The location was the best of this hotel. In the main the hotel was perfect. It was very cosy there. It's good for young couples because the atmosphere was very romantic. We also liked the rooms. They were very clean and good-sized. There was a cafe in this hotel that we liked very much. There was a very good home...

My husband and I came here for our first wedding anniversary. We were welcomed and wished a happy anniversary. Our room was beautiful-well worth the value-and in our room a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine had been set out as an anniversary gift. The room was very very comfortable as was the bathroom. The staff was very...

I travel a lot and this is one of the most amazing hotels I've ever stayed at. The staff were warm and attentive, the location in the Mala Strana (the most beautiful, peaceful, romantic area of Prague - yet central) was perfect, the room was comfortable, luxurious and quiet but more than the above, there was a magic about this...

My husband and I stayed at the Alchymist for 4 nights, 5 days from December 28th - January 1st 2010. It was beyond brilliant! We stayed in a deluxe room (the lowest standard room available!) and it was like a palace! Dressing gowns, slippers, ornate furniture, four poster bed, floor to ceiling marble bathroom, free chocolates every night, turn down...

Beautiful hotel, if you are looking for luxury, it reminded me of a castle with the beautiful building and furnitures. The staff were very polite, friendly, smiling and helpful! They make you feel very welcome and make a warm and cosy atmosphere. The amenties from L'Occitane gives the "little extra" in the bathroom; which was beautifully decorated and spacious. (We...

We got the junior suite and it was incredibly beautiful. Chandeliers in both rooms. Huge golden four poster bed. Just pure opulence. Breakfast is amazing, with freshly baked bread and a free a la carte menu in addition to the buffet. The rest of the hotel is also gorgeous. You really do feel like royalty, with free champagne on arrival....

My fiancé and I stayed at the Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa for a three night pre-Christmas trip to Prague for a birthday celebration. We chose the hotel based upon Trip Advisor reviews, and a recommendation. Because of this, we had very high expectations - and we were certainly not disappointed. We've stayed in some great hotels before, but we'd...

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
