This is by far the best hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff felt like long lost friends, and everyone hangs out together. I felt welcome within minutes of arriving. It was also impeccably clean; especially the bathrooms! Nicest hostel showers I have ever seen. There is a nice kitchen and area to hang out with other hostel guests,...

The staff at Big Fish is wonderful, very knowledgeable and helpful on what to do and see in Budapest. Hostel has a great location and is close to all of the sights you want to see. Only downfall was that they had two locations. At the time I didn't know about this. As my buddies had checked into the main...

This place really made our trip in Budapest. The staff and volunteers are unbelievably friendly and helpful. The common room is cosy and central, with free tea and small kitchen for communal use, as well as a projector + computer for music streaming and movie nights. The whole setup is very informal and welcoming and it feels like home. A...

Or taking you to the most fun bars and clubs. Washing and drying, 4 bathrooms, clean beds, common room with tv and internet and plenty...

Perfect atmosphere of what a hostel should be. Front desk people were very kind to our group. Bedroom and bathroom were both clean and tidy. The place have very good internet connection and is very well located, close to several bars and restaurants, ATMs and Exchange houses.

Big Fish Hostel is definitely the best hostel I've stayed in. There are two dormitories, where each person is given a locker to put his stuff in, and some private rooms. The environment is warm and clean, the personnel is nice as well as really helpful. In the kitchen there are computers and books that you can use for free,...

We arrived at the main Big Fish hostel and paid for our stay and were then escorted to their second location which is aout 3 minutes away. Two of us stayed in a double private room and one in a dorm and all of us were satisfied with our 5 night stay. The location is perfect, located in an area...

For a fishy person that travels on his own, it's a casual, good quality at reasonable prices in a good spot. Oysters were excellent, it was a farm Seabass, side dishes may need some spark, but were correct. Sitting outside on the street with this ambient temperature and enjoying some fish it has been really a pleasure.

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

“I'd stay in one of the eight bed dorms since they aren't cramped at all, and you will save a bit of cash. The best shower is down the hallway opposite the kitchen. It is larger with more room to maneuver which is helpful if you're over six feet tall like me.”

“I would absolutely recommend this hostel. We've arrive by bike a budapest with bikes and took a double room that was really big (we did'nt know that). Big enough to put our two bikes inside and the two boxes to pack them back to our country, and the staff offered the option to do that. Even though if you doesn't take private room, there is safe place to lock the bikes inside the building without any problem. We have lock them there finally. Regards”
