We had a terrific 2 night stay at the Hilton Budapest at the end of November. The location of the hotel is unbeatable - on the historic Buda side of the city adjacent to Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church, and within easy walking distance to Buda Castle. The Pest side of the city is easily reached by bus 16 which...

Fantastic hotel, the views from the restaurant are breathtaking. When we go to Budapest we always stay here and with the recent upgrades to the hotel it has just got better and better. Although it's in the old side of the river there is still plenty to do and is very easy to get to the other side via bus,...

The hotel was reasonably priced and better than imagined, in every way. All staff members were helpful and congenial, making us feel like we were at home. The Executive Lounge was temporarily moved to the basement, while the hotel underwent renovations. That didn't keep us from enjoying the excellent food or beverages. The waiter, Akos Bàunt, took care of our...

As a Diamond Hilton member I stay at a lot of Hilton properites throughout the year which can really make you appreciate the little things a hotel does to set itself apart. I appreciated that the email I received from the hotel a few days before hand had recommendations of places to eat a short walk from the property. I...

To this date the best European hotel I have ever stayed at. The hotel location on the Buda side of the Hungarian captial is simply marvellous. Built into the ruins of a midieval castle, right next to the St. Michael's Church, with a spectacular view over the Danube, the location alone is world-class. Ad to that a first-class service and...

Haven't been since the rooms got refurbed, they are now up to a very high standard, and the view just can be paired. Make sure to get a Danube room. The exec lounge is nice as well with local Hungarian food (pogacsa, kolbasz, etc) besides the conventional lounge fingerfood. The staff at the lounge actually serves you drinks and food...

This is a great hotel, nearing the end of refurbishment. Had a great room with an amazing view over the castle hill down to the Danube. Staff were very helpful and always very informative about anything we asked.

Trip booked over new year period. Weather cold but very bright and sunny most of the time. Plenty of fireworks as the new year approaches. Everyone in good spirits. Really good city break for walking around and admiring lovely buildings. Loads of good restaurants.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
