#2 of 26 B&Bs / Inns in Theth
Lovely mountain guesthouse with all modern amenities The Marashi-Guesthouse is a cozy, two stories guesthouse in the dreamlike valley of Theth. If offers all amenities of a modern house, comfortable beds, warm water and internet access (if needed), but has the charme and atmosphere of a mountain house. It's perfectly embedded in a stony and in the meantime very green area, right next to the Theth river. We serve our guest home-style cooking, made of organic vegetables, grown in our own yard. Guest also have the possibility to build their tents in our yard and sleep under the amazing skies, surrounded by the astonishing Albanian Alps, and can listen to the sounds of the flowing river. We promise, that sound is magic! You can reach many interesting hotspots in nearby, like the famous Blue-Eye (Syri i kaltër), the Bathtubs or the Theth Waterfalls. The Guesthouse can also be used as a starting point to many different hiking trips in the area.

This is a lovely place in a great location, and for the most part the family were so lovely, the sister (who we never met) was always on hand via text to reassure us and ensure we had and knew everything we needed. However, although the family were lovely, the daughter was less than welcoming, and although she could speak English and was staff, worked hard not to engage in conversation, or to help clarify anything, this I mostly put down to her age, but she did make it uncomfortable at times. And I know that this was added in consideration and enjoyment of the guests, but there is a beautiful bird caged above the dining area. I know that this is something most of the guesthouses do across Albania to enable the clients to listen to bid song whilst eating. And I have no doubt they have lived out their flightless life well cared for However, I'd prefer to see and hear wild birds outside, than have them trapped for my entertainment. Kathryn x

I stayed at the Marushi guesthouse two nights in July. It has a lovely and tranquil location right next to the river and with views towards the famous church. The guesthouse is very clean, cozy and run by the kindest family, who really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. The food is made fresh at the guesthouse, is traditional and very tasty. On my last day I forgot my phone. The daughter managed to call the driver of the bus I was on to Shkodra and they arranged for another driver to deliver it to my accommodation in Shkodra shortly after I arrived. I am forever grateful. The Albanian honourable hospitality has no end. Shumë faleminderit! Therese

Most of the places to overnight are guesthouses, so no need to wait for all hotel amenities, AC, flat screen TV or things like that. What you get is far more, genuine hospitality by very cordial hosts. Breakfast is included, but I recommend, that you even have your dinner here. No need for a menu, you just say the time you'll line to eat and sit at the table and enjoy excellent local food made with love. You can't be better taken care for. Theth itself is truly amazing. You can do hiking ( Grunas waterfall, Blue eye and the demanding Theth - Valbona hike). One important notice though. The last 15 km the road is unpaved and truly miserable. There's a big risk of damaging your vehicle and I cannot recommend driving there without 4WD SUV. If you are uncomfortable with high places and get dizzy, you should not plan driving yourself. The road is listed as one of the dangerous roads in Albania and for a reason! We challenged the road and did not regret it. The picture of our hosts with their permission.

We sated 3 nights in Guesthouse Marashi and we have to say that its been one of the best places we have been. The gustehouse is in the best place of the village, right next the river. The landscape around is gorgeus. The family that runs the guesthouse is absolutly very nice, helphul, humble and sweet. For sure if we come back to Theth we will go to the same place, they treat us like a family. Everything very clean and the food so so good.

Guesthouse Marashi was a charming and friendly place to stay in Theth. They served good food and the family there was very nice. The rooms were clean and the showers had hot water. There are a bunch of places to stay in Theth and a new bar/cafe/minimarket at the other end of town near the trailhead to Valbone.
