We honeymooned for two weeks beginning in Budapest, then Vienna, then Chateau Mcely outside of Prague, and finally at the Iron Gate in Old Town. Our suite was huge, roomy, and very clean with really high ceilings. You can't beat the location. I had no idea we were staying only a few hundred feet from heart of the city. So...

We found this hotel on the internet and arranged the booking directly by e-mail. The reservations staff were very helpful and quick in their replies. It got more expensive by the time we travelled, because the agreed price was in euros and the pund collapsed against the euro in the meantime. We booked a Royal suite (all of them are...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Iron Gate. It is such a cute hotel and the rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is wonderful and very friendly, especially George. He was always very helpful in giving us recommendations for restaurants, sights to see while in Prague, and just chatting with us in the morning before we started our...

A sanctuary in the center of bustling Prague with just great people from Petre in the front of house to Francesco in the bar and restaurant. My wife and I are experienced travellers although this was our first self guided trip to Prague. The assistance and advice from the hotel staff was fantastic and the facilities great. The Iron Gate Hotel is located literally one minute's walk from the Astronomical clock in Old Town Square. It is based around a courtyard with the various rooms (I'm told no two are alike) all looking into the courtyard. Our room was unexpectedly large with a sitting area, bed and large mosaic-tiled bathroom. The ceiling with its exposed beams was...

There are so many hotels in Prague and nowadays, most of them become rather generic. The Iron Gate is just special, so beautifully restored and they know how to treat tired, weary guests. The last time I had such welcoming service was at the famed Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Definitely one of my top 10 favourite hotels in the world.

We stayed in the Iron Gate Hotel for three nights for my husbands 30th Birthday - loved the hotel & loved Prague. You cannot get a better location than this hotel - litrally 100 paces to the old town square. Bottle of Champagne in our room as a small token to my Husband from the hotel. Breakfast was good (although...

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
