This was our second stay at the Hotel Gellert and it remains one of our favorite hotels! The attention to detail, friendliness of staff, delicious breakfast, location, and old-school service values make this a delight for us. Plus one cannot overlook the Gellert Spa access benefits to staying at the hotel as well. We will definitely be returning to the...

A pleasant stay and everything worked but the hotel could do with some upgrading and refurbishment. The stained glass windows are wonderful. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety. The Spa, which i know is managed separately, could also do with some refurbishment.

Yhe hotell is old and could use som upgrading. But it is facinating to see all the original details and the greatness of the building that has not been damaged. It has a fantastic location, in the city centre. The food and service is excellent. Fantastic termal bath. The personell working in the termal bath could have been a bit...

Good location with convenient accesses to all major sightseeing spots, friendly and hospitable staff and beautiful room interiors. Hot spring experience was something very special. Only one concern is the old bathroom facilities; the toilet does not completely flush away the stuff and water through the drain of the bath tub easily flooded over the bathroom floor. However, I'm happy...

First of all i would like to thanks the man who wellcomed in the checking the quality of attendance. He makes the diference. The booked rooms were of poor quality, the toilet dirty and the tank was broken. Add to this the window of my room was a "resting area" of doves and birds giving as a result a noisy...

It would have been fantastic to see the hotel when it was new (probably wouldn't have afforded a stay). The facilities are very impressing, however a bit worn. With a renovation this could be a luxury hotel again. The public areas are ok, but the rooms would need renovation as soon as possible. Staff was polite and breakfast super! Metro...

Staff very helpful and friendly. Help with the lagguage, welcome their guests. Breakfast selection was great, comfortable beds. However there need the serious maintenace, it is very old inside, have problems with drainage, have also spotted the insects in the bathroom and in the room, even though it was a free spa entry available, we decided to change the hotels,...

Located on the river side, this hotel has the charmest location in the city. The Art Nouveau bulding and the thermal baths transport you to the cultural efflorescence of Budapest at begining of the 20th century.

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
