Detailed Reviews
Flew in small 19seater from Hobart. A quick efficient and enjoyable no frills flight. Car rental from Currie, again seamless and efficient. Very helpful information about the Island was given. Accommodated at the Hotel in Currie. Very good clean spacious rooms, up stairs (no lifts). Parking on site. Easy to find, friendly reception. Dinner at the KI Hotel excellent or alternatively The View (KI Golf & Bowls Club) very good, but very erratic opening schedule. Other recommended restaurants not open (check as some will open for large groups or on weekends), however the Hotel offers very good meals. Breakfast at the Currie Bakery, other supplies from the Co-op, an IGA centrally located in Currie. There is also a pharmacy, 2 petrol outlets and post office. Outside Currie the golf courses all have bar and dining, which may not be open even if you are booked to play. During COVID features such as KI Cheese Shop are closed. Grassy and KI Clubs are operational but bar only. You can get a list of what is open and when week by week from the airport. Enjoy instead of the potential cuisine the vivid coastline, the plentiful bird life (gorgeous pheasants, turkeys, etc), the pesky wallabies and the lovely people. Roads vary, but even the unsealed are pretty good, and there are very few 4WD only roads. Zero traffic lights and one round-about✔️ The Parks Service and local council should be congratulated for the access, picnic and toilet facilities and good information provided. We would have bought more merch/souvenirs to remind us of a fabulous holiday, but not much about. We are definitely going back. Oh did I mention golf? I am not a player but travelled with some. There are three courses, 2 are top-rated and spectacular! The third is the local golf and bowls club very close to Currie and is also lovely, but no buggy hire for this hilly 9 hole pretty terrific spot. They also have a great location and restaurant with a view.

Our tour group enjoyed lunch at this hotel restaurant, before we left for the airport.
Choice was Fish and Chips or Chicken Salad. Both looked good; the chicken salad was most flavoursome with plenty of lettuce, some avocado and mango dressing. Chicken was grilled and warm, seasoned with herbs.
Part of the restaurant was under an glassed in Pagoda at the extension of the dining room.

John(the publican) runs a great operation. He's very welcoming, the food is excellent (and the serves are very generous) and the rooms are spotless.

King Island is a very friendly spot with spectacular scenery. The hotel has a bar & dining room and clean & comfy accommodation for $115/night including breakfast. The car hire is across the road from the hotel. The coastline and scenery has a lot of variety between rocky cliffs, shipwrecks and beautiful beaches. The inner parts of the island consist mainly of farmland and the trip wouldn't be complete without a trip to the cheese tasting at the Dairy.

The room was extra good sized and was everything we hoped for. The amenities were very adequate. The staff and locals were extra friendly and the beer was cold. Loved our stay at Parers and I would recommend Parers to anyone. Regards Macca
