The Astoria Hotel was quite nice. The staff was excellent, and the hotel clean and convenient to tours and shopping. About a 10 minute walk to modern bridge. Several nice restaurants within 10 minute walks. Would definitely stay here again. The value is excellent, compared to the fancier 5 star hotels.

Very good location, a superb dining room and thoroughly good, professional service throughout. Some rooms could do with a bit of updating but that's only subjective criticism. Nice to know that tradition still lives on at the Astoria. Highly recommended.

Clean and friendly hotel. Good value and ideally situated, close to public transport. Had a lovely city break, would recommend a visit to both the hotel and the city . Just like any big city the atmosphere was a little dusty. A lot of construction taking shape when we visited. Beautiful old buildings a lot to behold.

Had 4 nights stay in April to celebrate my husbands 60th Birthday. Hotel is excellently located for both sides of the river. Staff were friendly and efficient with excellent choice for breakfast. Had a superior room which was fine but would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Very pleasant and professional reception. Quite old fashioned in service - in a good way. Reception and lobby staff very helpful ordering taxis and letting me know they had arrived. Restaurant good as was breakfast. Comfortable rooms though I changed my huge room on first night to a smaller room due to traffic noise / sirens. Bothered me but might...

We had a delightful stay at Danubias Hotel Astoria. The hotel has an old world charm and felt inviting as soon as we entered. The staff at all levels were friendly and extremely helpful. Our room on the fourth floor was large, clean and well appointed. Situated on a busy intersection in the centre of Pest the noise was a...

Stayed here after a 14 day river cruise. Staff friendly spoke good English, had room ready early, large room, beautiful decor. Very close to Budapest city able to walk every where around the town. Can be very noisy with traffic and pillows uncomfortable, but overall great stay.

The Hotel Astoria, located on Muzeum Korut, opened to the public in 1914 and it quickly became the capital's most celebrated and luxurious hotel. Centrally located, it was an ideal meeting place for upper class locals, who stopped at the hotel's restaurant or coffee house to chat with friends or business associates. The beautiful late 19th century architecture, reminiscent of...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
