We had the pleasure of dining in the restaurant this week and found both the service and the quality of food to be excellent - the ambience of the hotel was also very pleasing. Our waitress/assistant manager Erin ( if she is not the assistant manager she should ) was extremely attentive and absolutely charming. We were kindly shown the...

Our visit yesterday was superb. The staff were all exceptional including the Manager who welcomed us upon arrival and the extremely friendly and delightful two young ladies who waited on our table. The food was very good and we will be back again soon. Thank you all again for a lovely afternoon.

Just spent the most perfect night at the fox and hounds. We were in room 3 which is very spacious and very well appointed. Lovely large bathroom with a walk in shower and big bath. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed an excellent meal. The food and service were superb. I would recommend the fillet steak. Breakfast was served...

This picture perfect inn is a lovely place to rest and eat with its lovely interior, well presented menu and good quality food at reasonable prices. It's a different story with the rooms however. We paid £165 for the red room which whilst looking swish and done out in a boutique style had a lot of omissions. Firstly on arrival...

The Fox and Hounds was chosen for a family Sunday lunch because of its reputation for food. On the positive side, the location on the green at Exton is lovely. On a damp day it was nice to walk in and be greeted by a roaring open fire, but the atmosphere was very smoky from the logs. There were two...

My wife and I booked The Red Room for a stay to celebrate our anniversary. The management decided to change our room, then the room we were allocated was freezing cold, no heating on. Their work around was to give us a tiny blow heater. We were given blankets to cover us to keep us warm and my wife had...

Hi Viewers. What a perfect place to go for a meal. 7 of us went there for my wife's birthday and all was perfect. We sat around the fire had a drink and looked over the menu and a great menu too. Nothing was rushed and the food perfect. If you are looking for a great place to eat this...

Checked into a very lovely room. Went to the bar for a drink and barman had made it very clear he does not want to be here on New Year's Eve. Asked if we could have something to eat and were offered crisps or nuts only, not impressed is this really how you get customers back. So far I would...

Lovely old hotel in the middle of a gorgeous historic village 5 miles from Oakham and/or Stamford and within a stones throw of Rutland Water. Fantastic and very friendly service throughout, excellent sized rooms, very tasty breakfast, and a lovely old bar. Plenty of parking, easy to find, very comfortable, and highly recommended. We stayed in Room 1, which was...

A number of us came together to celebrate our sons 21st and we couldn't have chosen a better place. Arranged over the phone and deposit paid, the staff were very friendly and helpful on the phone and throughout our stay. When we had to drastically reduce our planned number for dinner due to a conflicting event, there was no worry,...

The Fox and Hounds Hotel is a handsome former 17th Century coaching inn that dominates the Green in the picturesque Rutland village of Exton. The building oozes character, with a number of fireplaces for cosy winter evenings and a pretty garden for lazy summer days. Privately owned, you can be assured of a warm welcome, with every amenity to make your stay a pleasurable one. The entire building has benefited from a major refurbishment and now offers four boutique hotel luxury rooms. All rooms are ensuite, are individually decorated, and come with broadband internet, Netflix, digital free view, complimentary White Company toiletries, Egyptian cotton linen & bathrobes in the bathrooms, and Espresso coffee and tea making machine. There is also free parking. Dining at the Fox and Hounds 2 AA Rosette restaurant is a treat. We have recently been awarded a place in the Good Food Guide, (the Waitrose UK's Best Restaurants book). We offer some exceptional seasonal menus, a weekly Prix Fixe lunch menu, and a number of British Classics. We also offer various weekly specials, such as our Tuesday Steak Night (see our Offers & Events page for details). The bar menu offers a quirky take on the British classics, from share platters to sandwiches. For more formal dining, the restaurant and deck offers Modern European inspired dishes.
