My wife and I booked The Red Room for a stay to celebrate our anniversary. The management decided to change our room, then the room we were allocated was freezing cold, no heating on. Their work around was to give us a tiny blow heater. We were given blankets to cover us to keep us warm and my wife had...

Hi Viewers. What a perfect place to go for a meal. 7 of us went there for my wife's birthday and all was perfect. We sat around the fire had a drink and looked over the menu and a great menu too. Nothing was rushed and the food perfect. If you are looking for a great place to eat this...

Checked into a very lovely room. Went to the bar for a drink and barman had made it very clear he does not want to be here on New Year's Eve. Asked if we could have something to eat and were offered crisps or nuts only, not impressed is this really how you get customers back. So far I would...

Lovely old hotel in the middle of a gorgeous historic village 5 miles from Oakham and/or Stamford and within a stones throw of Rutland Water. Fantastic and very friendly service throughout, excellent sized rooms, very tasty breakfast, and a lovely old bar. Plenty of parking, easy to find, very comfortable, and highly recommended. We stayed in Room 1, which was...

A number of us came together to celebrate our sons 21st and we couldn't have chosen a better place. Arranged over the phone and deposit paid, the staff were very friendly and helpful on the phone and throughout our stay. When we had to drastically reduce our planned number for dinner due to a conflicting event, there was no worry,...

The interior of the Fox and Hounds is wonderfully oldy woldy and atmospheric... the candles with the all the dripped wax hanging from them on the bar a sight to see! the library just needed an Agatha Christie body in it! We had a drink in the bar on arrival, the settee/chairs being very comfortable and a relaxing way to...

Went here for an evening meal on a Wednesday. Despite being the only two people in the restaurant it was more than a half hour wait between finishing our starter and the main course arriving. When it did, one on the dishes was as expected if a little overdone, but the other was just a mess, I suspect they had...

A great friendly small hotel, good location not far from Oakham. Very good service in the restaurant, both for lunch and breakfast. Spacious comfy room with a large bathroom. Would like to book again and try the evening menu.

Decor and furniture in room outstanding, one concern was could have done with a rail in bathroom, 3 foot drop from top of stairs landing to bathroom floor, not suitable for elderly people. However the bathroom once you were in it definitely had a wow factor.
