We stayed at the Gerloczy for 3 nights in the beginning of April and found it to be a delightful experience! The building is charming (the winding staircase is especially interesting), and we loved the high-ceiling and large windows in our room. The cafe/restaurant on the ground floor served delicious food; it was delightful to sit outside and have breakfast...

I stayed at Gerlóczy for the second time last week. It's great value with comfy traditional style rooms, delicious cooking and service that is as elegant as it is friendly. All in all a hotel that clearly takes great pride in maintaining its well deserved reputation.

We'd almost forgotten about this place until a friend asked for a recommendation. We stayed just one night at the Gerloczy. The rooms were elegant and well-appointed, a modern shower with nice toiletries. It was also nice to have a good cafe just below, since we had to have an early dinner. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were...

A lovely hotel that is very well located. So many hotels are boring and lack character. Not the Gerloczy, the rooms are different and much nicer than anything else at this price. Having the cafe below is an added bonus.

Gerloczy hotel is a stylish building with beautiful rooms, full of character. High ceilings, parquet flooring, floor to ceiling window and the bathroom was so elegant! Overall, a Parisian, art nouveau vibe. We were lucky enough to book a room with a balcony overlooking the square. Perfect on which to enjoy a pre going out glass of wine. (Hungarian white...

We reserved 3 rooms for 6 people, and we all enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The entrance to the hotel is tucked away off to the side of the restaurant that is in the front of the building. There is a lovely staff that mostly works the restaurant, but also got us all checked into our rooms. There is...

We were a party of 3 English couples who spent 3 nights here this week. We all loved the whole experience. Beautiful comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff, great food and perfect location. Would recommend wholeheartedly. Thank you from us all to the Gerloczy staff for a wonderful stay.

Small, elegant hotel with plenty of period features. Rooms have high ceilings and large windows and are very cosy. There's a small restaurant which is also used for serving breakfast. Within easy walking distance of the centre of Pest and the metro station to get over to Buda. No tea/coffee making facilities but you do get complimentary drinks and snacks...

The location of the hotel is perfect but the staff lets it down. The service is very unprofessional. The waiters of the hotel were sometimes rude. There is no consistency in the information given: you agree with one staff member in something and the next day someone says the opposite of it. The breakfast is ridiculously overpriced.

This elegantly renovated old hotel is in the central district of Pest, but on a small street that is awkward to get to by car, so it is quiet and one can sleep very well. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. An excellent restaurant in the building serves breakfast. The staff is very helpful. When we had to...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
