Hard to fault this small, pet friendly cabin accommodation, situated in a fantastic location at Amity Point. Good communication from the owners in advance, although we didn't manage to meet up during our quiet, midweek, pre-school holiday break. Parking is limited to designated spots close to reception, but there are handy luggage trolleys to transport gear to one of the 6 main cabins. Stop for a moment to take in the stunning view out over the lawns to the ocean and also take a look up, as there are resident koalas. Very clean and tidy accommodation, although slightly awkward having sink across room from kitchen area. Comfortable double bed plus large trundle if required. Very well-equipped camp kitchen area and a small jetty to maybe catch tea to boot. If no luck fishing, just hang out watching the dolphins metres from shore while drinking in a beautiful sunset.

Beautiful cabin accomodation. Lovely, clean and pups allowed. Bandicoots, Koalas and all sorts live in the trees. Can't wait to come back. Great view from the kitchen. Kids loved it. We were stranded after being blown off main beach by the wind and sand. Awesome place.

Sea Shanty’s is a wonderful and cute place. Simple, quaint, quirky and exceptionally clean. You feel comfortable and welcome from the moment you arrive. Koalas and dolphins a few steps away from your cabin. Everything you need in one place with a magical sunset every-night. Thank you Jane and the team for all of your hard work.

We decided to visit Minjerribah (North Stradbroke) at the last moment and were lucky enough to get a few nights in Sea Shanties at Amity Point. The cabins are well appointed with everything you could need for a self contained stay. The whole cabin is screened for insects, the bed is comfortable, walk in shower with instant hot water is perfect after a day at the beach. There’s a kettle, toaster, microwave and induction cooktop. A reasonable sized TV is in your cabin - wifi is not that good but, bring a book and enjoy a digital detox. The cabins look onto channel, with seats to relax in and watch the local dolphins play. They swim past day and night. There’s also a really good camp kitchen that’s well equipped and very good barbecues available to use. There’s even an espresso machine. It’s walking distance to the cafe, general store and the jetty, where a swimming enclosure has been netted. We loved Sea Shanties and hope to return next summer.

We had such a wonderful relaxing holiday here. The cabins are small but very comfortable and the whole ambience is wonderful. Dolphins every evening and koalas right outside the front door! We even caught fish right there 😊 Cooking facilities are available in the cabins (if basic) but the communal camp kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Thoroughly recommend but Cabin 1 is the best.

We originally planned to take a day-trip, or spend only one night on North Stradbroke, but made it a two-day excursion after our plans were disrupted due to the recent bushfires. We are so pleased we made this decision! At the end of few weeks of travel in Australia and New Zealand with many stops, Stradbroke and Sea Shanties ended up on the top of our list. The town of Amity is not fancy, and when we first got off the bus, I was unsure about the place. It’s quiet, residential with a market and restaurant. But, once we got our bearings and got settled into our accommodations, we realized the simplicity is what makes the area and Sea Shanties special. When we arrived, the owner, Libbie, warmly greeted us and settled us in to Cabin 2. With 3 adults (my husband and college-age daughter) it was not at all cramped, and is appointed with modern amenities like a good-sized bathroom, warm and spacious shower, comfortable beds, plenty of storage space, and a kitchenette. We learned later that the cabins are WW2 USA Army cabins that were relocated from a nearby island and renovated, which we found quite interesting and felt grateful that we were are living in a more peaceful time and were able to enjoying the cabins while vacationing. Cabin 2 has a water view from one of the windows, and is just short stroll from the water’s edge. While the cabin was lovely, our favorite part of the Sea Shanties was the open-air, shared kitchen overlooking the water. Wow! Large refrigerator, gas range, grills (bbq’s), plates, cooking tools – everything you need and more. We enjoyed our fish dinner overlooking the sea and chatting with other guests, both Australian and international. We also enjoyed the creative touches in the gardens and containers on the property, and the potted herbs available for use in the kitchen. The wildlife was also a treat for us Americans. The morning bird calls and koala grunts are entirely different from nature’s sounds in the northeastern US. Plus, there is the added benefit of the dolphins that we interacted with at the nearby beach and observed from the Sea Shanties property in the evenings. While on the island we relaxed on the Amity beach that is about a 10-minute walk from the Sea Shanties and took the bus to Point Lookout, which is a must-do. The sea and landscapes in that areas are much more dramatic, but the town is more commercial and the area busier, though still pleasant. We hope to return to Australia sometime in the future and Sea Shanties would definitely be a stop for us. We highly recommend this place for families, groups of friends, or couples. Enjoy!

Hi Eileen Thank you for the lovely review on Amity and Sea Shanties. It is a very special place and Libbi is the best host. Glad you decided to stay two nights as one night is not enough time to see what Straddie has to offer. The waterfront here is such a special place and the wildlife are an added bonus. Once again thank you for the great review and i will pass your thanks onto Libbi. Sorry i didn't get to meet you, I was visiting another magical destination Australia has to offer. Kindest Regards

You're lucky the owners of this property let people stay here - what a privilege! Highlights include: the very cute cabins (comfy beds too), the huge outdoor common kitchen, the BEAUTIFUL ocean view, koalas on property, property manager very friendly, super relaxing vibe overall, free parking... what more could you ask for? I almost didn't want to leave a good review because I want to keep this place a secret all to myself! It's perfect.

Hi Lylie L Thank you so much for the lovely review. I am so pleased to hear you felt so relaxed at Sea Shanties. The owners stay here often so they always make sure Sea Shanties is welcoming and comfortable for our guests and they love to share there little slice of paradise. It was actually the owners that were here at your time of stay. I hope the rest of your trip was as enjoyable as Straddie was. Kindest Regards Jane

We just spend 2 nights in cabin 1. The room we had was great, resently renovated, great bathroom. Our room had its own kitchen and a clear view of the bay. We could not fault anything. The outdoor share kitchen was very and very well fitted out. The jetty a couple of flood lights, which attracts insects, which in turn attracts small fish, which in turn attracts dolphins. We had 2 dolphins put on a great fishing show.

This is our second visit to the Sea Shanties and we absolutely love it. This time stayed in cabin 5 which has a waterfront view. It is relaxed, cosy and a hidden wildlife oasis. There are resident koalas. We saw 4 this visit, one climbed down the tree and walked through the kitchen! The outdoor kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to make meals. We absolutely love this place. Will be back again

I'm no stranger to Amity, as a kid often made the trek across Moreton Bay from Wynnum but never stayed there before. Lisa was an exceptional host. Bubbly, enthusiastic (without being too much) and shared a deep passion for not only the property but the island in general. Told us some interesting facts about the place and then let us be with the caveat "we're going away for the weekend, the caretaker will make sure everything runs smoothly" Unit was well maintained and clean. First night had dolphins breaching a metre away from where I was fishing near the private jetty. One of the few places on the eastern seaboard you can witness a sunset over water. Koalas came down to ground level. Unfortunately, the caretakers were nowhere near as attentive as Lisa. Bins overflowed. Grease traps on the barbeques overflowed. We never saw them the whole time. I believe new owners have taken over, hopefully the place is still well maintained and serviced better by relief staff. Wonderful tranquil place that is worthy of a visit. Thank you Lisa for sharing your part of the world.

Hi Albinus81 Glad to hear Lisa made such a good impression and made your stay enjoyable.Looks like you stayed here well before the 30th September as Lisa left Sea Shanties at the end of August. Not sure of the circumstances regards the relief manager when Lisa went away for the weekend.I will apologise that Sea Shanties was not kept to a high standard as it should have been. The BBQ grease traps perhaps were not emptied before Lisa went away for the weekend as they take quite a bit to fill up. The bins should have been emptied daily as always so i am not sure there even was a relief manager for the weekend as you did not see anyone. I have been manager for the month of September and can assure you Sea Shanties will again be welcoming and kept clean, presentable and well maintained. The sunsets and dolphins still put on a spectacular display and we even had a pod of whales cruise past last week.Hope to see you at Sea Shanties and again i apologise your stay was dampened by lack of an onsite managers presence. Kindest Regards Jane
