Booked pre covid, rearrange twice before we finally made it. The hotel is lovely, in keeping with tradition but with a clean modern feel. We had a standard double which is reasonably sized, due to location there is no actual windows but look out into an internal walkway/courtyard which gives plenty of light. The bed is very comfy and hotel very quiet we were next to the lift & didn’t hear a sound. Decent bathroom with a very nice shower unfortunately the hairdryer is the typical hotel on the bathroom wall variety so not the best. Breakfast is good, choice of eggs and a cold buffet, would lack variety if staying more than a couple of days. Currently there’s lots of work going on in Budapest so the Chain Bridge is closed making it a long walk to Buda castle not a problem for us as the weather was good for early Oct. The staff were very helpful, giving recommendations of where to eat etc… Would not hesitate to recommend or return.

We arrived early and they kept our bags for us, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and upgraded us to the suite which was a lovely gesture. Our room backed onto a central courtyard/ reception area, initially strange having no external windows from our room but didn’t affect our break. My only concern was the shower left a large amount of water going into the bathroom and having recently had shoulder surgery and just coming out of a sling I found this slightly worrying from a personal aspect of falling, however the underfloor hearing dried this up. Breakfast was lovely and a nice start to the day. The smell as you walk in will always stay with me and when I smell it again will transport me back to this hotel. The location was brilliant, 1 min walk to the trams, 2 min to the Basilica, sadly the chain bridge was closed when we visited. Should I return I think this will be top of my list. Thank you for a great stay.

The hotel is centrally located and its an easy walk to most sites to see. The Chain bridge is closed for repairs so its a bit of a hike to Buda Castle. The hotel is newly renovated in keeping with the old architecture. Front desk was very helpful. Breakfast was better than average. General lack of mask use in all of Budapest was concerning given the low level of vaccination but no one looked at us strangely in the hotel for masking up.
