Located in the picturesque spa town of Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic, the Grandhotel Pupp is one of Europe's most famous historical hotels. Talking about its history would take a while, because it dates back to 1701. In recent years the Grandhotel Pupp has hosted illustrious names from the movie world including Morgan Freeman, Gregory Peck, Sharon Stone, Robert Redford, John Malkovich, Antonio Banderas, Jude Law, John Travolta and Nikita Michalkov. Such stars have descended on the hotel especially for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival each year at the beginning of July. As well as modern-day celebrities, the hotel has also attracted eminent historical figures from culture and the arts including German poet and philosopher Johann Wolfgang Goethe, composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner and Antonin Dvorak, violinist Nicolo Paganini, writer Franz Kafka and master of Art Nouveau Alfons Mucha.
In two connected buildings, River Side and Park Side, the Grandhotel Pupp complex offers 228 rooms in the categories of Comfort, Superior, Superior Plus, Junior Suite, Premier Suite and Apartment. The ground floor of the hotel features restaurants, a cafe, bars, a boutique zone, a hairdressing salon and casino. Becher's Bar provides entertainment in the evening. The Grandhotel Pupp invites guests to the new Pupp Royal Spa wellness centre with pool and saunas. The complex includes a modern fitness centre as well as a private Royal Spa Suite with whirlpool, massage tables, sauna and a relaxation zone. The Pupp Royal Spa offers an extended range of treatments, from traditional procedures based on the natural bounty of Karlovy Vary and the region to modern massages and beauty treatments.
Grandhotel Pupp - If you want a chance to see a star
The hotels location is good, massage also ok but breakfast fruits were not fresh. The room was nice and comfortable and the drinks in Bechers bar are fenomenal..... ALTHOUGH there is a major thing I hated, aside from the very very rude personnel, on my last day I was having breakfast with my family and when we all leave the table and my husband stays there, this waitress that was already being very cheesy with him, comes and hits on him... I had only gone to the bathroom and when I come back she is completely laying down on our table super close to my husband asking him why he drinks so much coffee and that he should be careful not to have heart problems because HE IS TOO HANDSOME for that!!!! I mean????? Really?????? And she waited for all of us to leave the table to go say it to him???? You should all be careful with your husbands! This is sooooo disrespectful and low! I travel with him for so many countries and we have never experienced anything like that!…
Just spent a night in this majestic hotel ! High ceilings, loads of art, endless corridors. Fabulous ‘old style’ service and astounding food. Loved every single minute of our stay. The spa facilities are spotless, there’s even a hot bath alcove. HEAVEN. The tablecloths as white as the driven snow, spotless cutlery, sparkling glasses, lovely background piano music and the kind & considerate staff…… so lovely to be out in this world again. Thank you, thank you Hotel Pupp.
The hotel is grand and beautiful. However, Our check in experience left us a unforgettable unpleasant experience. Our guide had called ahead many times to let them know we will be a bit early and asked them to allow us to leave our luggage in the cloak room. When we arrived not only they didn’t greet us but let us waited about 40 minutes without telling us what was happening. Consequently we missed our city tour. The attitude of one of the receptionists was very rude. We thought it was totally unacceptable. What a shame. We left a letter to the director, yet, we have not receive any reply from them. I would not recommend this hotel to our friends and family.
We stayed for three nights in this beautiful Grand Hotel. The location was perfect and the suite we ordered was beautiful. But the service was bad. The the hotel personnel was haughty and condescending. They let us know that they only care about guests who stay at the other half of the hotel facing the river. "You should never order a room using booking.com, the reception manager told us. You should have known that your part is mostly for German groups. When we asked for an extra pillow we were told that this service is only provided at the other half of the hotel. We ate at the very very fancy Grand restaurant. Our table was not ready at the time we ordered. And this is not because the restaurant was full. It is because they are short on staff. The meal was actually pretty good, but not any better than other popular Czech restaurants outside. The beautiful hotel casino closed the doors because of the covid-19 and never opened again. The beautiful hotel bar is also closed down during weekdays and opens only for weekends. I am sure that the problems results from the covid-19, and the low occupancy, despite significant price reductions, which leads to bed service and poor reviews. The beautiful swimming pool, in which I was the only swimmer was really beautiful with lots of facilities. My wife enjoyed a very good massage at the hotel spa. All together: a beautiful Grand hotel which is undergoing a tough period …
