This hotel is in a great location in the old town and is easy walking distance to all major sights. Reception staff were always friendly and helpful. Our room was definitely on the small side and the double bed was two singles joined together, but it was very clean and well maintained. We had a buffet breakfast includedin the room...

On a recent trip to Prague we had a reservation at the Central Hotel which we had selected after much consideration for its wonderful location. Upon arrival we were told that there were water problems and we would be accomodated at their sister hotel, Hotel Merkur, which was a similar hotel. Knowing that those things happen we, as well as...

As others say, you'll be hard-pressed to do better in terms of location. This place is right in the heart of the downtown area, and on the "nice and quiet side". (I'd never stay anywhere near Wenseslas Square.) Everything is seemingly a 5-10 minute walk from this place. Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, the Jewish Quarter, etc. As for the...

This hotel certainly lived up to it's name as it is perfectly situated in the centre of Prague within 5 minutes walk of the old town square (with the astrological clock - well worth a viewing on the hour) and Wenceslas Square. While Charles Bridge is not far away and Prague Castle is within walking distance. The hotel is located...

We stayed here in May for 3 nights. The location was EXCELLENT! It was about a 5 minute (if not less) walk to the Old Town Square. Also walkable to Wenseslas Square, Charles Bridge, and to the palace. I've been to Prague twice before and this was the best location! There is also an internet cafe down the street. I...

I had to go to Prague (meeting at Charles University, in the very center of the city) and was trying to find a reasonably priced hotel close by. This one was a perfect choice for me, everything I needed or wanted to get to was within a few minutes' walk. I ended up with a nice, spacious room which looked...

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
