hotel was rather empty due to covid so it was not the "old" experiance and in a way looked a bit wierd and empty. We got a junior Suite upgrade on the 5 Floor corned with perfect view of chain Bridge and danube. Mini bar is empyt same as the nespresso so you have to order that. The lounge is not open but you can use the resturant on the ground floor.Room was big, WiFi worked, you get a small kit with a mask, wipe and desinfectant in the room and there are lots of dinfectants by Lifts on each room. The breakfast is to order only was not bad even if it took quite some time but we felt OK and as there were not mny guests we had enough distance from the rest. We had a nice drink in the outside are in the evening but must say the City is rather empty as wlell, actualy never saw Budapest so empty

One of the best hotel I stay in my life. I arrived Budapest on Wed night by train from munich, then I was ripped off by City taxi by charging me 3 times than standard price. When I checked in, I was a bit annoyed when the receptionist wanted to charge me an additional of 45 euro to have my 1st night room upgrade so that I could stay in the same room for the next few days (I had two bookings for the stays, first night room supposed to be superior, then then following 3 nights with deluxe room with denure River View, most of the sofitel hotel I stayed normally allowed me to have free upgrade if there was room available). Thanks with his patient and compromising of my unfriendly attitude (due to the ripped off by taxi and long journey from munic), he explained the hotel policy refused to give me free upgrade. Therefore I was allowed to check my initial standard superior room first and I decided to pay for the upgrade to deluxe room so that i don't have to move room the next day. Somemore he gave me the deluxe room with the whole view of the river. My unpleasant feeling about budapest immediately gone. This receptionist was really helpful and provided me lot of information so that I won't be ripped off again as tourist.
On the 3rd day I decided to go for breakfast as I was told it is included in my booking. Somehow the system in the restaurant could not find it. Therefore the staff asked me to go to reception and pay for breakfast (cheaper if I pay at the counter rather than the restaurant). I told the duty manager about it. He checked through his system and confirmed that my booking doesn't come with breakfast. However he knew his staff make a mistake, he offered me a complimentary breakfast instead. The breakfast cafe has huge selection of food, including Asian food as well which surprised me.
Other than the above incident, I would like to highlight the overall services from the breakfast cafe and restaurant are very attentive and excellent. I have never regret to stay in this hotel with the strategic location.

The Sofitel in Budapest has an excellent location and when you get a room with view over the chain bridge, it is worth it. The architecture with the tremendous open space is impressive. I have been now twice, service has been very good. Staff is really nice. The only reason why I don’t give 5 stars is that the rooms need renovation. During my last trip I used the restaurant several times!and I considered it top quality. A had for example a Cesar‘s salad which was excellent and had nothing to do with the typical Cesar‘s salas you get in Hotels as the only health option on the room menu...And again , service was excellent.

Rooms: average room as they are not very new but everything is available: complimentary water, coffee and tea. Amnesties are also available. Many towels and bathrobe are also available. The room is clean.
Breakfast is great and staff serving at the breakfast area are amazing and extremely helpful.
Reception staff are also very professional. I called them complaining one night as a group of people in the room next to me were very noisy around midnight, in less than one minute someone came to them and asked them to lower their voices.
They provided me with 2 hours late check out.
Meeting rooms are extremely nice, coffee breaks are rich and staff always ready to help. Coffee breaks and lunch were always on time ready. Food is also great. Desserts are tasty: passion mousse is a must.
Location is great: 5 min from the Danube, amazing nearby restaurant, 7 min walking distance from a shopping street, a pharmacy is also available next to the hotel, souvenir shops are also available next to the hotel.

We really enjoyed our time at Sofitel Hotel.
The staff was attentive and responded super quickly to any issue we had, including upgrading our room when they realized they gave us a twin-bed room instead of a double bed one.
The breakfast was varied and tasty, making it hard not to start the day stuffed.
The Sauna and the gym were great, but we didn't enjoy the pool as much as it was too cold for our taste.
The location is superb, and we didn't have to use public transportation at all (Great for those of you who intend to spend more time in Pest than in Buda, but getting to Buda is also rather easy because of the close proximity to the chain bridge).
Overall, I highly recommend Sofitel Hotel.

My wife and I have just returned from the Sofitel, Budapest at chain Bridge. The Hotel is excellently located and we received a lovely warm welcome on arrival. The Hotel is clean and modern and we couldn’t have asked for more pleasant and friendly staff. The room was excellent and the little extras such as pastries which were put in the room made us feel very welcome. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was good as was the service, breakfast provides lots of choice and the staff were very attentive.
We asked about a traditional Hungarian restaurant which was recommended and booked for us .

All in all a lovely break and a Hotel I would highly recommend.

We travelled for a short 3 night City break just before Christmas 2019, staying at the Sofitel.

Firstly, we loved the location close to Chain Bridge and an easy walk over to Buda and the Buda Castle.

We were also very impressed with the breakfast, which had a huge variety of hot and cold dishes, fresh juices and smoothies - certainly set us up for the day.

The concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable giving advice on places to visit and booking a Danube cruise for us. They also revised branded umbrellas to use when it rained heavily.

I used the swimming pool and sauna each morning before breakfast. The pool was just the right temperature, although some of the tiling was broken and it was probably ready for an upgrade.

The room was spacious and we had a side view of the river. It was old worldly in style and I would say is getting ready for some refurbishment. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. The complimentary toiletries were excellent.

All in all, a good stay and I would stay again if I ever find myself again in Budapest.

We loved this hotel! The location was in a beautiful setting by the Chain Bridge on the Danube River with views of the Palace. It was convenient for the metro & tram or walking to sites. The Christmas market was nearby. Our room was on the 8th floor with a view of the city. Very spacious & comfortable. There is an extensive pillow menu. The breakfast buffet had amazing choices including Indian & Asian food. Very delicious.

Emmy from guest relations made us feel very welcomed & went above & beyond with her assistance in making our stay very memorable.

Highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel looks like 1980s Soviet style block building. But the inside is spectacularly remodeled and modern. What a nice surprise! We were on the sixth floor overlooking the Chain Bridge and we couldn't stop looking out the window. This hotel is on a great location. So easy to catch a tram or walk where you want, The hotel restaurant has a nice patio overlooking the busy traffic of the city and the Danube river. We just loved everything about the Sofitel.

My husband and I stayed at the Sofitel in Budapest for four nights. Our room had a wonderful view looking across the Danube towards the Castle as well as of the Chain Bridge. The hotel's position is perfect for visiting the city's sights and is close to many parts of Budapest's renowned public transport system. All the staff at the hotel were professional and polite but we found those at breakfast to be particularly friendly, especially as they seemed to appreciate our attempts to speak some basic Magyar! Breakfast was included in our booking; there was an excellent choice of hot and cold foods catering for many different nationalities' tastes. Four days wasn't any where near enough time to really do Budapest justice so we intend to return one day; when we do we have every intention of staying at the Sofitel again. Köszönöm szépen!

Actually there is quite a lot on the Hill if you look around and not all expensive. It is only a short walk down to the river anyway and the Hilton is a much better hotel. We found the Sofitel had nice staff but it was seriously neglected and undermanaged. Given how dirty our room was I would not want to stay there during the Covid outbreak.

Thanks for your question. If you go to the corner and look carefully you should be able to cross to the promenade side of the street. If you need some assistance, the hotel may be able to help, just be careful. My wife and I crossed many time and you just have to be careful and patient.

We found the breakfast adequate but not good. The breakfast area is on a mezzanine corridor area and the tables are close together and loud. The service is just about adequate. We had to queue for a table. The time varies but on one morning there were 20 people queuing. It is self service and cluttered, crowded and stresful. Far and away the worst breakfast experience I have had in a large chain hotel. Definitely worth going out for breakfast.
