As many reviewers have noted, the Corinthia is an amazing hotel with amazing service and amenities. From the slippers/bathrobe and spa, to the epic minibar and jaw dropping breakfast (included), everything during my stay was perfect. The bed was so comfortable and I much appreciated having windows that fully opened onto the quiet side of the hotel (the back is...

Been staying at this hotel a few times and they never let me down. Staff is English speaking and very helpful and serviceminded. Check in and out is a smooth transaction. Rooms are big and beds are perfect. Bathroom is large and equipped with both shower and bathtub. Breakfast is optional but I recommend you try it - it's great....

Never visited Budapest before so unsure of what to expect, this hotel was fabulous, sumptuously good food and a lovely room with double balcony. Staff were helpful and courteous at all times and the place was immaculate. Would definitely return. Paul

Overall, the Corinthia was a very good hotel and I was fortunate enough to have a lovely room with a balcony on a high floor over the boulevard so the view was great and it was not too noisy. Overall the staff was wonderful, and one of the best parts of my stay was the incredible concierge Tamas. Tamas was...

Being big fans of this chain we booked The Corinthia. We sensed it wasn't gonna be the same as the luxurious Corinthia we stayed at in London as soon as we entered the building. Have to mention that we booked DELUX DOUBLE ROOM! 1)The walls are dirty and carpets are stained, furniture is scratched. 2) Bed is one of the...

In my (somewhat limited) experience, some so called 'luxury' hotels are anything but in the way that they treat their guests, the Corinthia Budapest is a real exception to this. From the first moment of arrival through to departure, everything went brilliantly. The staff were hugely helpful (without being patronising), the room was stunning and the breakfast was perfect. This...

Stayed only 2 nights. Good location on the edge of central Pest. Impressive facade and tasteful decor. Guest book in the lobby open at a page signed by Josephine Baker about 90 years ago! Comfortable, spacious room with tea and coffee facilities. Excellent breakfast.

Had the pleasure of a stay in this hotel, which was good, but could have been better if the air conditioning in our suite could have been turned down. The weather was unusually warm for March, around 22 degrees, but the room couldn't be cooled as the air conditioning appeared to be centrally controlled, and was very stuffy all night....

There is very little not to like about this place: nice public areas, good rooms – especially if you avoid the ones looking into the courtyard so you don't really get any fresh air – excellent restaurants and bar and a very good breakfast. The spa is pretty good too, with saunas, steam room and a decent-sized swimming pool. What...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
