Came here for a night in our campervan. It wasn’t too easy to book as I needed to phone, but once I got through it was fine. Checking in was a bit tedious - questioning the booking, then having to reconfirm everything, then couldn’t find a pass etc. but nice that we could choose a site The location was excellent - quiet, flat, with power, overlooking fields with some shade, but a mud and gravel based site. The facilities were clean and functional although the shower was not as good as other places. It was very cost effective @ only $50 for a powered site

Our experience as a family was some what indifferent. We camped for 6 nights in their allocated camp grounds. Just a heads up, it's a long way back at the extreme end of the quite large property. There are 3 flat areas available to pitch tents or lay out a swag or two. Close enough to the toilets for it to be comfortable. Hot waster was very consistent and toilets generally clean. We only had issues with very late arrivals, near midnight, who preceded to set their tents up and use electric mattress inflaters (extremely loud) a few nights in row. We were under the impression they cut off access to new campers at 6p.m? Being their busy months it may of just been a money grabbing thing? I can tell you the whole camp site wasn't happy at all. It was extremely rude of the guests in question and a huge oversight by the owners. Definitely won't return, purely for that reason. There will be punch-ons next time.

This caravan park is actually mainly for caravans and mobile homes. We found a spot for a campervan, but it was at the very top of the hilly terrain. There were only a few pitches there. Access is via a very uneven dirt road, which requires careful driving for vehicles with a low chassis. We paid $60.60 for the rather simple pitch with electricity. It was the highest and also the most unjustified price of our camping trip, which lasted several weeks; we had better pitches for much less, including at Gday.

I wasnt able to post a second review only three days after my recent review of the same restaurant but as it was such a different experience, even though it was on 25 January 2020, I still wanted to do a review. At very late notice, a young friend who was leaving to begin her doctorate in Copenhagen, had an evening when lots of her friends could meet to say goodbye. After a cocktail at the Palisades, a group of 12 went to Taste on the Rocks for dinner. I do admit that having Mandarin speakers amongst us made a difference, but people who have lived/live in China are also good judges of quality food. So we had a slap up banquet.
First was a huge shallow bowl with shredded red cabbage carrot, greens, dry noodles, peanuts and sliced salmon and accompanying sauce poured over. We all used chopsticks to toss the mixture than dived into the freshest and crispest of salad and salmon. Apparently as it was also Chinese New Year, tradition would have us tossing the food as high as we could. Out of deference to the decor and cause it was just too nice to waste, we refrained. It went from there. I won’t list all the dishes, readers will be losing interest in this too too long post, but fried bran, such a traditional dish, alongside Australian favorites like honey chicken and steamed ginger and shallots whole fish added up to a great night. So ... top place for a moderate sized group. Staff were extra friendly as we were all so obviously appreciative of their efforts. At the end of the evening which wasn’t too late as there were grandmothers amongst us, the chef brought out a red and gold bottle of some pungent liquor which most of us smelt and one or two brave types sipped. Best left to the aficionados that drop!

Wow, a little hidden beauty! Located amongst a lot of gumtrees. So very peaceful. We stayed in the cabins which were located at the front of the park, near the pool area. The cabins were very clean and an excellent size for a family of 5. The park was extremely well kept and very clean. The pool is a very good size with toddlers pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. Minutes from a local strip with a general store, fish and chips, pub etc. A barista out the front of the cabin park in the mornings to serve some coffees. Right near extensive park lands with a skatepark and a kids playground, although the Cabin park itself has a kids playground too. Wish we had of heard about this place sooner and we most certainly will be back.

I had no choice but to go at the silly season between Xmas and NY. I camped minimally in my car in the unpowered top section, and spent my days down at the foreshore and walking. The kitchen set me up well for the day,& ablutions blocks was perfect to clean up before bed. Everything clean and efficient. Great showers. Kind and very helpful staff.

We had pre booked some campsites however when we arrived and completed the registration details the woman at the counter then took out a notebook and asked for further details which I found very strange. One question she asked for was the phone number of my parents (I'm 22!) as well as the car registrations of my friends who did not bring their cars??. We were disappointed by the amenities not being very clean but beside being in a back corner of the park decided to stay. On the following morning we were woken by the owner outside out camp shouting "get out of my park!' I asked what the issue was but he just kept yelling and telling me we were evicted because of noise complaints. I told him he was mistaken as we had gone out the night before and when we returned there was no issues. He went completely berserk and started taking down our camp. The girls in the group felt for their safety so we decided to leave, we made a report to the police about his behaviour. I could not state clearly enough to avoid this park at all times, our long weekend was ruined, people very upset and all for no reason. Do not go to this park!!! We found a site at another park and were welcomed as we thought we should have been in the first place.

My friends and I had an extremely disappointing experience with Jan Juc Park. The customer service was terrible, and we left the Park feeling shocked, befuddled and insulted. It must be noted that myself and my three friends are male, and aged between 22 & 23. We booked for our four-day get-a-way approximately one month in advance. Our booking was confirmed on at least two occasions. The only details we were asked to provide were how many adults and children would be attending. On arrival at Jan Juc Caravan Park, the lady behind the counter found our booking and was in the process of checking us in. She asked us to fill out our details in a notebook while she wrote down details of our booking onto a registrar, including the four dates of our stay. She asked whether we had stayed at the Park before, to which I answered yes, having stayed there about three summers previously. She then told us that there was strictly no alcohol allowed in the Park. This was a little surprising, since that we had received no prior notice of this, and had not been able to find this detail on the website at all. She then asked us pointedly is we accepted this regulation, to which we again responded in the affirmative. Then another manager, an older gentleman (I use this word loosely) came into the main reception area where, again, we had been accepted and were being checked in by the lady. He looked across at us and said “we can’t take them” to the lady. We were initially confused. What did he mean? He came over to the desk and looked down (at the booking papers, we assume) and said again, to the lady, “we can’t take them”. She was initially a little taken aback too, and told him that we had a booking for four nights under my name, and he just told her, again, “we can’t take them”. He only spoke to the lady behind the counter, avoiding eye-contact with us. We were confused. What was happening? Had they double-booked? If so, why had been already been accepted by the lady? The gentleman at this point walked out into an adjoining office with the door open so that he could still clearly be heard. He simply kept repeating “we can’t take them”. My friends and I began to enquire as to why we were being rejected after having received confirmation of our booking and having been accepted by the lady only minutes previously. All the gentleman kept saying was “We can’t take them”. The lady was obviously a little uncomfortable, but then started to confirm what the gentleman was saying. She began to say that we couldn’t stay there. We had travelled from Melbourne and made plans for our four days down on the Surf Coast, and we weren’t about to simply get back into the car and drive home. We asked her what we were supposed to do. The gentleman then said “we can take them for tonight, for one night, but no more, not at all!” We thought that was inappropriate, since we would have to try to find another campsite after only one night. The lady then started telling us about D’Oro Tourist Farm, an alternative camping destination about 15mins from Torquay (which, incidentally, was FANTASTIC – if you’re looking for a cheap camping destination and don’t care about being immediately by the beach, we can highly recommend it). She initially told us that we had to call them before heading across, but, taking pity on us, then decided to call them for us. The lady called D’Oro Tourist Farm and got us a campsite, and looked up the directions for us which was quite helpful. We were still feeling quite shocked at this point that things had not gone to plan at all. We again asked if they had double-booked. The lady responded with “ahh… yes, that is one of the factors”. As we were leaving, we turned back and said “look, is it because we’re a group of young men?” to which the lady looked very uncomfortable, and mumbled a response to something along the lines of “I … er … uh … that’s one of the factors … er …” We walked out at this point, with the intention to never return. The customer service was appalling. To have a confirmed booking, be initially accepted, then rejected based on (we assume) our collective demographic profile as a group of young male customers left us shocked, angry and insulted. It was an extremely disappointing experience. If you’re looking for a cheap camping holiday down on the beautiful Surf Coast, my friends and I can recommend the wonderful D’Oro Tourist Farm, run by Doug and Jan, who were welcoming and very hospitable. Steer well clear of Jan Juc Caravan Park.

Going on a nice holiday is meant to be relaxing, but not here! After staying at this park for many years, it has really gone downhill. The owners are absolutely out of line in some of the things they do. If you are aged between 18-25 do not stay here. They ask for your parents details, your rego (even if you didn't bring your car) and a bunch of other personal facts that have nothing to do with your stay. if you don't answer, you don't stay. They are rude and i have experienced them shouting and intimidating people, coming into their sites in the early hours of the morning and evicting people for no reason. would not recommend! not a good family park if you make any mistake at all they go crazy! do not stay here!

We stayed here with friends for a Saturday night. We were playing YouTube music clips from an iPhone and portable Bose mini speaker, enjoying sharing each other's favourite music tastes. Despite the music being played at what we thought was a reasonable volume it quickly came to light that the caravan park was to be intolerant of this.
By 8:30pm on a Saturday night (on the Anzac day long weekend) the owner's and surrounding tenants continually heckled us to turn down the already reasonable volume music until it became clear that a complete shut down is what was actually the desired outcome.
The following morning had the manager complaining about our perceived anti-social behaviour to the new tenants setting up camp next to our caravan. So professional. The manager then came to our sight and demanded we leave as we had outstayed our welcome. We were already getting packed and ready anyway.
What a bizarre experience.
