I visited the bar of this hostel with some friends whilst walking through Budapest one evening and seeing the advertisement for beer at 400 Forint outside. Thinking the price to be about average for the area, we decided to go in and give it a try. The lights are dimmed, with an eerie green glow eminating from around the walls....

Went in Summer 2013. Really enjoyed our stay. We were in a group of 4, shared a room with 4 others and it was good fun. All went out on the Saturday night together so lots of socialising to do. Location is good, pretty central. At the top of an apartment complex about 4th floor so quiet enough from street...

I chose this place as it was walking distance from the keleti railway station, and it's not very far from the landmarks of Buda and Pest. (A neat 20-30 min walk both ways.) The building was a little too dilapidated, and once I got into the elevator, it was even more worrying. But the hostel was well done up. It's...

Stayed for 3 nights in June 2013 with a group of 4 friends. Were happy with the Hostel and the staff during our stay. Rooms were clean and we felt safe, showers and toilets were good etc. Hostel was on the small side, only about 25 beds and while a bit more atmosphere would have been good I'm glad it...

I wouldn't recommend anyone to book this hostel. During the Sizget festival our friends arrived having booked 2 beds a month previously, they were then told that they had double booked the beds and they would have to go somewhere else. I also experienced a rash from bed bugs in the sheets. The hostel also needs more showers and toilets...

The BlackSheep Hostel in Budapest was a surprise. You are welcomed by nice Hostel employee that guide you through the hostel and explain everything. The rooms are big enough and clean. There are a lot of bathrooms an toilets so you, basically, wont have to wait to be able to take a shower. You can cook your own food in...

The communal atmosphere that has been created there is amazing, Dori initially booked me in and she was amazing and really friendly, just what I needed on very little sleep from the night before in Warsaw. Then throughout the rest of my stay Zoli was awesome, was feeling the worse for wear on the Monday so just chilled out and...

Spent 3 days in this hostel and it was awesome. The beds were confortable, clean, also the kitchen and the toilets/showers. However, they take so long to clean the showers/toilets. They provided me towel and hairdrier. The staff was pretty much helpful and attentive during my staying in there, and one of them, made a city tour with the group...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
