Stayed here for 2 nights recently and would definitely recommend. Staff are really friendly and helped us print our boarding passes for our return flights. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms nice and modern. Breakfast is a buffet with something for all tastes. It is well located within Riga, within walking distance of most of the main attractions. The quirky decor...

This hotel is making better and better impression every time I visit it. After intenssive travelling for work, Scandics, Radissons, Novotels etc have been seen and these small 'butique' kind of places are more pleasant to stay. The building itself is an old one but has been reconstructed with good taste. The rooms are spacious enough and clean. Location is...

Spent three nights here with my husband and 2 grown-up children. We arrived earlier than expected (3 hours before official check-in time) and went to the hotel hoping to leave luggage before exploring the city. The reception staff spoke excellent English and advised us that our room was already ready and could have the keys. Being able to freshen up...

Just spent 3 nights here with my husband. A lovely welcome from young lady on reception, who was so helpful, showing us where the various places we wanted to visit were on a local map. Our room was large, as was ensuite shower room, very clean and comfortable. There was a free safe in the wardrobe, essential for money, passports...

we have stayed one night, but did not have a problem to check-in very early (our flight has arrived at 7am) and even were allowed to have a breakfast the same day. the food was wonderful and with lot of choices. the rooms are clean and charming. despite the booming night life, this part of Old Town was quiet.

Such a fantastic, central location. The staff are very helpful and provide an efficient service. Breakfast was a good selection of local and more internationally recognised items. Our room was very clean and well serviced. Definitely recommend.

Great location, small clean rooms, super stiff beds and large bathrooms. Staff came across as tired, but nevertheless still helpful. Breakfast variety is good with many different choices. Light sleepers be warned, bring earplugs! Noise from the street below is guaranteed to keep you awake. Will probably try Radison next time.

Good = location, breakfast quality (and excellent replenishment), bed and linen, spacious bathroom, room decor. Cheerful staff. Generally quiet but.... Not so good = being kept awake half the night with the noises made by a drunkard next door - tried ringing reception but no answer so had to get dressed to go down to desk. The hotel's all-night bar...

This is a lovely old building and a great location however I felt that it had an unfriendly feel to it. The reception was a bit soulless in fairness, they weren't at all 'jolly' or even happy to see you. We asked for extra pillows as there is only one each on the bed, this wasn't a problem and they...

Very unfriendly and rude staff at reception. Upon entering the hotel we were told to get out, even before asking anything. Please read all reviews of this hotel before booking. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Hotel management should hire more professional staff.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Four-star boutique Hotel Justus is located in the very of the old town of Riga, literally a few steps away from the famous Dome cathedral, within the architectural area protected by UNESCO as a part of world heritage. The immaculate renovation of the historical building was completed by April 2009, and so today the authentic facade conceals 45 cosy rooms uniquely designed to embrace the charm of genuine brickwork combined with fascinating art objects, antique as well as contemporary. Personalised service matched with attractive pricing policy makes Hotel Justus of great interest for a wide range of guests. The hotel’s site possesses high historical value, since it was part of the plot of land selected by Bishop Albert as the location for his Baltic residence back in 1210. However, the medieval wooden housing was destroyed by the fire in the 17th century, so the architectural ensemble comprising Jauniela Street today dates back to the 18th century. The facade of the hotel itself underwent the last major alteration in 1874. The building hosted a tavern in the early 19th century that was later replaced by typography and lithography services, in the 20th century it was occupied by artisan workshops, pharmaceutical laboratories, and then a cinema gallery and offices. Charms of architecture and historical atmosphere made this place a favourite shooting spot of Soviet movie-makers. Now the hotel belongs to a small group of friends that has spotted an empty run-down building and revived it with artistic energy.Idea of making restaurant Aleks comes from the simple desire to enjoy Riga of the beginning of the previous century. Interior is made from the household items of those times, which gives the restaurant unique look. ... more   less
