Very old and dated. Uncomfortable beds. Beds were poorly made and didn’t feel clean. Food in the restaurant wS overpriced and poor quality I had the scotch fillet and it was average at best - they served 1 carrot with a main course. Needs refreshing I would never stay here again if I had a choice.

Clear Mountain Lodge Nights: 2 People: 2 Room : Superior Room with two queen beds Hotel: Located close to Brisbane the hotel provided the perfect balance of shopping and relaxation. Restaurant: Stephanie’s restaurant has really stunning views of Lake Samsonvale and also Brisbane city. We enjoyed dinner on both nights with the Accor plus dining discount. Tip - grab a table on the deck to make the most of the afternoon views Parking: multiple car parks at the hotel at no cost. The carpark to the rooms involve lots of stairs - great way to stay fit on holidays. Swimming Pool: Very large pool, great depth and nice forest outlook and some lake glimpses. Great spot to relax!! Some things to do in the area: * Enjoy some shopping in Brisbane and surrounds on the way to the hotel * Recommend buying picnic lunch at shopping centre/s before heading to the hotel so you can later enjoy “Bullocky Rest”and then a walk. We had a picnic breakfast on the 2nd day of our stay before conquering the 8.2km trail to Forgan Cove * Visit Samford (13km/ 15min drive) - The Flying Nun Cafe (a cafe in an old church), Harry Potter Store of Requirement, an antique store with old books and eat some fresh pastries at Little Tree Bake & Brewhouse. * Old Petrie Town (11km / 14 min drive). This old village is pretty cool. Great restaurant / cafe / pub that has reasonably priced meals and the best lemon and lime bitters they make from scratch. It’s free to walk around the old township and look at the old buildings. Gold coin donation to go into the QLD Steam & Vintage Machinery Museum. Also markets in this town on a Sunday * Whiteside - there was a really good viewpoint of the dam - more picnic tables here * For another walk (if you want something challenging!!) Fitness Trail Road and Water Supply Road Trail from the hotel it’s a 4.89km walk with plenty of elevation. Walk 500m down the road (below the restaurant side of the hotel) to the trail entry. This one’s a steep one. Allow 1.5hours. You will need the pool later!!! * Walkabout creek discovery centre (28km/ 35mins and back towards Gold Coast) we did this after checkout on the way to our next accommodation at the Gold Coast- here you can rent stand up paddle boards, kayaks. Recommend going to the discovery centre and paying the $8.90 admission to go into the animal displays (did you know we have a tree kangaroo in Australia 🦘?)

Was looking for somewhere close to Brisbane in yet a million miles from anywhere and we certainly found it here. The location in Clear Mountain is absolutely perfect for a bit of R&R away from it all. Was a little weary of the numerous negative reviews that have been left however, we found very little to find fault with. The room, bed and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The restaurant and deck were such a nice place to take in the views while enjoying a drink or meal although my only criticism was the very patchy service which could be painfully slow. Ordering food and drinks only to have to chase up the drinks after finishing our meals is very poor to say the least. Overall though, we really enjoyed our two nights at Clear Mountain Lodge.

Clean rooms, though not the largest, containing the worlds smallest tv screens (even my laptop has a larger display). Otherwise restaurant is good and breakfast options well provisioned and tasty. Mind the kookaburra who pinches the sausages from you plate on the deck.

A one night stay during our road trip to Queensland. I did not have huge expectations of the lodge except a comfy bed and a good restaurant meal. Our room overlooked the heavily treed bush and not so attractive veggie gardens that looked abandon, the room itself was satisfactory, the bed comfy, more than one chair, bathroom excellent plenty of room, good towels and large hot shower. It was fairly quiet guest-wise the night we stayed so restaurant for evening meal practically empty, we enjoyed our meal, staff attentive. Breakfast a buffet with egg options already cooked all offerings were first class and enjoyed. Only negative was the wooden steps down to our accommodation, steep and a bit scary, probably OK for younger people, we are 70 plus. Don't know if the hotel caters for wheel chairs or walkers, I certainly found no easy ways to our room. Overall an enjoyable stay.

The staff are friendly and the resort is in a beautiful spot about 15 mins either way to Dayboro or Samford. The Superior Double rooms are adequate but nothing special. From the perspective of a consumer who wants to see these places not only maintain their existence but flourish, this resort desperately needs to improve their game in several areas. Not sure if the onsite manager is woefully complacent or lacking in business acumen or has enough operating budget from Accor/ Mercure but the entire resort is a huge let down for members and needs a good clean and a fair bit of essential not ‘nice to have’ maintenance. Dusty rooms & balconies, showers that leak water through the cubicle out along the grout all over the floor, no exhaust fan, rusty railings, dirty glass, cobwebs everywhere, broken chairs on the deck which is a safety hazard. We would have enjoyed a good steak at the onsite restaurant but at $52 each plus $10-$12 extra for vegetables was unreasonable, unacceptable and in stark contrast with the rest of the resort. Good gluten free options though but bring your prices down to a reasonable level and you will capture more clients. I hope senior management of Accor see this post as someone needs a wake up call, better training or funding as it is a crying shame.

This place is a bit his and miss. Some things are done well whereas some areas, in particular the restaurant really need attention. We stayed in one of the Lodge Suites and the room was beautiful despite the lack of view (see photos). The room was spacious, bed very comfy and the bathroom well thought out. The restaurant however is a different story. They are charging five star prices but delivering mediocre food at best. The classic example is the steak. $52 did a steak with done chimicurri sauce, watercress sprig, lemon and a whole lot of oil. No veggies or anything…..that’s extra. So steak and chips will cost you $62! Now I get that costs need to be covered but this is borderline extortionate costs. $24 for a small chicken dish….. again, simply ridiculous! We had some parts of our dinner covered in our room rate but still has to chip in almost $100 for drinks and sides to actually make us content. In addition, the wait time was excruciating with our ordeal lasting almost three hours. To be fair, the staff were lovely and the breakfast buffet, despite being on the smaller side was quite good. Overall, it appears their niche market is for events and conference market. I would stay in the accommodation again however wouldn’t dine in for dinner.

This place is totally unsuitable for wheelchair or any person with a disability. On booking this accommodation we were told it’s wheelchair friendly. On arrival we check out the room & unless u r an moutain goat it’s totally unsafe for wheelchairs. It needs some serious cash to get it back to the photos they post. We didn’t stay found alternative accommodation at the Quest motel.

A true luxury resort with spectacular views from top of the mountain location. All staff extremely friendly and helpful. Pre dinner drink by the fire was relaxing and enjoyable. Updated room with balcony looking out towards Lake Samsonvale very comfortable. Special mention to Karena for her kind & cheerful assistance. Highly recommended. Had a most enjoyable day exploring Dayboro, and another at Samford.

We stayed at Clear Mountain for three nights in a superior room. The room was clean, beds comfortable, with a pleasant view. The bathroom was a bit peculiar though, with very little room for cosmetics and toiletries. Shower was good though. The staff everywhere are really pleasant and helpful. Parking is a bit of a hassle in that there are stairs up from one of the parking lots which makes lugging heavy bags up to reception a nuisance. Likewise there are no lifts in the hotel. We were on the second floor (I think there are three floors) so again a lift or staff to help getting bags up and down stairs would have been appreciated, particularly for oldsters like us. The resort does need a facelift in parts, some of the older chairs and tables in the dining room should have been replaced long ago. The restaurant was a bitter disappointment. The menu is very limited, with such offerings as Chicken Maryland, the usual pork belly and the ubiquitous salmon. The prices, however, do not reflect such humble offerings. We had pork ragu which was tasty, but priced at $38, which I thought was a bit high. Steak was $52. The vegetarian option was pumpkin, a bit tarted up but still pumpkin. Far better to travel to Samford Village. The hotel there serves pub food which is typically pub food which was tasty, unpretentious and a whole lot cheaper. The pub is huge, but the eating areas are separated so it doesn’t feel ‘barn like’. It may be that the resort is having an issue hiring chefs and kitchen staff as this seems to be the case everywhere post covid, but the restaurant does need to lift its game regarding the paucity, cost and quality of menu items. Breakfast at the resort was fine, with the usual fare on offer. Breakfast finishes at 9, a bit early for retirees (and late sleepers) like us!😀. Despite my criticisms we would return for the views, the relaxing vibe, and the beautiful surrounding area. The real winners in this resort are its position, views and the friendliness of it’s staff.
