This hotel is opposite from Budapest's main railway station, Keleti. As a result, there are a lot of tramps/drunks around but they generally keep themselves to themselves. The hotel is quite strange - with most rooms, it would appear, looking out into an internal court yard. Rooms themselves are nothing special and fairly basic. Beds were never made and towels...

The hotel is a charming apartment building with a central courtyard. It is 2 minutes from the Keleti train station, which was very convenient, but not much else of interest is nearby. Our tour guide said the area was one of the more dangerous areas of Budapest but we had no problems when we walked around at 1am. The rooms...

We stayed in this hotel with our 4 year old son. It was simply the best hotel we stayed during our european tour. The staff was helpful. The rooms were big and airy with a very nice interior and furniture. Very seldom you see everything in such a harmony. The air conditioning system was also very good. The beds were big...

I stayed there two years ago and it was reasonable. However, I am passing through Budapest in two weeks time and, owing to proximity to main railway station, I have tried to make another booking. Unfortunately, they have failed to respond to my 3 emails... They are obviously fully booked but I think that their lack of communication betrays a...

We travel from Vienna to Budapest via EuroTrain. The hotel is located right in front on Keleti station which is the last stop of the train from Vien Westmanhof. We just walk out of the station and within 100 meter we reach the hotel. To our fascination - the outlook of the hotel does not imply it is a good...

Great little hotel, we did wonder where on Earth we had booked when the taxi driver left us outside the "apartment building", but all became clear when we entered the hall... Rooms a little cramped, weird high ceiling in the bathroom, but all in all, really good value for money!. We got a double bed by mistake (we actually wanted...

Nice little hotel in what seemed to be a private apartment block but sometimes a little offputting having to walk past smoking individuals just outside the doorway! Also, a little noisy in the evenings & early mornings - walls a bit thin... Good breakfast; very helpful staff; clean room... we asked for a non-smoking one but it clearly had been...

Stayed for 3 nights and had a large lounge and bedroom and ensuite. Basic accomodation but clean. Overall though, perfectly adequate and at a rate of £35 a night including breakfast, great value for money. Staff at reception exceptionally helpful and arranged all trips etc including airport transfers. All in all, very good value for money for the budget traveller...

Room Summary:Quaint 18th century art nouveau building - the hotel is on the top 3 floors. My room was clean and comfortable, however, there were several stains on the rugs that need to be cleaned. Bathroom was clean, but missing wash cloths. Lobby is small, but pleasant. The "thin walls" effect that other reviewers have commented on is valid -...

We stayed at the Baross Hotel for a short week Oct 28 to Nov 2, 2006. The hotel environment is to say the least not inspiring ..., Our room was on the street side, therefore extremely noisy with a lot of traffic passing by, the curtains are extremely thin and let pass all the light from the early morning, but...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
