Booked as close to office but a great location in the protected castle district of Buda. Very peaceful area with only locals cars allowed it seems. Hotel is sympathetically built alongside castle with one of the old cloisters incorporated. Results in great views across the Danube in restaurant if get window seat for breakfast. Rooms big, beds comfy, service very...

This hotel is pretty big, but obviously it's best times have passed: The interiour is maybe from the 70ies, but everything is very clean and the rooms are very spacious and the staff is nice. The food is so-so. The hotel is located on the hill at the Buda side of Budapest, not ideal I find as more happens on...

This hotel is in the Castle District. Great views of the Parliament building, bridges and rest of the city. The hotel has great breakfast and even a wine tasting cellar. Next to St. Matthews and lots of interesting sites you can walk to.

Quite incredible location, you really wouldn't want to book the gloomy Intercontinental and then climb the hill and see the Hilton on the hill bathed in sunlight and within the UNESCO heritage area. But the location isn't the only good point, the rooms are updated, the service is good, the food nice and there is the added bonus of an...

This hotel was superb...customer service impeccable. Franke, a Bellman was the friendliest, kindest young man. He took our bags up to our room, offered sightseeing ideas and called for another luggage rack. He is truly a great asset to your company!

I booked Hilton Budapest as part of a Christmas present for my partner. We had never visited Budapest or Hungary before, and even the drive from the airport made it enchanting. Getting a taxi from the rank outside is so simple and costs 8500 Forint (roughly 28 Euro/£25). The journey crosses you over the Danube and Castle Hill stands in...

We stayed at this hotel in February of this year. The hotel is in a beautiful location with fantastic views of the Danube and parliament which are all lit in the evening. The hotel is set in a historic part of town and 15 mins from centre. The staff are the best I've ever encountered in all my stays. They...

We paid around £500 for 3 nights and a return flight from LHR with BA, so pretty reasonably priced considering. We were given a refurbished room overlooking the cloisters, you can pay €40 extra for a view of the river, this may have been worth it as view is spectacular. The room was smart, and comfortable. There was one issue...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
