We stayed at the Corinthia in Budapest and generally I do not like large hotel, but this is the exception. The rom is really nicely decorated and the housekeeping is excellent. The rom layout could be revised as the bathroom is small and the dressing room could be smaller to allow for a larger bathroom. The service here is fantastic...

Our room was spectacular in terms of space and amenities. However despite a visit from maintenance, we could not warm our room sufficiently. The staff could not have been more accommodating or helpful. Everyone greeted us with a smile. Monitor at the breakfast buffet was most engaging. The breakfast was overwhelmingly sumptuous. Tables were laden with every imaginable offering. The...

Stayed here for 4 nights over New Year and as well as visiting the spa multiple times we booked the NYE Ball. The whole stay was very enjoyable and the hotel has a good central location. The Spa facility is the real hero and we would have visited more if we had time, both my wife and I returned fully...

This is a beautiful hotel but I gave them one star because there a lot of amazing hotels in Budapest and at this level the only thing that really makes a difference is the staff. The level of service you receive can make your stay or make you wish you were staying somewhere else. Maybe I am expecting too much...

We chose the Corinthia based on reviews and price at the time of booking. We knew it was further from the river but there were other things in the area of interest to us. The lobby was beautiful and the staff very friendly. There are restaurants and bars on premise which is convenient. Our favorite amenity was the spa. Despite...

As part of our honeymoon tour of Europe we stayed at the Corinthia in Budapest. When we arrived we were whisked away to the executive level for some complimentary champagne. They also left us with wine and champagne in our room on a daily basis! Other highlights include: - the location: close, but not too close, to the action! -...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
