Was amazed by this hotels beauty and warm friendly welcome. Its in a great location to reach all the must see tourist attractions in Budapest and the spa was luxurious with natural thermal water. Their was a historical tour of the hotel every Tuesday at 9.30 which is worth doing as you learn a little about Budapest as well as...

Just back from a 3 day trip to this City. Stayed at the gorgeous Corinthia, via Secret Escapes, so was upgraded to the Executive room, which allows an Executive lounge access with complimentary drinks, snacks etc., at any time of day - a wonderful touch. Our room was large, spacious, and had everything we needed. Huge bathroom with separate shower,...

I chose the well located Corinthia Hotel, Budapest, based upon TA reviews and because I knew another very good hotel in the Corinthia group. The staff at Reception were welcoming and efficient on arrival but no porter was asked to take my luggage and I was left to find my own way to my room. This 'Superior' room was on...

Lovely hotel with superb facilities, rooms are very well equipped with the most comfortable beds ever!! Only gripe was a loud knocking noise that appeared to take place every morning around 7am. Beautifully decorated public areas, spa could do with many more beds for lounging and hooks for towels/robes - was very busy on Saturday evening when we visited. Staff...

Had a wonderful stay although outside the main attractions until the weekend then...Hotel bar full of drunken Welsh people singing (mewling like downed cats) and screaming. Might have well gone to Cardiff. Hotel staff nonplussed. Complained. Nothing. Went local bar where it's 3rd price and civilised.

Great classic style hotel. No faults with the room or bathroom. Good value, although breakfast is very expensive if not included in the room rate. Not the most friendly people in the spa but that is nit-picking.

Positive aspects first - the cost of the room itself was very reasonable, the hotel is fantastic, room sizes are great, comfy beds and decent bathrooms. The spa is also nice and well appointed and all the staff are very polite and helpful. Location is also good. The major off put for me to come back is the price for...

Perfect hotel, perfect service, much more than what I expected! Nice rooms, exceptional executive services, bar, space... only the brasserie I found it a bit disappointed comparing with the level of the hotel.

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
