The score of 5 is based on it being a very good budget hotel, with a very good price, but if marked against all hotels I would give it a 4.
The hotel is modern and generally very clean, (It was good to see one of the staff making sure the cutlery was clean with no water marks before putting it in the cutlery trays for breakfast).
The staff were helpful and friendly, which doesn't seem to be the case with most restaurants / bars in Budapest, where the customer appears to be treated as if they are an inconvenience. They also seem to work very hard at keeping the breakfast area clean, so despite it being busy there always seemed to be available clean tables. Breakfast was also very good for a budget hotel, with a plentiful choice of hot and cold food, drinks, yogurts, fruit and cakes. Something for everyone's taste, which was a bit of a surprise given the price of the hotel room.
The room was basic, but generally very clean, the only exception was beneath the bed which I discovered after dropping something and it rolling into the dust under the bed.
The bed was firm but comfortable. The rooms were surprisingly warm considering the outside temperature, but it had opening windows which was good (No air-con).
The shower was good, but the enclosure seemed to be designed to ensured that some water leaked into the bathroom floor.
The location, although not as central as I would normally choose was good, being a short walk, through a (not very welcoming) underpass to the tram lines. Line 2 taking you right to the centre alongside the river on the pest side, which in itself gives good views of the Buda side on the opposite side of the river.
I would definitely stay here again if looking for a budget hotel.

Our stay at the Mercure Hotel was very nice. The staff was courteous and spoke English very clearly which made checking in a breeze. Our room was very clean and comfortable. A small coffee bar and water cooker was provided as was a robe and slippers. Bathroom was a bit tight but still very functional and clean. The only issue was our shower door didn’t seal correctly and spilled a lot water onto the floor. I reported it to the front desk and it was repaired that day. Breakfast was well stocked with hot eggs bacon and sausages, cold cuts and cheeses, fresh vegetables and fruit and lots of different breads. They ever have a mini pancake maker. The dining room staff are constantly working to clear used dishes off of tables and keeping the dining room in tip top condition. The parking area was a bit difficult to find due to construction but ended up being very safe and large enough to accommodate our small SUV. The hotel is located on a busy pedestrian street with a ton of stores and restaurants close by. The area is touristy but safe and we were less than 5 minutes from the river bank. We will definitely choose this place again should we travel back to Budapest.

I stayed @ B&B Hotel Budapest City in the end of September 2023 for 2 days and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Upon reaching the hotel, I found it to be very clean and modern.
The room was nice and well-lit (although they offer only an open cupboard). The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent. Unfortunately, they do not offer any complimentary water bottles or electric kettles in the room. I was informed that in Hungary it is illegal for hotels to provide electric kettles in rooms and that I can ask for boiling water at the cafe on the ground floor at anytime.
The breakfast options for vegetarians are limited. The hotel has a vending machine in the lobby so you won't go hungry at any time.
The hotel also has a luggage room. The hotel staff was kind and friendly. I had a smooth check-in/check-out experience.
Would love to return some day.

The hotel it’s located in a perfect spot, near the very well run public transportation. The room was “nice” but not having to much storage areas, we had 3 people in the room with 2 beds and some of clothes had to be left on top of the luggages. Here they should place some shelves once that no wardrobe is available. Buffet wise needs much improvement, repetitive food and by that I mean ALWAYS the same food. Bacon, beans, sausage and scrumble eggs from the cartoon, when ask if possible to make fried eggs the answer was immediate, not even checked with “supervisor”, right away No. The buffet needs more supervision, dirty spoons holder( plate where you place the spoon/tong to serve your food), it could be replaced as required. In a time that Virus it’s on the news every day, they could have in place a plan to replace the serving tongs and ladles in regular bases. The tables and chairs should be sanitized between costumers as well the frequent touched surfaces( elevator buttons, door knobs, coffee and juice machine buttons. Wait staff seem to be too much relax and without any supervision, instead of leaning on the counter chatting amongst them, they could use that time to maintain the cleanliness. But, staff when were asked something were always polite just need to smile more. Smile it’s free and makes customers feeling better. Christmas Eve there was no food and by food I mean the only available on the menu, PIZZA!

Paid for a family room (double) but ended up transferring to single room on the 1st floor because the A/C wasn’t working in our originally booked room (same situation with another family we were traveling with). They compensate us with free breakfast for this inconvenience (breakfast not worth it). We also didn’t get a fridge on the second room they gave us. The shower floods with water when you shower. The pillows are horrible.
The breakfast was very poor in selection and bad quality. Same goes for the dinner we ordered once.
The location of the hotel isn’t great but public transport is very close to the hotel.
The rooftop bar and bar close at 22:00 which is sad.
The hotel cleanliness of the communal areas is poor. Ashtrays full of cigarettes on the outer tables from 2 days before and tables/chairs dirty among others.
The only thing positive is that the staff was very friendly and helpful, and especially the guy with the tattoos at the reception.

I spent at this hotel almost 10 nughts during the 2022. Hotel is modern, relative clean, and with budget hotel standards but in moder style and hightech - no roomkeys, modern tv with high internetspeed and a lot of connections. At the bigging 2022 I bought hotel membership, its paid fir 1 year where you have promised 10% lover prices amd saving points, e.g. 1 free night for 10 nights. Lets say that program is total terrible, fake and a lotnof complication, every stay I had to claim missing points, doesnt exist any customer care, every hotel is independent. The best price is, you will have the same price as without program only with one change....non refunable rate will be changed to cancelable with the same price. So entering to program is lostvof money for you. Breakfast I had during all stays only 1 time andnit was poor si decided no more order a breakfast here only pure room. Staff level during 2022 fall totally down, with no interest to client, lets tell that better hostel approach. I decided ti pay few eurs more and return fully to next to hotel from competitors chain. Bottomline, if you need only roomband the price is cool so book it, if you wait some added value please be real this is budget hotel and yes sometimes with strange prices over 100eur per night. For quality accomodation 4 stars from 5 in budget segment, customer care 1 star, breakfast up to 2 stars, cleaning 3 stars value for money 3 stars.

The hotel was clean and reception staff helpful. On day 1, even though leaving used towels in shower tray liked asked they were not replaced. On day 2 having returned to room at 11pm the room had not been touched! No cleaning, bed making or clean towels. Used towels still lying where I left them. I had to go to reception to get clean towels and toilet paper!

Change the pillows with firmer ones and make sure that the floor doesn't have dust on it before the guests arrive. The food and the beds were good. The placement of the hotel is very good. Besides this you could give an extra towel for face and hands.

We had been one more before at this hotel so we already knew what to expect. We only stayed here for a night this time. The hotel checks a lot of requests on our list, it has family rooms separated by doors, two bathrooms, good breakfast and a quiet area. The staff is very helpful and kind. The location is good, you have the possibility to park next to the hotel at a public parking and next to public transportation. It takes only few minutes to get to the center of the city. The internet is fast and all the rooms are equipped with smart-tv which is a big plus. The beds are comfortable. I gave 4 stars this time because the cleanliness was not so great. It was dust under the beds and the bathrooms were not properly cleaned. Overall we had a pleasant staying and I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel was a perfect A+ ✨ It was in a good location not very close to the Center but many means of transport was only few meters in front of the hotel, such as buses, trams, taxis etc. Very clean, really nice style, delicious staff and also kind and helpful staff.
