed firm but comfortable. There is no wardrobe but a wall device with 2 coat hangers. Luggage has to be placed on the floor, which was somewhat difficult to open out with my medium size case, due to limited space around the bed. ( I can't imagine how a couple with two large suitcases could manage.)
Even though I stayed 2 nights the tea/coffee provided was not replenished, and the milk pods were located in the inoperable fridge ( I reported this on check out ).
Notwithstanding, I found the room quite comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful, the hotel very convenient for access from either Central Station ( 15 min walk ) and just over a block walk to the Chinatown Tram stop in George Street.

Pretty average, nothing to write home about and overpriced for what’s on offer.
Room is tiny, view of a brick wall, bathroom walls are thin, cleaners forgot to empty the fridge from previous guests,
Location in the city is dirty (mind you, Sydney is dirty anyway) and blink and you’d miss the entrance! It’s a little inconspicuous but it’s pretty downstairs.
Bed was comfy, pillows never are but we slept well and appreciated the 11am checkout.
Parking is a block away (not far, really) and they validate a ticket for a discounted rate. We didn’t do our homework and found a cheaper carpark slightly closer.

A new hotel in the Accor group. Previously a backpacker hotel, it has been transformed into boutique hotel opening 4 weeks prior to my stay. Located in central Sydney close to Central station and in easy reach to Sydney's attractions. No foyer, so checking in at the main bar / cafe is a little different. Very small rooms, but was upgraded to a Dante room which allowed extra space. Would suggest booking Dante (24 sq metre) or Grande (28 sq metre) rooms unless you're comfortable staying in compact accommodation. Friendly staff and great service, especially made welcome by duty manager Evangeline who went out of her way to make my visit memorable.

I’m a (fussy) Accor Diamond member and usually stay at the Sofitel in Sydney but this popped up and because it was close to Central station and I needed to use the train on this visit I thought I’d give it a try.
I’m so glad I booked this hotel, from the minute I walked in the door I knew I loved it. The staff are all so warm and engaging. The restaurant is sleek and very sexy.
I was upgraded to a stunning room. I was prepared for a small room (I was only there for a night) but my room was massive. Based on the quality of the refurbishment I’d say even a small room would be awesome and I’d be happy (think London size and you’ll get the idea)
I don’t usually eat breakfast but their simple spread looked so awesome I had to try it. And it was yummy.
I didn’t eat dinner but came through the restaurant and saw the diners and the food. The people are clearly the cool Sydney set and the food on their tables looked amazing. I’ll eat there next time for sure.
I loved this place so much I’ll absolutely stay here again. It’s very cool and would not be out of place down a lane way in Melbourne or in London or NY.

Good hotel in a strategic area close to Circular Quay tram and also buses to Bondi Beach. Great breakfast x 30 Au$ if I book it the day before. Clean rooms, the only flaw is the acoustics you can hear the noises of the neighboring rooms. Excellent value for money

Yes, the main entrance is easy to miss. However, once inside, staff make you feel welcome immediately. Reception is at the bar just inside the door. We were attended to straight away. I had a room request that was arranged very professionally by Evie.
Rooms at The Morris are smaller than other hotels... however, the style and amenities are terrific. High quality fittings and linen are luxe.
What's cool... is that you can use a QR code to order all sorts of additional amenities (extra towels, toothbrushes, tea bags, mending kits etc etc) at no charge. These arrived within 5 minutes of requesting! Room service used the same slick procedure.
The cafe/bar/restaurant space has a smooth, easy vibe. Staff tell me that many guests spend the day there. So I took their advice :) Our thanks and commendation in particular, to Evie and Lara for enhancing our time there.
For a hotel under the umbrella of a massive brand, staff at The Morris Hotel have created an enticing space that's very addictive...
You can be confident of a comfortable and pleasant stay.

We knew we would enjoy our stay even before we arrived. Why? The attention to detail and fantastic hospitality.
I received a lovely email a few days before our stay with info on how to find the hotel, where to park, asking what we were in town for.
We were warmly greeted on arrival with a gorgeous decor and smiling staff offering complimentary homemade pomegranate tea, it was very cold outside !
I had mentioned in my booking that if the reviews were true and it was noisy near the lift then a piccolo room away would be appreciated. It wasn’t commented on when checking in and we laughed when we got to our room and it was directly opposite- we could touch our door and press the lift button at the same time! We didn’t have a problem at all during our two night stay.
The rooms we knew were tight- think London or New York, but very comfortable. I LOVED the opening windows for fresh air.
Bar / Restaurant staff in the evening were fantastic, as was the food. Breakfast was very slow but the coffee was great.
We will definitely stay and dine again!

I didn’t know what to expect after reading the other reviews. I checked in on a Friday afternoon and felt like I was walking onto a movie set. It was somewhat busy with a cross section of people having afternoon drinks and I checked in at the bar with the “bartender” who gave me my room key. The elevators are just beside some booths at the back of the bar.
I had a king room which seemed small but efficiently laid out. I suspect the smaller rooms would seem very small.
The bed was VERY comfortable.
The location of the hotel is excellent — just steps from Central Station.
Would definitely stay here again (and I recommend having lunch or dinner or drinks downstairs…friendly and fun staff! ) Louis was particularly welcoming to me and my friends who ended up having drinks on the Friday night. He is a real asset to the property.
