We have just returned from three nights stay at this hotel, the previous review by sanderr51 is exactly our experience of this hotel, read their review and that's the Carlton Budapest. No point repeating their comments. Tripadviser at its best.

We booked this hotel as a package through Airmiles and chose it because the location looked good and the comments were good on Tripadvisor. We were glad that we did. Very clean and comfortable, the rooms are a bit small and basic but no worse that other short stay rooms in other cities in Europe. Breakfast was very good although...

We loved this hotel. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The beds are great! The rooms do have air con, but we were able to sleep with the windows open and not be disturbed by noise. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The location is good too, at the bottom of the hill of the Castle district...

We stayed for 3 nights and found it to be a lovely hotel; central but quiet location serving excellent buffet breakfast. We had a non-smoking twin room on the 7th floor which was clean and comfortable. Very close to the Chain Bridge on the Buda side of the town. Probably not suitable for those with mobility problems as up some...

This hotel is in a great location: just at the foot of Buda within 100 metres of the Chainlink Bridge. It is quiet at night but Buda Castle is a funicular ride away or a challenging climb! The hotel is quiet with a good breakfast and limited but very good facilities. No swimming pool or leisure facilities but walking around...

The hotel is ideally located - between the Chain Bridge and Fisherman's Bastion. Rooms are clean, quite large. Breakfast is good too. This is per room per night, three, we paid 190 euros. I believe that for such a beautiful location and good service is very inexpensive. Highly recommended. Five meters from the hotel comfortable and affordable Belgian beer, all...

We traveled three countries, BudApest, being our third, Even though the other two hotels were nicer, this hotel was in a great location, right over the Szechani Bridge on the buda side, near the castle district, and the funicular. We would only be staying for 2 nights. Our room was small, bathroom was tiny, especially the shower, I had no...

Suggested to me by a friend, The Carlton in Budapest is in the heart of the city though you are not paying mega bucks to overlook the Danube River. The hotel is classy with a great lobby,a nice plush bar, the staff was extremely helpful though communication in English was quite a problem. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the...

Friendly hotel situated near to the Chain Bridge, hop on hop off bus stop and castle, ideal for sight seeing. Good selection at breakfast. On Buda side of city, short walk over bridge to Pest. Good value for money. Please be aware the Budapest card offer is a travel card and NOT the Budapest Card. It was still useful.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
