What a wonderful hotel. We had such a great stay in the hotel. They had noticed from my passport that it was my birthday when we checked in. Returning from dinner we found a bottle of sparkling wine upstairs - what a nice surprise. We stayed in room 8 (there are only 8 rooms in that little hotel). The room...

Thank you very much for such a positive review. This is really kind of you. :) Regarding the issue with the shower gel, each room is always equipped by 2 pieces of hair and body gel, body lotion, bath salt and soap. The hair and body gel looks very similar to body lotion so it might have caused the confusion....

This is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. So nice we returned for a 2nd stay during our visit to the Czech Republic. The suite was stunning and had lots of space. The hotel is situated right next to Charles bridge so is very central for all you would want to see in Prague. Breakfast was...

This is a truly special hotel. When you first arrive and realize that your hotel entrance is a wooden door sandwiched between a money exchange and a souvenir shop, you kind of wonder. Then you go into a longish hall to reception. You may still be going...huh? Then you go up to your room. The rooms are wonderful. (I can't...

The welcome was very friendly, the room was amazing and the location is incredibly central. Despite the fact, that we stayed from Sat. to Sun. the noise of the party folks was not annoying us in the third floor. Thanks, highly recommended!

We got a very good deal via the Hotel's own website by booking less than 6 weeks in advance. When we arrived, our room was a whole suite, with a separate sitting area, kitchenette, and enormous bathroom, as well as a huge comfortable bed. The only minor issues was that the room was very warm, despite having the thermostat turned...

This is a wonderful place to stay - found by coincidence, we got a very good last minute deal via the hotel's website and stayed for 3 nights in February. It is an ideal location: you could see Charles Bridge from our window, really very close! Very spacious room, very clean, warm, well looked after, and very comfy large bed -...

I found the Hotel by accident. I am glad I did. We stayed at the Domus for 3 nights in February. This is one of the best boutique hotels we have experienced--not only because of the location (Mala Strana), which other people have already mentioned, but, more important, because of the extraordinary atmosphere created by the people working in the...

We stayed at the Domus in mid January for 4 nights and found it to be a great place. The hotel is located in a great spot, sparkling clean, and great staff. The rooms are so nice with high ceilings (not the case for the top floor, though those rooms are cute), lovely windows, well furnished, and competitively priced.

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Design hotel Domus Balthasar is a baroque building with medieval foundation and 21st century design, situated on the Royal Route, in the heart of the oldest and most romantic part of Prague - Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana), few steps from Charles Bridge, close to Old Town and Prague Castle. Domus Balthasar is nearly of all most popular sights within easy reach on foot or by tram. Although is situated in the centre, also in a neighborbood of nicest parks. Business centers easily accessible. It is the ideal place for a holiday as well as for an enjoyable business trip. The building's history goes back to the 14th century, though the fittings are either modern or timeless. We do our best to respect history while at the same time respecting the current needs and tastes of our guests. Our interiors are made warm by wooden, atypical furniture with clean lines in dark colours which combines well with the light, creamy tones of the carpets, curtains and other decorations. Hotel has 8 rooms including 2 Double attic rooms, 3 generously spacious deluxe double rooms, 2 Suites with kitchenette and 1 Royal. Please notice our historic house uniquely located within an UNESCO listed World Heritage Site does not have an elevator. Due to a lower ceiling Attic double rooms are not recommended for people taller than 1,80 m/6 feet. ... more   less
