It was our second time staying at the cottages, this time we had stayed in fern cottage for our anniversary. The cottage was beautiful as expected, everything down to the last piece of decor compliments the atmosphere. My favourite thing about the cottage is the open plan living, the beautiful high ceilings and the central log fire place. I absolutely... More

We stayed at the Fern cottage over the Easter weekend. The cottage itself is lovely and of a high standard, everything we needed was provided for. The grounds are truly special, there are several spots to relax outside and enjoy the truly amazing views of the mountains and valley below and at night we lay on the beanbag gazing at... More

We stayed here 2 nights and were happy with all amenities, but as we unfortunately had very hot weather (over 35 degrees), we found the single airconditioner could barely cope to cool down the bedroom(s) sufficiently in Rose cottage. Drinks from the fridge were very well priced, but we didn't have breakfast as with the price were paying, we thought... More

Yes we remember that week well, it was a lot closer to 40 during the days. Being well away from the tar & concrete jungle of the city and at 700m above sea level we do benefit from cooler evenings. The trick is to open all doors & windows overnight to allow the cooler air to flow through the building... More

We just enjoyed a wonderful short break at Wombat Hills Cottages near Mansfield. The cottage was very tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a real bonus and Norm and Helen were very helpful with information about local restaurants and attractions. We will definitely go again. Kate and Rob. Geelong, Victoria.

Fern Cottage was a peaceful haven, perfect for our visit to Mounts Stirling and Buller. We loved the layout and architecture of the cottage - atmospheric, yet practical, and very well equipped. The view of the tree ferns from the bathroom was a delight. We also loved dining outside with a group of a dozen grey kangaroos close by. The... More

From the moment we arrived we were caught up in the charm and beauty of Wombat Hills. The bed was very comfy and the king size pillows.....oh my god! (If they fitted into my bag they would've come home with me). The layout was cozy and homely and the exposed stones throughout helped to create a romantic ambiance. The double... More

Hi Rachael, we are glad that you found Wombat Hills such a relaxing place, as one guest put it "you've got plenty of nothing" , no traffic, no street lights, no noise etc. We appreciate you were so understanding about the bugs, we've never seen anything like it, perhaps there is more of this in store with climate change. Our... More

We had a wonderful weekend at Wombat Hills Cottages. The cottage was everything we hoped for on our weekend escape. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting slow down and just enjoy a leisurely pace. Views are wonderful, wildlife enchanting, open fire creates a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere.

We stayed here over the weekend and a great time, Noel and Helen were very accommodating and the cottage was clean and well kept. After a full day skiing, it was a treat to come back to a warm fire and a comfy couch. The cottages are only 30 minutes from Mt Buller and are a great alternative to paying... More

You were blessed with the best weather and snow conditions of the season so far. The real benefit of staying off mountain at Wombat Hills Cottages is being able to keep an eye on Mt Buller from the warmth of your cottage and going skiing when the weather & snow conditions suit you. There's always plenty of other things to... More

This stone cottage is nothing short of beautiful. We stayed in the Snowgum cottage for one night, simply because we were not ready to end our anniversary weekend and go back to the business of Melbourne. Since our accommodation we were initially at was booked out the day we were due to return home, we searched around for other cottages... More

This was a lovely place to stay. Beautiful setting, very peaceful, lots of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies and parrots. The cottage is warm and cosy and fitted out with everything we needed. Delicious cake to welcome us, and hosts Norm and Helen are friendly and helpful. Would recommend to friends.
