A strange layout but once you figure it out it's grand. Location is brilliant and i found the staff very helpful and reasonably friendly. Rooms are fairly small and basic but do the job, and the power shower is fantastic. One negative is lack of a bar/lounge area but there are scores of bars and cafes etc within walking distance.

Basic, clean rooms, basically centric hotel. Staff is helpfull, could be more, but not the worst. Amazing views, if you are lucky and Get a room facing the Danube. Breakfast basic, restaurant serves tipical hungarian plates, and live music.

If someone wish to experience, how it was to be a tourist before 1989 (I was), Mátyás is the right place. I have experience with several three star hotels in Budapest (Universities mostly don't allow higher class) but this was really the top. OK, the hotel notes on the website that you may register after three o'clock in the afternoon...

Dear Wilken E, Thank you for taking the time to share your review of your stay on Tripadvisor. In 2016 we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the hotel opening, it started to operate in 1996 as a pension and due to extension currently has 3* hotel classification. The 3pm check in and 11am check out times are commonly used in...

Well positioned. Near Danube River and main pedestrian mall full of shops and restaurants. Room was clean and well serviced. However it was all downhill from there. Converted Apartment buildings very run down and not well maintained. Don't know what you are going to get when you have to interact with reception. Depends on who is on duty and their...

Lovely clean basic room. Service at Reception was really efficient, and helpful. Really well placed for all sights, and places to eat and drink. Will definitely consider staying here again. Great place for a walk up gellert hill, amazing view!

This Hotel has friendly and helpfully staff. Good size of the room. Good beds and clean! If you have some problem with walking and carrying your luggage, it is not a Hotel for you. Lot of coffeshops, winebars and restaurangs around. Just 100m to Vaci Uta. Perfect near to a stop for the Hop On buses.

Really, it is worst hotel I ever stayed in Budapest. In details: you will have little, dark and boring room with very dated and very cheap interior. It likes you've back to Soviet Budapest in early 80's. Obviously it is not a room where you will like relax or spend an evening. You will try to dodge this room, but...

Dear ViktorNovakSK, Thank you sharing your experiences and photos about our hotel. We regret that you were not completely satisfied with our services. The hotel rooms were created in a historical building and this feature gives our uniqueness among most of the hotels in Budapest. Concerning the broken night lamp, we kindly ask our guests to inform the front desk...

Really pleased with this hotel! We stayed here for 5 nights. First impressions were good, Friendly chap behind reception, basic but clean rooms. We went exploring and came across loads of decent bars and restaurants on the doorstep :-) We spend 2 days at Sziget festival, which was about 15 min in a taxi, so if that was our sole...

The rooms in this hotel were average, but the location is great and the price was attractive. Close to many sights and attractions as well as restaurants. It was all we needed for a 3 day stay in Budapest.

The best thing to say about this hotel is that it is ideally located in the city centre, but so are many other far superior hotels. The CHM has an awkward unattractive entrance with stone stairs to one building containing the reception area. The rooms, in a separate annex building, are again up further stairs and the alone up/down corridors...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
