You'll never find a place like this anywhere else! It's an old school boarding house so it's a bit rough around the edges - however for the price you get everything you need including recently refurbished showers! (1st class). Yes the wifi is poor BUT this is the 21st century and every other building in budapest has free wifi. Beds...

Although it's relatively cheap, this hostel is still terrible value for money. It's in a good location, but this does not make up for the awful rooms. We were sent up a ladder to sleep on mattresses on the floor with no light and where we couldn't stand up. The wifi is terrible and the building itself is derelict. The...

Probably the only hostel I would never go back to. Reception staff are lovely and bathrooms have been refurbished but the remainder of the building is derelict (we were sent up a ladder to a wooden table and two mattresses on the floor...). No real communal area so quite unsociable, I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you have no other...

I stayed at Maria Hostel for 2 nights with other 2 friends. The mattress was on the floor and the room was really hot. No air con,no a fan! If I'll go back to Hungary I won't go there. You can easily find something else in a nicer area!

We had booked into Maria hostel after cancelling a reservation a little further out of the city to be more central basing our judgement on Maria hostel on only the photos on Booking.com. We also took into consideration the rating score of something like 6/10 which we thought meant that it would be a no thrills place. This was not...

We literally didn't find anything good about this hostel. Location wasn't great, about 25 minute walk from the main square, not on a very nice street either. When you go into the hostel the entrance hall is very shabby, there is no proper reception desk, just a woman sitting behind a desk with a rack with keys on it. She...

It was cheap, we had 1 day left in Budapest so we gave it a shot. The place clearly used to be a brothel and that gave it a lot of character. The room was kinda cool, with a balcony out to the huge courtyard, but the furniture was insanely old and cramped. The place is very run-down but we...

This was truly back to basics but we loved it. My friend thought of it as a 'treehouse' and we both loved our stay. Thought it was slightly odd only having one key for the door but you soon get used to it. Average kitchen facilities and friendly staff. The shower and toilet could have been cleaner and is in...
