Visited with my daughter for the Christmas market ... this hotel was a stones throw from the market and town hall square and in fact couldn’t have been more central . Perfect location !! The quirky hotel is unique in style and just oozes Estonian charm ... room was off an outdoor courtyard which in the summer months I bet is lovely ... it was huge !! Well equipped with mini bar tv coffee machine hairdryer WiFi Elemis products in the bathroom .. robes and slippers . Room was lovely and warm after cold days wandering the town . Room was very clean and bed comfortable . Staff were super friendly and effecient and helpful ... Jonathon the general manager gave us so many great tips for things to see not mentioned in the guide book which were great and made our visit . Small shop in the foyer with great local gifts . Lovely bar for a night cap or a hot toddy after a cold day out ... and breakfast is served down in the beautiful cellar with great choice . Loved our 2 night stay wish our trip has been longer ... highly recommend and will definitely return …
We loved our stay in the Merchant House, we are seasoned travellers and this ticked alot of our boxes, the rooms were quirky, ours was off a lovely inner courtyard. Perfect size and spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. The hotel is centrally located just off the old town square. There was plenty on offer at the breakfast buffet. It was myself and my friend travelled for the Christmas markets, they weren't sure in the hotel if we were a same sex couple or not and had prepared two rooms, one double, one twin. That was incredibly sweet, I left my boyfriend at home, after seeing my pics he wants to come to Tallinn so when we are back we will be staying here in an lgbt friendly hotel that has everything going for it.
If you sre looking for a centrallly located hotel in Tallinn Old town, with comprehensive amenities, with not so high prices, Merchants House is the place. The House itself has a interesting history, and it is in the very Center of historical, Medieval Tallinn. The building is very old, and it is not suitable for physically challenged people with its many stairs and levels. This was our second visit in same hotel. Hotel amenities includes restaurant, bar, sauna, shop, 24/7 reception, to mention few. Rooms are all a bit different, and they include shower or a tub and a minibar. Breakfast includes in the price, and it is very encompassing with selection of eggs, omelettes, sausage selection, bacon, toast, fruits, porridge, juices and tea or coffee, also sparkling wine includes. Generically the service is polite and professional, only some of the personnel in the reception could be more polite, but this was only a tiny anomaly in standard. Anyhow, we do recommend this beatyful, stylish hotel. …
We stayed four nights in this very warm and cosy hotel which is located a stone’s throw from the old town square in Tallinn. We were never cold once and there was even an extra heater in case of arctic conditions! We were allocated a large and comfortable room and there was always plenty of hot water. They have ample sockets for your electrical equipment and plenty of lights. Breakfast is served in the magnificent and impressive cellar of the ancient hotel and is really good and healthy. There are plenty of cooked options, we tried them all and they were all good and generous portions. We could not believe the quality and amount of bacon provided. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant is not open for dinner but there are many wonderful restaurants within easy walking distance. Thoroughly recommend this hotel whether visiting Tallinn for business or pleasure.…
Arrived in Tallinn on a damp cloudy Thursday to the warmest of welcomes from the lovely Estonian people. We stayed just off the main square where the Christmas markets were being set up. The Merchants House Hotel was absolutely perfect. Johnathan the hotel manager very kindly upgraded us to a suite which to our surprise had its own little sauna. Perfect for warming up after a long day walking and sightseeing. A great breakfast provided at this hotel and a lovely gift shop selling quirky stuff which made a change from the general souvenirs. Tallinn is the perfect city break to experience the spirit of Christmas and if you need a great location you cannot go wrong with the Merchant House Hotel. Lots of medieval history with beautiful architecture and hip places to visit. Loved every minute of our trip and thank you to Jonathan who shared his knowledge of what to do and see. Book this hotel you won’t be disappointed. …
