We regret not reading a review first before entering The Black Star Restaurant in Prague. What seems to be a nice cosy restaurant is an absolut disaster. Walking through wonderful Prague we saw this restaurant. First impression was great, a nice, warm and cosy restaurant. Outside there was a menu and prices were okay. Not really cheap but not too... Had a lovely dinner here in the restaurant. Classy interior with a West European rather than Central European feel to it. Excellent menu with plenty of choice of both Czech and international dishes. Good wine list and very good service. Romantic and a good venue for a special meal.

AVOID! Although the decor is pleasant the food was poor and the bill was inflated with a so called room tax. We were charged £6 for the bread on the table. The drinks were 3 x the price of the local public pubs. The owner sat with his lap top and never spoke. I was very angry with the bill... More

The restaurant is tucked away in a side street between Charles Bridge and the old Square. It looks inviting from the outside, and has a classier setting than most you'll find in Prague, especially around the Old Square. There aren't many tables, so you need to book. The restaurant is long and thin with a room at the end, which... More

It was very nice week. Weather was not too warm, to feel uncomfortable without aircon. It wasn't needed at all. The appartment was very big, nice and clean. I was very impressed. Wi-fi was not so strong - had to go catch the signal in the hall. I liked the position of the hotel. Cosy street very close to the... More

This restaurant looks cultural and classy from the outside, which was what encouraged us to sample the food here despite the menu being somewhat pricey. My first thought upon being served my meal was, perhaps this is a restaurant for ants because the portion size is ridiculously small. I ordered ravioli and although it tasted good, it didn't taste good... More

Really enjoyed our stay at The Black Star. We had suite number 5 accessed via a nearby doorway and through the mediaeval-style metal gates - a delightful 2-level apartment with kitchenette and small terrace. Breakfast was fine - ideal way to start the day as we ate out for lunch and dinner. Great location too, close to the Charles Bridge,... More

Whilst visiting Prague for a long weekend we came across "The Black Star" restaurant and thought it represented a typical Czech restaurant. Althought it was not on our list of recommended restaurants we decided to go there for dinner that evening. It was a bad choice and represented everything bad about Prague that you read. The bill for for of... More

II stayed at this property with friends over New Year's Eve. Its a small, apartment like complex with little to zero amenities. However, the location is great, right smack in the center. The rooms are clean (although a bit bare and lackluster in design). Front desk is very helpful. And the pricing is convenient if you prefer to spend your... More

As a party, we stayed in two deluxe rooms, one for 3 (room 6) and one for 2 (room 4). Rooms 4 had a larger lounge area with two settees, overloooking a small side street. The separate inner bedroom was away from any potential noise of the street and we were well rested. The lounge room had an attached kitchen... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
