My husband and I just checked out of Hotel Corinthia Budapest. It is an extremely elegant place, tastefully decorated, and with impeccable service. Our room, a superior double room, was clean, quiet, and the beds were very comfortable. It was well appointed with lots of pillows, bathrobes, slippers and nice toiletries. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. One...

It's our second stay at Budapest. We even thought about different hotel this time but finally chose Corinthia again, because the last time our stay was generally good, especially we loved the building and its extraordinary architecture. This time we made a reservation by some external service, and choosing the ROOM TYPE we simply chose the biggest one the price...

Having now stayed at the Corinthia on four occasions, I am confident in writing this up as a great hotel. It is certainly the best in which we have stayed and we have not been disappointed in any aspect. It is, without question, worth booking an "executive" room as this gives access to the Executive Club, bringing with it access...

I stayed here in October 2013 and while I can't fault the staff or the restaurants, I was disappointed by the room and surrounding corridors which were looking very tired and in need of refurbishing. In places loose wall covering had been stapled back onto the wall and judging by the rust on the staples it had been done some...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
